Leafs fans didn't get everything free last year. Most of their games were on TSN, Sportsnet or CBC but if you wanted all of them you had to buy Leafs TV.
I guess we're facing something similar.

It's a cash grab by Rogers. Guess Rogers has to figure out a way to make a profit on the $5.232 billion they've spent ... I'm in Kingston and I never really understood why a town like Napanee, ON, (in between Kingston/Belleville) would get RDS as part of their normal cable package, while I have to spend $7/month to get it when I'm closer to Montreal than they are ... I'm going to wait for the final map to present itself and go from there ... however, it can't stop Rogers from re-bundling their packages, anyway ... once they realize they can break up 82 games over several different packages, forcing you to fork out more $, they'll do it ... might also look at increasing my bandwidth and watching the games online, but I'll wait to see what comes up first ... Cheers. Rick, just move to Napanee... it only a 12 minute drive to K-town

I think the RDS national situation is still in flux. as a cash grab by Rogers they want the games national (more cash). you would think RDS would think the same. I said cash grab because at first glance at rogers.com it looks like Centre Ice is part of something called a Super Sports Pak at $36.00/month. Too much. Can it it be purchased separately? ya got me. I only hear about the SN end of things. and I agree . . . that is a cash grab!

I have TVA sports on my Rogers package but it doesn't look worth it - I am assuming the 21 Saturday games on TVA are the same 21 games on HNIC. It looks like the only way I get every game is by dropping RDS & getting Centre Ice. It's a cash grab by Rogers. NHL Center ice does not cover regional broadcast Blackout restrictions exist to protect the local telecasters of each NHL game in the local markets of the teams. Keep in mind that blackout policies and restrictions are different for every sports package that your system may carry. (NHL CENTER ICE is designed for the NHL fan who wants to see NHL games in addition to those which involve the team(s) in their local markets).
If you are located in a team's television territory, check your local listings for all locally televised games. NHL CENTER ICE is not able to televise these games. As well NHL Center Ice does not cover playoffs games: ARE NHL PLAYOFF GAMES INCLUDED IN NHL® CENTER ICE®? No, there are no Stanley Cup® playoff games included in your NHL CENTER ICE subscription. ...playoffs games are only part of the National deal so they belong to TVA Sports and Rogers. As far as I am concerned if I want to get all possible HABS games in french including playoffs (I'm East of Belleville), only way is to have TVA Sports and RDS... which is only 7$/month more than RDS only... ...apparently TSN was not all that interested to pick up English regional rights from HABS so English viewers "may" get lucky if Rogers pick up English regional rights on top of their National deal as you'll get everything on Sportsnet...

Center Ice was useless to me when I lived in Nova Scotia Doc.....everything Habs was blacked out. Out west, however I got to see all the Habs games on CI, as for the playoffs, they are broadcast nationally on CBC anyways.

Sportsnet picks up all regional english games for Habs Most excellent. Does that mean in ottawa we'll get RDS in french and Sportsnet in English covering the same game or will Sportsnet be blacked out because of RDS?

Sportsnet picks up all regional english games for Habs Official? yes Brian Wild: In other news, I have a lot of followers at Twitter and it would be a pain in the arse to announce it there but Sportsnet is going to announce soon a Habs regional hockey package. I can say this with a 95 percent certainty. So English Habs fans good news for you.

Whoever wants the English can have them.

Unfortunately, the package is still regiona, so the same rules as RDS. I can't help but feel like even the Jets get more coverage nationwide than the Habs do. I feel really sorry for all you fans out west(apparently, Toronto is out west). It's unfair. This deal that was supposed to bring "more" hockey to fans has essentially taken Hockey away from the fans looking to watch the most decorated and loved team. Makes no sense to me. I'm not sure who decides the blackouts. I'm sure it's not the NHL, but is it law or Rogers. Makes sense that sportsnet plays a leafs game instead of the Habs in the GTA, but that doesn't mean Habs can't have their own channel for all the games. This seems to be a way for them (Rogers, NHL) to make more money. You can always move east

I move that we make Habs region all of Canada. I mean, they are the Canadiens, are they not? Seems like Habs fans across Canada are complainning about the coverage. Has anyone seen anything about leaf fans in BC? Maritimes? No Edmonton fans here in Quebec complainning that they can't watchh all the Oils games.
Maybe it's just me

My French isn't great but I have RDS to watch the games. It doesn't matter what language the games are in. So Sportsnet getting the regional rights is useless to me. Why would they even bother? Just so people could watch the games in english? Habs fans in the "region" would have subscribed to RDS anyway. TSN is creating new channels for teams like the Jets but a team like MTL with a national fan base gets next to nothing?

I'm waiting for the official announcement though.

No one channel will hold all habs games unless the habs would have sold the regional rights to rogers. Same goes for the Jets channel on TSN. TSN will only be able to show the regional games, not the national ones. Regional games will not be shown to us in quebec, so that TSN channel will be blacked out during the games. My complaint is, there are far more habs fans in Manitoba then there are Jets fans in Quebec (Supposition on my part, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), so why not make Habs and Laffs games available to all fans in Canada.

I couldn't believe they signed PJ. maybe they'll send him to Toronto. Here's the article on the Sportsnet personnel. Ugh. Same as it ever was. Jamming that maple leaf down our throats. Insulting the viewer with Toronto apologetics and cheerleading in the face of futility. Rogers owns 37.5% of MLSE....and their Media President, Keith Pelley, said back on November 26th..... “Not if, but when the Maple Leafs hoist the Cup, we expect they’ll hoist it on CBC. But at the same they could be hoisting it on Sportsnet, Sportsnet 360 and all different platforms,” said Pelley. The Ontario coverage will be Leafs, Leafs, and more Leafs. I notice the Habs, Jets, and Sens do not have a dedicated broadcast team....according to the article I posted. Only Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Vancouver are so favoured. I'm still disgusted at the way CBC-HNIC treated the Habs during these past playoffs. Canada's only representative. They cheered for Tampa, then Boston, then New York. There is definitely a "screw the Habs" dimension to the outside-of-Quebec broadcast mindset. Ron MacLean completely lost me when he said, "There are still x-amount Canadian-born players in these playoffs. Our website will tell you where they play....so that you can still cheer for Canada."The nausea will continue.

Does this still mean that those of us west of Belleville still don't get the games? key word: regional. key fear: that Willie and I (along with a few others) will be considered in the Ottawa region, and excluded (oh, joy: 82 Senators games!). I didn't expect to hear this news for another week and a half . . . negotiations must have gone well.
