The best part of this is watching Lucic and Julien play the victims ... Lucic went looking for trouble and he found it before he could get his gloves off ... if he wasn't embarrassed by last year's handshake, he certainly is now ... one shot later, the Bruins literally look beatable ... anybody know if there was a response ... would've been interesting to see who the Bruins have left ...

Well, they did get Ference, Purcell and Pouliot, all veterans. Ok, maybe not the best references for leadership.

Leafs continue to score goals and roll along ... IMHO, if they had MacLean behind the bench they might go deep in the playoffs ... they still might if the can keep this up ... Buffalo with the big 1-0 win over LA last night ... what's up with that ... Detroit is on top of the division ... son of a gun ...
Cheers.

Reimer coming up good and lucky vs. Detroit who are all over the Leafs. Wings should've had a 5-on-3 in the first...Babcock couldn't believe it.
Now the Leafs get a 5-on-3. I've seen the Leafs dive twice and not get called for it.
0-0.
I hate the officiating in this league.
EDIT: Lupul nails Quincey from behind into the boards....only 2 minutes.
Wings with a bit of Hab-itis tonight...not being able to finish on great chances.
EDIT: Wings finally break the ice. 1-0.
Should be 5-0. Relentless is the word I'd use to describe their effort tonight.
EDIT: Of course, the Leafs tie it on perhaps their third good scoring chance of the entire game.
It's been men against boys....but all you need is luck...and one break.
Kadri submarines Glendening at the blue line. Wings to the PP. (I think a play like that should be reviewed by the league...that's knee-hunting.)
Wings trying to be too fancy. Kadri comes out of the box and gets a breakaway...can't finish.
Shots are 32-14 Wings with 10:00 left in the third.
EDIT: Wings completely dominating....but can't buy a bounce. Now Phaneuf takes a slashing penalty after Datsyuk pylons him.

Yep, jkr. The Leafs are getting all the puck luck around Reimer. I bet they win it in OT.
What a complete game effort by Detroit. I'd like to see the Corsi scores (or other analytics) for this game.
If the Leafs continue playing this way, they won't make the playoffs, let alone do well in them. You can't have ONLY a hot goalie.
Now Kronwall with a chance alone...shoots it right into Reimer. 9 seconds left.
To OT we go. That point is all Reimer and luck.
Kronwall with a bonehead goalie interference call....Leafs have a 4-on-3 with just under a minute to go.
Ha!!!!
Shootout coming up.
Datsyuk ..scores. Bozak...scores. Nyqvist...missed. Lupul...missed. Tatar...save. Santorelli....wins the game.
If I'm being honest, we've won a few of these ourselves. A completely undeserved two points. Leafs are certainly getting their share of luck nowadays. It'll run out when the heat's really on.

It's been all goaltending. Remember how annoyed we were when we couldn't play worth a damn and Carey kept stealing games for us. It didn't last forever and neither will the Leafs. They're a terrible defensive team.

I dunno, 17, they have a history of riding hot goaltending. I think they'll keep on doing it . . . until Mid-March when they fall apart and slide out of the playoffs. I wouldn't complain about that. I just wish they'd beat teams straight-out instead of giving up a point.

Cheers.

Kings @ Leafs today at 5:00 ET.
Sure hope Sutter put burrs in their jocks after the Montreal game....even though they played well and were stymied by Price.
They SHOULD rip that Toronto D apart.
EDIT
Leafs get an early PP on a pretty minimal call, IMO.
As a result, Quick has made at least two outstanding saves.
EDIT
Makes me angry to see the Kings on 2 days rest not taking advantage of the Leafs who played less than 24 hours ago....and on their 3rd game in 4 nights.
2-0 Toronto midway through the game. Reimer is seeing less than half the pressure Price saw.
EDIT
Finally, the Kings break through. 2 quick goals to tie it late in the second.
And they go up 3-2 early in the third.
EDIT
Funny....Doughty in a battle with Booth...the stick comes up. Booth snaps his head back...and looks to the ref while down on the ice....the call was already coming, but I have a feeling a Hab would've been called for embellishing as well. Leafs tie it on the PP. EDIT
Around 5:00 left in the third. Chances are the Leafs are going to get 1 point tonight...and maybe even both....and plans for parade floats will begin.
And here comes a PP for Toronto. Kadri was barely touched on a breakaway. Just a stick in the hands....nothing more. No slash, no hook.

Feels good to be a Leaf fan right now. At least 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. And quite possibly 9-1-1 in their last 11.
To OT we go.
The Kings played a laissez-faire game for the first 35 minutes. No excuse for that.
EDIT
The Leafs are playing some good hockey nowadays....I have to give them that. They've gotten rid of all the goons/fighters...and they're hustling.
To the shoot-out.

The Leafs win it. 9-1-1 in their last 11 games since those two embarrassing losses to Buffalo and Nashville.
Good thing I stay away from Leafs' media at all costs. They'll be going nuts now.
Thanks, Kings, for taking the first half of the game off.

Saw highlight of that game. First goal, "whoever"'goes around the net and shoots it back toward Quick. He's got everything low covered but Kopitaer sticks his blade in front to block it and the puck goes up over Quicks shoulder. On the Leafs final PP goal, both forwards are cheating toward Kessel on the left boards, and Doubty, feeling lonely or afraid he was missing a great joke, decides to join them. That left one dman to check 4 opponents. Goal. Duh. And PK gets criticized for his play. Sheesh.
It's not all Leafs great play. Sometimes you can't do anything wrong.

C'mon! this leaf crap has got to stop. Anaheim loses 6-2. I knew they weren't as bad as that 9-2 Nashville loss ( although I could hope) but now they are 10-1-1. Things were so bad that Bryzgalov was back in the net for the Ducks.
I hope Anaheim is this bad on Thursday.

Things were so bad that Bryzgalov was back in the net for the Ducks. I hope Anaheim is this bad on Thursday. Like I said earlier, sometimes you can't do anything right (Oilers) and sometimes you can't do anything wrong (Leafs). The tide will turn, because the Leafs simply aren't that good. Rob Elbaz, from Montreal, tweeted that the Leafs have played 31 games and 21 of them have been home games. That's pretty skewed. Tonight, Frederikson (?) was not good. Lupul scored short side from a bad angle, right from the left boards early in the game. So not only have the Leafs been getting great goaltending, the guys they've been facing have been lukewarm at best. They're not all natural scorers. I'll give Kessel his. I'm also waiting for Lupul's next injury. Typical TSN, though. The Leafs were outshot by 2 to 1 and they showed little of the Ducks pressure, which had to be there.

The Leafs have played more home games to date because they'll be on the road while the World Juniors are being played. Had to jig the schedule to allow for that.

No problem there, but last night was the first time I've seen it mentioned. TSN hasn't touched it, Sportsnet is oblivious. It sounds to me like they're too busy pointing out the Leafs are for real without looking at the flip side of the coin. At HabsRus we tend to be glass half empty people, for good reason. The Leafs may be good enough to make the playoffs, bit they're not a .900 hockey team.

I'm okay with it ... besides, it wouldn't be about Anaheim's pressure, the focus would be on Bernier's brilliance ... I didn't need to hear that ... it's bad enough having to listen to TSN and Sportsnet flog "the-Leafs-are-the-hottest-team-in-the-NHL" ... it's accurate right now, sure, but they don't use phrases like that when the Habs go on a streak ... Cheers.

Hughson on McKeown today. Lots of positive talk about the Leafs, though Hughson did point out the road games are going to tell everyone a lot about the team, since you won't get the match-ups you get at home. It doesn't take a lot to move that lever from full on to full stop or part stop.

But they should be reminded that the Stanley Cup isn't awarded in December...not even in the third period of Game 7, Round 1 with a 3-goal lead. The Leafs won't go far, playoff-wise. Their Atlas-like goaltending won't be able to hold their world up under that pressure. Likely falter sooner than playoff time.
