This Grade 8 jock-bully mentality is no doubt rampant in all pro sports. Some of it is good-natured among friends....but this example is mean-spirited.
The NHLPA should beat the NHL to the punch...and fine both of them.
As if the NHL would do anything anyway.
Cherry has always gone unpunished exhibiting this nonsense....playing the ridiculous "I-question-your-heterosexuality card" if you don't think as he thinks on certain topics.
Sissy Euros and all you pansies and sweethearts out there (delivered with effeminate voicing) who are against fighting.
I can only imagine what kind of lowbrow things are said on Boston radio by the likes of the hosts and certain Bruins' players when talking about the Habs.
Arrested Development.

So Jamie Benn and the Dallas Stars publicly apologized yesterday for the comments made on the radio. To Benn's credit, he did not offer any excuse, and to responsibility for his childish comments.
Missing in the press release, however, was any mention of Tyler Seguin or an apology from him.

Maybe Kulikov "likes" the Sedin's. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Kulikov Gets 4 GamesSeguin's out 3-6 weeks….will cost him any hope of the Art Ross. Yeah, 4 games from the MENSA group in New York seems about right. I'd have given him 10 for that low-bridge garbage.

Another Art Ross contender goes down. Petrovic's blindside crosscheck to Kane's kidney area….acting like a power-boost…sending Kane off-balance into the boards. Broken collarbone. Out 6-10 weeks. No fine….no suspension for Petrovic. Am I missing something here? Isn't that a dangerous zone in which to do something like that? If done in open ice and Kane falls, no biggie. What happened to vulnerable position in relation to the boards? Seeing as the Panthers are chasing the Bruins, you can't pin this one on Daddy Campbell. I think that's a big miss by Quintal. I'd like to hear his reasoning.

Player safety is well down the list of NHL priorities. Only if it costs them $$ will they do anything about it.

the end of the enforcer is a bad idea . . . according to Cam Cole. Love some of the comments at the end, including Someone should tell Cole that Cherry's percentage of being right is exceptionally high. But pinkos and goodies don't want to admit it.

I think it's been shown that it really doesn't work anymore. Player A dirties Player B, Goon A and Goon B square off. Doesn't matter who wins. On to the next dirty play.

I'd like to hear his reasoning. I was watching TSN lastnight and they were showing this play over and over ... (I think it was That's Hockey) I didn't think it was as dirty as they were making it out to be. He does nudge Kane well away from the boards. There is no follow through on the push, and it looks like Kane then loses an edge and goes into the boards. i really don't think it was suspension worthy. It was outside the area I'd deem as the danger zone (3 feet from the boards). I'd have given him a penalty for sure.

Watching the Kane play from the back side, it wasn't much of a nudge. Looked to me like Kane lost an edge just after contact and went tumbling.

A lot of initial force can be generated when a quick, short crosscheck like that is applied to your midsection. Doesn't have to be a big follow-through. I agree it was outside of the danger-zone…but Kane was heading to the boards….so his momentum and inability to stop the fall made it worse.
I can see the decision going either way….so I'm a little cooler about it now.
Some people on other sites are accusing Kane of a dive gone wrong. Ha!
He had surgery to repair the clavicle and will be out 12 weeks….in time for the Western Final, if the Hawks get that far without him.

Clavicles are tricky business. The only athletes I know that have broken one and returned to 'duty' shortly after are motorcycle racers. One, they're nuts. Two, so much steering can be done with the legs that it's less strain on the shoulders than one might think. Patrick is going to struggle with even the simplest of things ... like wearing a seat belt. A cousin of mine broke his around the time NS introduced mandatory seat belt law. He had to wear the belt under his armpit because it hurt too much.

A goal allowed after the whistle. I think they got the call right, but the "intent to blow" part of the rule is going to be open to (even more) ridicule now. How can you rationalize an intent to blow call when you're allowing after whistle goals?

Not NHL…but former NHL goon, Andre Deveaux, with a pre-game, pre-meditated psychotic event in Sweden. (Deveaux, a 2002 Habs' 6th rounder, played 22 games with the Leafs and 9 with the Rangers….0G, 2A, 104 PIM). His Swedish team has terminated his contract. Some talk about criminal charges, too. From what I've read in another article, apparently it was "retaliation" for being hit by Helmersson in the previous game. DeveauxHmmm….where have we not only heard this explanation/excuse many times before…but had it accepted many times before? (Obviously translated from the Swedish reports to English, but you get the gist.) “The emotions took over for me there for a few seconds. Although my reputation seems to precede me, I am not a violent person. If anything, perhaps a passionate player. My intent was never to inflict any serious injury and given that I'm a much bigger person than As Helmersson it is clear that if the damage had been my intention, he had not been able to play the game or the subsequent.
“I realize I've made some strong comments in the heat of battle after we won the match series against Västerås and would like to take this opportunity to apologize to Vasteras, Per Helmersson and to all hockey fans after I lost my temper ... The focus should be on Rögle BK. We are a strong team who have worked hard together this year and took us to the SHL, it deserves to be in the spotlight now.”Deveaux was not penalized for his actions and played Thursday night, as well as the final game of the series on Sunday. Helmersson was not seriously injured and also played in both games.
A disciplinary panel has been reviewing the incident and expected to hand Deveaux a lengthy suspension, should he look to continue his career in Sweden.=============================================================================== Come on, everybody…it was the heat-of-the-moment. That's not the type of player I am. I didn't mean to hurt him. I mean, look at me! I'm so much bigger. I could've REALLY hurt him if I'd wanted to….but he didn't miss any games…so it wasn't that bad. I'm sorry, okay? Now, enough about all that….let's focus on the team.

Wow, that was absolutely vicious. He looked more like a rabid dog than a hockey player. Anyone who can't restrain themselves from unprovokedly attacking someone like that has some serious problems.

I heard Deveaux had gone MIA because the Swedish police were looking for him ... under Swedish law you can arrest someone for a report of a crime and they can detain you for up to 2 weeks without any just cause.
