@hackswithhaggs: Hearing from a source that Zack Kassian has been dealt to the Habs why? TSN saying he has been traded, but not confirming to whom. He's a big bruiser. $2 million.

TSN saying he has been traded, but not confirming to whom. He's a big bruiser. $2 million. I understand that, but the question stands: why? unless he is going to be parked in front of the net on the PP, he'll have limited minutes. I guess we wait to see who is going the other way.

@hackswithhaggs: Hearing from a source that Zack Kassian has been dealt to the Habs Who's joe haggerty? Haggerty covers Bruins I think. EDIT 10 goals in 42 games last year. Don't know why he only played half a season.

@hackswithhaggs: Hearing from a source that Zack Kassian has been dealt to the Habs Who's joe haggerty? Haggerty covers Bruins I think. EDIT 10 goals in 42 games last year. Don't know why he only played half a season. back. the mercurial Vancouver Canucks winger is a polarizing player and personality, and that curiosity extends beyond the emotional fan base.
Willie Desjardins tried to establish trust and Jim Benning tried to move Kassian at the trade deadline. Missing the final 14 regular-season games and the playoffs with a back injury that won’t require offseason surgery is a double-edged sword for Kassian. He’ll be back. But how good can he be? He’s 24, but a wonky back can often make you feel like you’re 44 or 54.
“I feel like an old man,” Kassian said when asked to chronicle the discomfort. “I can get out of bed, but there were days when it was tough. It’s nothing serious and something that’s just going to take time, and I have no doubt I’ll be ready for next season. A couple of times I tried to skate and tweaked it. I came to the rink every day rehabbing and acting as if maybe we got to the next (playoff) round that there was a chance to play. Do I know if I would have or not? I’m not sure.”more

@friedgehnic: VAN gets Prust and a 5th for Kassian. Prust is 31 & has a year left on the deal. I wonder if that incident with the ref had a anything to do with this? He's married to a Montrealer so I'm sure he will be PO'd.

Been a fan since his draft year...lol I'm not the first to really love his potential...time will tell...Kassian ,at the price we paid ,is a low risk high reward from my perspective

You could see some lack of discipline, a poor first step and not enough hockey sense, in my thinking at least. So as time went along, I liked him less and less. And I've seen a lot of him as Canuck games are broadcast here in BC.

Wings gave up on Dion. Signed Green to a 3 year, $18 million deal. They're going to regret that one. He can't handle top 4 minutes. Given the Wings lack of real depth on defense, he's going to have to play top 4. Not sure Kronwall can cover for him enough. Green had a decent year in Washington because he was third pair.

Panthers and Bruins make trade. Bruins send Reilly Smith and Savard's contract to Panthers for Jimmy Hayes. Savard has $4 million cap hit for two more years, but his actual salary is less than 600k. Old front loaded deal.

Bruins use the new cap space and sign Beleskey to 5 years and just under $4 million. So much for him getting 5 and 5. Teams wouldn't budge on that one, for once. We'll see if he can replace Lucic.
