We have 1 PP goal….and after Game 1 vs. Hammond, we scored only 7 goals in the next 5 games….and Price had to steal the series. The Bolts owned us in the regular season….and scored the most goals in the league. Bishop has stoned us the past 3 seasons… I won't even get into line-up decisions and ice-times. Unless we can generate, manufacture goal support for Price, he's going to have to steal every series.

Regular season doesn't mean that much to me.....we've dominated teams in the regular season only to loose to them in the playoffs. IMO the playoffs are a different game, physically and mentally. And I believe that we have that part of the game and Tampa does not. Plus we have Price, I don't see Tampa beating him 4 out of 7 games.

The last couple of games against Tampa, our guys noticed how to beat Bishop. However, they couldn't keep the puck out of their own net in the process. Price was lit up heavily. Even in the playoff series against Tampa last year, Price was scored on a fair bit.
Game 1: 4 GA Game 2: 1 GA (shutout breaker) Game 3: 2 GA Game 4: 3 GA
Defensive play is, alas, the only way to win this. Not sitting back, but not giving Tampa any room. When they can't get anything rolling offensively they get really frustrated (see Stamkos' penalty in Game 7 vs. Detroit). Snuff them out, lock up the neutral zone, and hope that our guys can get a goal or two on Bishop.

I might get banned for this, but I took Tampa in 5. Nothing in this season's series against Tampa, and the way the Habs played in the first round give me much hope. Then again, Ottawa has sort of had the Habs number as well... Go Habs Go! I'd be lying to if I said I didn't have any doubts ... as 17 put it, do you vote with your heart or your head ... I voted with my heart and said Habs in 7 ... and the car flag is up ... lots of them around town these days ... Cheers.

Sens fans and media complained we were dirty and we slashed and tripped and hooked our way to the win... But that is how you win in the playoffs, the Kings, Bruins won cups that way, so I think the fact this team has learned how to play in the playoffs helps a lot. But we do need more goal support for Carey or we are out of the playoffs this round IMO.

Moving everything to the outside, anything trying to cross the middle you hit them. Unfortunately this means a lot of 2-1, 3-2 games.

As much as I'd like the Habs to win this, I don't think that it will happen. Under the MT, the Habs will playing the same old way and will be beaten the same old way. It'll be the MTShell, DD getting No 1 centre ice time, and Price trying to dance on his head. For the Habs to win, you'd need PK to play as a true Norris contender, Markov to get a second wind, reduce DD's time on ice, increase Eller's and a lethal PP. Anyone see this happening?

The way I saw Round 1 is that Price stole a game, rather than the whole series. Looking at the series as a whole, the Habs had better possession numbers and outshot the Sens too. Now granted, I think that the Habs didn't play their best hockey, but I also didn't see the Sens completely dominate them in each game either. Agreed. Hopefully the Habs can figure out how to fix the PP. That will go a long way to giving Price the run support that he needs.

This should be a close series. Bolts want to avenge last year's playoff sweep and the Habs want to avenge this year's regular season sweep. I'm not a believer of Bishop as a money goalie and I think that the Habs' playoff experience from last year gives them the edge. Not to mention that they seem to play their best when the outside world has already written them off as losers. Needless to say, Game 1 will be huge. A Tampa win will make it 6 wins in a row this season and that will probably get into the Habs' heads. A Habs win will give them some much needed confidence to reverse the slide. All in all, it should be a dandy series, but I'm picking the good guys to win in 7. Hi FG. Nice to have you check in again. 1. I think Tampa's desire to avenge the playoff sweep last year was satisfied by the regular season sweep this year 2. Agree about Bishop. I don't think he's a good goalie as much as a freaking big goalie. Reduce the size of the pads and he'll be back in the AHL. 3. Yes, which is why I'm writing them off in 5. Hear that PK, Galch, Gallagher, Patches, Price? I've written you off. You're losers. So there. 4. Yes, could make all the difference. A Montreal win would plant a seed of doubt in the Lightning, boost the Habs' confidence. Nice to be back on the board again seventeen. I think beating the Habs in 5 straight this season definitely helped quench Tampa's thirst for revenge, but I listened to a Jon Cooper post-game interview last night, and it's clear that he's still stinging from last year's playoff loss, so Therrien is going head-to-head with a very motivated coach.

Here's a shock I can't see them winning.....I love being wrong. We have the best goalie in the world but they have a big D and a goalie who for some reason has lost like once in his career to us going back to his sporadic starts in Ottawa. Tampa just has to much scoring spread throughout all it's lines ....so unless Carey is ungodly every game and the Habs find some scoring punch this is going to be a short series. I know this team can play good D but they just don't score consistently 5 max maybe 4.....if they win it'll be in 7 ...hope they rise again and silence us doubters.

We beat the Sens...... a team that had our number throughout the regular season and were the HOTTEST team going into the playoffs (a team that no one else wanted to meet in the first round ). We did Ok, not world beaters by any stretch of the imagination, but good enough to prevail against a very good team, imo - I know that opinion was not shared by many on this site, but honestly, I don't know why - Sens were a dangerous team and could have easily flip flopped the final results on us)
The Bolts.....also had our number this season and they will probably carry that mindset into the playoffs coupled with the sting of being eliminated by us last year, without their number one goalie. That's got to be a motivating factor. They may not have been as hot as the Sens entering the playoffs (then again, nobody was), but they have the big goalie in Bishop (6'7"), a size that seems to be intimidating to our smaller forwards - not named Gallagher and they have a D similar in size to the Sens but without the goon mentality of a Grabandmassacreya and Balphabetiki, they have a very potent attack and have shown they can score goals. We, on the other hand, can not score goals at will and we will pretty much have to play the same defensive style we displayed against the Sens and hope for the breaks. This series for us, will be all about Price, the D and the willingness of our forwards to find a solution to Bishop..........and then, hopefully, do it all again against New York.
I didn't vote.

He robbed them in the decisive Game 6, darn near stole Game 4 by allowing only 1 goal, and allowed only 6 goals in our 4 Ws. By the same token, Anderson had a whale of a series, too. If the Sens had won, he'd have stolen it for them. We simply have to get to Bishop. That guy has had our number forever. I remember him stoning us when he was a Senator. I recall posting this picture:

I usually go the Toe Blake way. Predictions are for gypsies. I picked the habs in 7.
It's probably going to be tough.
Jump on them the first game, spank them. Then while everyone is blaming the short turn around, including TBay, beat them again in game 2. Be nice to put these guys down before they know what hits them.
This isn't the regular season habs. Say what you want about the Ottawa series, other than the last game, we had the edge overall. Ottawa was probably the best team in the league over the last couple months.

I'm very apprehensive but Detroit showed TB can be shut down - they were shut out twice in 7 games. And just look at game 7. With everything on the line and with Kronwall & Zidlicky out of the lineup they held TB to 16 shots & just one "real" goal. They've come through in the past when I thought they were down so I am not going to go against them now.
