And they've lost all confidence. The jump is gone, like they've already given up.

I agree the first penalty was dumb but why the extra two? They are being selective. They let Morrow away with clear interference on Smith-Pelly that led to a scoring chance yet they call Subban in a scrum like that. This is Chris Lee we are talking about, one of the worst in the league. Cmon jkr .... In the first period, they selected a Bolt in a scrum in front of Bishop. The only reason we complain about refs is because our PP bites , and it makes it seem the other team gets chances to score on their PP Too frustrated to reply to this now Skilly.

All this great defensive depth is not helping now.

I think it's dumb that a player can play without a helmet ...but it's blown down when the goalie loses his helmet ... A players head can't get hit by the puck??

Hey, maybe Habs can watch this game later and see how to run a powerplay - especially working it down low.

I think the playoffs just ended for me in terms of watching Habs' games.
Unless the equivalent of Lafluer, Shutt, and Lemaire join the team in the second intermission....
Nope...the time to jump on them was in Game 1.
Too bad.
Terrible, awful, wretched PP....all year long.

Inability to take advantage of outplaying them early, dumb penalties, and the game is out of reach. Sigh.

Tampa had a lousy first period, now they have all the confidence in the world.
Every other game in the regular season against Tampa went this way. Unless something miraculous happens in the next two games, we're toast. There's nothing here telling me they'll be able to regroup and win a game.

So , was DD the problem?
No ... The problem is we have ZERO offensive depth. So this habit of picking up defense has to stop. We had Tinordi, Drewiski, Gonchar ...sure Petry has been a good pickup. But I'd prefer a second liner

Way to go PK crew - allowing goals in the final minute of each period.

Six games now .... 6 goals
3 goals a game??? I'd settle for 1.5 or 2 at the moment.

Petry's penalty was no worse than Morrow's play on DSP in the first. They only called one of them.
I've seen Gallagher take a heck of a lot more abuse than Johnson did from Gilbert. Literally, hundreds of times, without drawing a call. They don't give Gallagher the benefit of the doubt cause he's small and easily knocked over. Johnson is huge isn't he....
It doesn't really matter since our pp and pk suck. Kind of plays towards TBays game though.

Seems a reversal of last year's playoffs.
Win in OT of Game 1. Blow them out of the building in Game 2.

But I'd prefer a second liner I don't know who was out there that he could have picked up. Chris Stewart has no goals in 7 PO games & I thought he would have been worth a try. Maybe Bergevin should have started earlier in the process rather than wait till the deadline & gone after someone like Iginla.

But I'd prefer a second liner I don't think anybody here was saying DD was "the problem". He works his butt off. I think the suggestions were confined to not being a first line centre. More suited to a 3rd line winger...where he had done well in the past. But again...I fully agree with your offensive depth. It's been like that forever. And it's one of the reasons the PP sucks anvils off the ground. It's been our problem all year long...and for years before that. Where's Pleks tonight? Our leaders appear defeated. #1 stud centre is a MUST....a la Bobby Smith. Almost impossible to trade for one of those in this era. So we'll have to develop one in the meantime! Cause the cupboard is empty right now in that regard.

If you can't score Flynn isn't the answer as we saw in the 1st. Maybe a guy like Hudon provides a short term spark to get them over the hump at least for 1-2 games. What did they have to lose, offense wise?

We blame NYR beating us on losing Carey early in the series. But Lundqvist barely broke a sweat. Everyone always asks "who was available" ... It didn't have to be the guys traded for St the deadline or July first. But we keep hearing all the time that there were names available that weren't moved. People say "no true second liners were available" , but then complain when we use Weise, and PAP and DD. There weren't better player than those available?? Cmon .... The fact is, as always, we weren't willing to pay the price. And when we are eliminated our GM will get in front of everyone and say we weren't ready to win yet. No , we were ready ...he was too conservative to make a bold move

Just because its doom and gloom out there, I'll through out a stat I heard on the radio...The only time the Canadiens have come back in a 7 game series, starting with home ice advantage and losing the first game - was in game 1 in 1993 against the Kings. Hopefully we can duplicate this.

The lightning are to us like we are to the Bruins this year. They are full of confidence and will out work us and have more scoring talent.
And it seems to me that they play our game at a much higher speed.
Was that the egg line?
