CH, I agree regarding Souray. Despite his foibles, he commanded respect from opponents and took it where necessary.

that was a nasty cross-check -- a real nasty cross-check -- to a bad place. but it was an equally egregious two-handed slash to a goalie covering up a puck that brought it on (a slash and a half, when you look at it; Miller just didn't get all he wanted to on the second one). Geez....it looks to me as if Miller is just going for a rebound a la Gallagher...or anybody who's on the doorstep. I certainly didn't think it was slashing to the pads. The puck was loose on a rebound...and he was going for it...missed...and hit the pads. But yes...I'd still take Buff on my team....he isn't always like that.

I can excuse Miller a little bit as the puck may have appeared to be loose, but he sure missed by a lot. I thought. From Buff's viewpoint, it would have looked like Miller was taking shots at Pavelec. Can't excuse the severity of the stickwork, but I understand why. As usual, it's also beneficial to see the play leading up to the incident. Often, we miss something that happened 20 seconds earlier or even earlier in the game, for which it's "consequences" time. All because the league is not policing the game properly.
On the Burrows/Gaustad penalty, Bonino, when asked to comment about a possible suspension (there was none) said that a few games ago, Toffoli had driven Burrows into the boards head first and got nothing. The players are noticing these things and that's why they're keeping a running score. It also points out the records the refs are keeping, which is that Burrows has a reputation so they ignore true penalties against him. How often have we seen that with Gallagher and PK? I can understand the refs viewpoint, but it seems they've taken it beyond where it should go.

how ugly are the Leafs. and their fans actually think someone wants Phaneuf? ugh! How can they NOT hold on to a 3-1 lead against Buffalo? Millionaires playing out the string. Thanks for the money, chumps! Simply ridiculous….. Let the Leaf hype begin anew on Lottery Day…..then up the hype for the Entry Draft…ad nauseam…into next season.

They're already posting stories on TSN asking 'who deserves McDavid?' Think those questions get asked, and given air time, if the Leafs are losing intentionally as much as possible?
It's too bad the 2016 rules for the lottery are a year away. From that point on, lotteries will be drawn for each of the top three picks. The teams that don't get #1 are put back into the hat and get a shot at #2. Same again for #3. Under that system, the worst team in the league could end up picking 4th (but no worse).

Interesting developments these days. If Ottawa beats the Laffs today they're 1 point behind the Pens. They play the Pens Tuesday. All the focus has been on Boston/Ottawa and who finishes out of the playoffs. It's looking more and more like it might be the Pens on the outside looking in.

Leafs beat the Sens in a SO.
That's two costly points they've taken away from Ottawa in their past two meetings.

I would like our chances against the Pens. MAF, like Rask, is psyched out against us. They don't have great scoring from the wing. Their defense is thoroughly average at best overall. A Boston Tampa first round match up would be good for us going forward. Hopefully Boston could grind them down and win some games if not beat them.

Leafs beat the Sens in a SO. That's two costly points they've taken away from Ottawa in their past two meetings. Talk about cognitive dissonance. I'm torn. Hate Boston, don't mind Detroit but dislike their overachieving, dislike Pittsburgh, hate Ottawa. Why can't Florida by in that mix. I don't mind them and like Gerard Gallant. Actually, I dislike most teams, especially the US based ones. That guarantees I'm going to be annoyed most of the time.

Crosby scores 10 seconds in. the legend of the Hamburglar takes a big hit.
5 minutes later, another Pens goal.
halfway through the first, Sens have 2 shots.

3-0 now, Hornqvist. Usually when it starts off this way, it's not good news for Canadian teams, so my prediction is that LA wins and St. Louis wins tonight, dashing hopes for Ottawa, and hurting hopes for Winnipeg and Calgary.

The tying goal was horrible. Sutter can't play puck with feet off faceoff, goes to point. Moves around, Hoffman takes a weak, high, wrister that Kunitz and a defender do a half-hearted job trying to get in the way of. All they do is screen MAF, and it finds its way into the top corner. I think the refs should be checking closely to see if the Sens are playing every shift with too many men on the ice. They've had "Mo" on their side for a long time now.

First goal, total luck. Pen actually kicks it in himself. It's another example of not letting a team off the hook. You give them one tine break and it can turn right around. Ottawa has sure had horseshoes in this run, though. It is going to run out eventually.
In the Oilers win over LA, Eberle almost had the goal of the night. Pouliot carries it on the LW, drops it to Eberle and goes for the net. Eberle has the defender come at him, he puts it through the guy's legs and then loses the puck during his deke on Jones. He was going forehand, backhand, roof and lost control. Terrific play.

Many, the sticks have to be tight in Boston, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Long Island. Did you see the crappy goal Halak let in with seconds to go in last night's game? Horrible. NYI was in like Flynn and Halak snaps defeat from the jaws of victory, or at least an OT point. I'd rather have Eller.

And the Isles had just come back from 1-4 down in the third. 28 seconds to go when Lee tied the game.
Halak allowed that stinker with 2.1 seconds left.

The Islanders have been suspect defensively all year. They need to seriously tighten that area up.
As for the Bruins...yeesh. They've had difficulty scoring goals even more so than we have. Ottawa is picking up enough momentum where they can likely knock either them or the Penguins out of a playoff spot.
