I am hoping Kassian gets to play with some talented line mates, to see what he can do. I've been hoping for "talented line mates" just about all of last season ... Cheers.

Put him with Max on the other wing and we got some 'Twin Towers' happening, particularly if you have DD in the middle. Then we just need to find another talented line mate to play centre One of the criticism of the Canucks management of Kas was that he was never given a decent chance to develop chemistry with the Sedins because the minute he made a mistake he was taken off the line. Good thing we have a patient coach who is forgiving of mistakes by his young players

It's easy to say that Galchenyuk fell into Bergevin's lap, and in a way it's true. Just like Carey Price fell into Gainey's lap. After all, were it not for Houle and Savard's teams sucking so much we wouldn't have had so many balls in the lottery, right? I don't disagree with your post, but you've got one point wrong. We just had one ball in the lottery.

Overall, I think this is a low risk, high (potential) reward move. While losing Prust is unfortunate, he was clearly slowing down; ironically I thought he was still ok offensively but his defensive game was going downhill, fast.
Now we get a guy who might turn into a serviceable player, but if he doesn't, we didn't lose any more assets, plus, we got a 5th rounder out of it all.
I'm all for his kind of move.

I agree, to me it is somewhat similar to Rene Bourque with less cap hit less term and better upside.

Well, both players in the deal now gone from the acquiring teams. The Canucks have waived Prust.

He's an upbeat guy and a veteran. Also knows what it was like when this team was doing well. He might be able to come in and give some perspective to the guys who are now in 'woe is me' mode. Also, given his wife is here, it might give him some more incentive, then again.

I got this from a friend so take it from what it is worth...I debated posting it, but it is like one of those secrets you just can't keep to yourself lol.
He was at a party with a certain... blowhard/blockhead radio personality with close ties to the Habs and he accidentally blurted out that one of the passengers in the car with Kasian was MT's daughter. If that was the case then it does make the rationale for dumping him so quickly a little bit more understandable.

If true, which I highly doubt, just confirms that exercising poor judgment runs in the family.

Good one.
Or Kassian was working on getting his share of ice time.

Good one. Or Kassian was working on getting his share of ice time. Well, that is the sort of 'merit system' MT understands. It sure ain't based on hockey skill or effort.

I realize the hockey community is rather small, but I don't think it's that small.
Regarding Prust, Canucks fans won't miss him. They thought his play got worse and worse as the year went on. Some debated that he played as bad as he did because he didn't want to be there. He might, might, provide a spark. I don't really want a spark though, unless it ignites the bomb that gets rid of the pieces we need to be rid of.

Heard a clip today in which Kassian said he holds no ill will towards the Habs.
He said Bergevin told him straight-up that he had one chance...and he blew it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Oil win with 2 gaols from Zach. MB can do no right!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Oil win with 2 gaols from Zach. MB can do no right! This seems to be a growing concern ... " Zach Kassian returns to Montreal a la John LeClair" ... the thing is, the Oilers have the talent to make this happen ... ah well ... if he gets a goal, he gets a goal ... maybe he'll flip it at MT ... then it would read, "... Zach Kassian returns to Montreal a la Patrick Roy" ... it is what it is ... won't stop me from wings and beer tomorrow ... Cheers.

Good one. Or Kassian was working on getting his share of ice time. Forget dating the daughter, MThead and I need to go on a treasure hunt...somewhere north of Inuvik...with shovels.
