Detroit exits their zone so efficiently. We're going to have a difficult time doing that if we face the Bolts.

Oh man. I hope Emelin is able to get Stamkos off his game with a few shoves here and there.

My brother-in-law and his two teenaged sons are die-hard Wings' fan.
They must be going nuts right now....

And the Bolts get a lucky bounce off the boards and into the empty net.
Prepare for Tampa, boys.
They didn't deserve this game.

Detroit had their chances in the first two periods and couldn't cash. Sound familiar?
Similar outings by us and we'll see similar results.

The game was there for the Wings. No smoked meat sandwich for Babcock.

One of his quotes from his pregame press conference. He was looking forward to going to Montreal for a sandwich from Schwartz's.

Cherry complaining that we're essentially getting a week off while the Wings/Bolts will only get one day off. So now he's turned 4 full days into a week? He can't count either.

We may have to get 4 shutouts. That's doable.

Tampa with only six 5 on 5 shots after two periods.....and we are scared of them why?

Tampa with only six 5 on 5 shots after two periods.....and we are scared of them why? My opinion: Babcock's a better coach and can do more with less. That whole series was back and forth. Tampa dominated game one, but lost. They dominated game two and won handily. Game six they didn't take over until the second half. The other games, Detroit was able to use their speed and 5 man structured units to control play. If not for the last couple of minutes of game 4, Detroit would have won the series. Tampa's 'triplet line' is very good, but small. Stamkos has played with Callahan and a rotating winger as they've been dressing 11 forwards. Callahan is a good two-way player, but he's not offensively gifted imo. I think that, and the winger rotation has led to some of Steve's struggles. I also think he had trouble with Detroit's speed. Steve is quick, but not fast. If you're fast enough to take his time and space away you can disrupt him. The triplet line, however, is very fast; especially Johnson.

Holtby's having a great game.
Cue Krash Kreider. Down 1-0 in the third period, he goes hard to the net, feels a Cap on his side...and takes the opportunity to stick his leg out to hit Holtby's leg on his way to knocking the net off its moorings.
No penalty. No injury to Holtby.
Garry Galley mentioned: Kreider has a habit of doing that and making it look like an accident. There are a lot of Montreal fans watching this who know what I'm talking about.
Before play resumed, they showed the Price clip from last year.
Trotz and the Caps better deter that crap ASAP!
The refs seem to think it's just fine.

Now Holtby gets a stick blade in the throat from Glass, knocking his mask off.
Not sure it was intentional, as Glass was in a battle in front and wasn't looking at Holtby....but I wouldn't put anything past the Rangers.
They get within reach of the goalie....and they're purposefully reckless.

Beat me to it CH. Was watching all of that. Glad Galley brought it up. Someday, Kreider will meet a forearm shiver from a goalie. If Billy Smith or Hextall were still playing that stuff would go punished. Love to see Price introduce blocker and paddle to his teeth.

Way to go, Caps!!!! That was boarding by Backstrom...hit Boyle in the numbers, driving the side of his head into the glass. But I really don't care. The Rangers have been taking liberties all night.
He'll probably be suspended...seeing as it was against the Rangers....
Vigneault is livid!
Good! How does it feel, Alain?

NY and Washington know each other very well ... good on the Capitals for going into MSG and handing the Rangers a loss in their own barn ... game on ... Cheers.

Caps aren't afraid. Beagle and Wilson bang. Ovi and Backstrom are big. Ward.
Hit was a penalty, but I'm in the 'don't care' camp as well. Karma bitches.

To a man, the HNIC panel was fine with the hit.
I still think Vigneault and Sather will raise enough of a stink to get Backstrom to sit for a game.

To a man, the HNIC panel was fine with the hit. I still think Vigneault and Sather will raise enough of a stink to get Backstrom to sit for a game. Here's the hit ... thought it was a head shot ... cost him a game ... ... I find myself comparing every questionable hit in the playoffs to Karlsson's hit on Beaulieu ... it wasn't a clean hit like Mike Johnson suggests ... it was a clear head shot and the league interpreted it otherwise ... I also read Kerry Fraser's explanation and I think he just massaged the issue ... despite was the rules state, it's become harder for me, as a fan, to identify just what a head shot is right now ... the explanations are confusing ...

Dis, I was referring to the Backstrom hit on Boyle tonight.
==============================================
No question about the Karlsson hit.
Let's face it...the reason it was declared "clean" on and off the ice is because it was Karlsson.
The "No history of suspensions" explanation is nothing but favouritism and double-standards masquerading as sound reasoning.
Fallacious.
If the league refuses to suspend you, how can you have a history?
I go back to the Chara-Pacioretty incident....and Cherry, at his national podium, declaring that Chara doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

I'm always amazed why, when the game's on the line, a team doesn't have Joel Ward lassoed, ziptied, handcuffed and duct taped. He seems to score more important goals than anyone. That seems to follow some guys around. Sheesh.
PS. Am very pleased with the Rangers loss. Who'd guess that Zuccarello meant so much to that team?
