Morgan Reilly was second on my list after Galchenyuk in that draft. I love his skating. It's a lot like Paul Coffey's, smooth and effortless. Maybe not quite that fast, but close.

Had to laugh last night when even Greg Millen finally had to say something like, "I like Komarov...he plays hard…and he's had some success. But on the first line? He's a third line player." He and Dave Randorf were trying to protect the asset, but you know it's bad when Millen reaches his limit.

Replace Komarov with Weise and we have the same issue.

Replace Komarov with Weise and we have the same issue. True…but some of that can be placed on MT for not knowing how to best use his personnel. Besides, at least Weise showed some offensive opportunism in the playoffs. Komarov doesn't have that history. Nope….the Leafs are floundering with moves like that. We're much deeper along in development at the moment. And I was convinced that the Leafs were ahead of us during our bottom East finish in 11/12. Thanks to Molson for his due diligence in cleaning house and hiring MB. The bleeding was stanched.

If you want a laugh look at Bernier's work in the 3rd tonight - especially the Coyote's 1st goal 5 seconds into the period.
Leafs lose 3-1 their 8th loss in a row. Bernier - ugh!!

Can't wait to see the highlights, jkr!
3-15-1 in their last 19.
I want them to lose until there's no way they can come back. Then they can win all they want.
32 games left to get 45 pts. (93 pts. got last year's wild cards)
22-9-1 21-8-3 20-7-5
I think we're close to being secure.
EDIT: Found the 1st Yotes' goal.

"I know it was a back-to-back, and Arizona was rested….but the Coyotes are going to be selling-off….they know they're not making the playoffs….and they ring up 45 shots on the Leafs…" "If you (Toronto fans) want to be honest about your team, watch the St. Louis-Nashville game or the Montreal-Rangers game from last night, and tell me how close you are to that kind of play."
=========================================================================================
There's a great audio clip of Joe "Holy Mackinaw" Bowen and Jim Ralph doing the radio broadcast from last night...just before the long goal.
BOWEN: The old formula is working! They've gotten great goaltending from Jonathan Bernier.....SCORES!! Oh no! All the way from out at centre! Take that back! All the way from the blue line!"
RALPH: The Arizona blue line!

Well now they're just losing too much. Granted, they got a point, but still. ...and I think Jonathon Bernier can still be solid with a good defense in front of him... In the immortal words of Mike Birbiglia, what I should have said was NOTHING.

When was the last time we heard this kind of endorsement from anyone in the media outside of Montreal ... finally we're starting to keep up with the contenders ... that was a huge win in New York last night ... and, truth be told, I do feel badly for some of my Leaf friends ... Fans all over Bernier today.
Ironically, he and Reimer were the main reasons they went on a 10-1-1 run.
Reimer's outstanding game in Detroit painted a true picture of what was really behind that streak.
Even last night, Bernier had a shutout going after being outshot 21-6 in the second period.
Again…it can last only so long before the bubble bursts.

Toronto, thy name is fickle.
fact is, if you only score 1 goal on Arizona you don't deserve to win (hear that, Habs? I want GOALS on Sunday!).

I don't!! As soon as they win two games in a row, they start planning the parade all over again!! ya, but they normally start planning the parade in October. Their bravado will now take the form of, "We're getting McDavid or Eichel…." Which will mean a head start on the 2015-16 parade. "Canada's Team""Every great player/coach/manager wants to be Leaf."Cherry's cheerleading/apologetics Heavy national media bias. That's why I've really enjoyed these past 4 collapses.

Besides, at least Weise showed some offensive opportunism in the playoffs. Weise is perfectly capable of 'filling in' for a game or two. The trouble is when he fills in game after game after game. Considering Therrien's mindset, it's very likely he's sending a not so subtle message to Bergevin that he needs a top 6 winger. Perhaps. He hasn't considered using Sekac in that role, though and won't. It's just not in his DNA. He obviously doesn't think Sekac can do it. I like Weise. As a 4th or 3rd liner, getting about 8-10 minutes a game, he's great. Any more than that and your team is not a Stanley Cup contender and that's not a knock on Weise. He is a really good role/support player. He's not a top 6, except for a game or two. I'd like to know what goes through MT's head when he makes these choices, but I think I'd go nuts.

Wonder what Cherry said tonight.... Thank you Scott Moore for bringing this dinosaur back. Cherry was actually under contract for 2 more years. Rogers wasn't just going to put him out to pasture and pay for him to sit, whine, and complain about it . . . especially since he still has his following. I expect him to be eased out.

But you look at the replay and it's obvious that Bernier was ready. He followed that puck all the way. I also saw a replay where Bernier and Reimer were at the bench talking about it and Bernier hand signals to Reimer that the puck dipped like a knuckleball on him. Wasn't ready my ###.

Steve Simmons was wondering if a team had ever fired a coach twice in the same year. The Leafs are way worse since the coaching change.
They're starting to worry me now. They're legit lottery contenders at this point.

There's no way hockey fans can take him seriously with a comment like that. Leaf fans, however…. Instead of providing his keen insight as to what's wrong with the team/organization…he gives Leafers another one of his "It's not their fault" soothers. Zero integrity. ============================= More classic Cherry: When Kessler hits Dorsett, Cherry says, "He's lucky it was Dorsett….if it'd been a European, he'd a laid there….and he (Kessler) woulda got 5 games." Just can't help himself. And then more self-congratulations because Rick Nash mentioned "Rock'em Sock'em" videos.

For me the problem wasn't the goal, itself, it was Bernier's reaction after the game ... goals like that go in every so often but you don't always see a reaction like his ... Bernier really looked and sounded like he had let the entire world down ... he and his mates are trying but they just keep falling deeper ... and then there's the national pity parade as the media try their best to find any positives to keep the Leaf faithful hopeful ... normally something like that wouldn't bother me, but there are other Canadian teams struggling, Edmonton and Calgary, who don't receive the same national attention ... once the latest chapter on the Leafs misery comes on I try to find something else to do ... it's becoming very tiresome ... Cheers.
