We're not proving otherwise.....

Just a brutal giveaway by Emelin. he was elbowed in the face by that weasel Burrows. No call with the linesman right there. He may have had a chance to recover if it weren't for that cheap shot. Refs are distinguishing themselves all over the league this week.

Miller will be tough to beat tonight. He's on. but he hasn't been seriously tested.

That hit on Emelin was awfully late and probably should have been called a penalty. That doesn't change the fact it was a bad pass, but Emelin might have gotten back in time to affect the play if he hadn't been torpedoed.

In any case, that ship has sailed, so we have to adjust, and find a way to win this game.

Running comment....habs are the top team in the east.....just an average team in the west..... We're not proving otherwise..... their goal difference is only plus 1. Not what you would expect from an 8-2 team. The win / loss records suggests a dominant team. The goal differential says something else entirely.

Not what you would expect from an 8-2 team. The win / loss records suggests a dominant team. The goal differential says something else entirely. Well that 7-1 loss to Tampa kinda skews that as well.. But that said, no one can argue the Habs have played their best hockey in any game this year. But this is good news, we will get better. It also says a ton about the character of this squad, which is also a plus. We don't go 8-2 without it.

How can this team be so snakebit offensively? This team has scored 27 goals in 10 games, not a bad average. But 6 of those goals came in the Boston game. That leaves 21 games in 9 games, barely 2 per game. This pattern isn't all that new. Also there are too many guys that have done nothing still in the lineup - Bourque/Eller/Moen have one goal between them. Why the coaches continue to rely on them to produce something is baffling.

Emelin back out, so he's ok, except for that broken pride.

Richardson scores. Did it deflect off dman's stick or go right in? Done like dinner and well deserved so far by the Canucks. far too few guys playing well and the hockey gods, who liked us early on, don't any more.
When Brad Richardson scores a goal like that, you know the hockey gods don't like you. That was a great shot, but that is not Brad Richardson. Ovechkin gets that, I can't complain.

It's over. Some pretty brutal play this road trip, save for notables like Price and Galch.

LIne-up decisions haven't helped either, though it goes beyond that.

This game reminds me a lot of our games against the Sabres a few years ago.
We'd play the exact same kind of game....Miller would stop us when he had to....and we were usually beaten just like this.

OUr best players ( with the two notables menntioned above) have not been our best players. The first line looks like Sylvain Lefebvfre got ahold of them, Pleks has been bad, PK average at best, Markov not at his best, Gilbert and Emelin both below average. Only Tinordi IMO has played better than expected and we don't expect a lot from him, so that's not saying much. That's a lot of guys not at their best. Especially PK and Patches. We really count on those guys.
Its also amazing what good coaching can do. The Canucks were brutal last year and while they're not quite the same team (one could argue they have less talent this year), Desjardins is a very good coach and you can tell in their positioning.
Bourque can't make a pass, again.

Overall, a lot of passengers and not a lot of guys pulling.
