They're 3rd in the division now ... if things stay the same, we win and we play Detroit ... (is that right) ... Cheers. Yes that would be true, if we win tonight and Detroit loses to Carolina. If Detroit ties or wins tonight we'd get the Senators. But many things can still happen, it's all depends on who wins tonight, Montreal, Tampa and Detriot. Here are the scenarios... If we win tonight or gain a point and Detroit loses we get Detroit in the 1st round. If Detroit wins or ties (OT) we get the Sens If we lose tonight and the Lightning win and Detroit wins or ties we get Detroit in the first round, If Detroit loses we get the Sens. If it were up to me I'd rather play Detroit! Let the Rangers deal with the Senators. of course, if Pittsburgh loses to Barfalo in regulation and Boston wins (a Pitts tie gets them in) . . . OK, don't worry about Boston, it make no difference . . . if Pitts beats Barfalo and Detroit loses in regulation, Pitts leapfrogs and Habs or TBay will play them

maybe this will clear it up: * The Penguins would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Sabres in any fashion OR if they get one point against the Sabres AND either the Senators lose to the Flyers in regulation or the Bruins fail to defeat the Lightning in regulation or overtime OR if the Bruins lose to the Lightning in any fashion.
* The Bruins would clinch a playoff berth if they defeat the Lightning in any fashion AND either the Senators or Penguins lose in regulation. If the Bruins defeat the Lightning in regulation or overtime, they would qualify with either a Senators regulation loss or Penguins loss in any fashion.
* The Canadiens would clinch the Atlantic Division title if they get at least one point against the Maple Leafs OR if the Lightning lose to the Bruins in any fashion.
* The Lightning would clinch the Atlantic Division title if they defeat the Bruins in any fashion AND the Canadiens lose to the Maple Leafs in regulation.
* The Red Wings would clinch the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic Division if they get at least one point against the Hurricanes.
* The Rangers, who are locked in as the top seed in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference, will face the No. 2 wild card in the First Round, either the Red Wings, Senators, Penguins or Bruins.
* The Islanders would clinch the No. 2 seed in the Metropolitan Division if they defeat the Blue Jackets in regulation or overtime OR if they defeat the Blue Jackets in a shootout.nhl.comOK, maybe not.

It shouldn't matter who we play. If we are a good team than we should be able to beat them all! Go Habs Go.

I used to do things like the above. Work out the permutations, the what-ifs, the worst case and best case scenarios. Now, I just get a glass of scotch, or a bottle of beer and wait until late tomorrow and all is clear. I found that wishing and hoping had no correlation with whatever actually took place. That was disappointing, learning I had no influence of future events. Such is life.

Is Sutter done in LA? ... Sutter to Toronto, says I Cheers. Curious you should say that. I saw a tweet yesterday about a story involving the Kings, and Dean Lombardi's reaction to it. lakingsinsider.com/2015/04/12/lombardi-addresses-post-report-assuming-control-of-the-room/Supposedly, the Kings players locked Sutter out of the dressing room after a game in Tampa earlier this year. The story's not really clear on why. One later tweet treated it as a prank, but it doesn't sound like Lombardi does. He even says there was a 'scuffle' involved. Lombardi also points out that the team was or began a winning streak at that time, so it didn't affect team harmony. He tries to work it as 'the players assuming control of the dressing room, even if maybe you don't have to go to that extreme'. There's more, but it would appear Sutter was locked out and IMO there had to be some disagreement between the players and him, if there was some need to "assume control of the dressing room". I've been saying for some time that the Kings aren't the same team as their Cup winning teams. They didn't have that hunger or fire you need. That's absolutely normal for a winning team and it's the main reason you don't see a lot of dynasties. It's darn hard to keep up the level of play needed to win multiple Cups. The 78/79 and 77/78 Habs didn't have the same fire as the first two Cup winning teams. So if Lombardi thinks Sutter is done, with Babcock perhaps being available, does he make a play there? There are a lot of teams that could make a run at Babcock. San Jose, Leafs, Buffalo, LA, Anaheim (yup, if the Ducks don't do well, guess who'll get blamed for not being able to win in the playoffs?) and probably a handful more (Philly, Pittsburgh?). Could be very interesting.

Absolutely no doubt that the hottest UFA this summer is Babcock.
