8 years and $7.5 million per. Very dynamic player. IMO, the future leader of their core group.

At that kind of money and that kind of term, he'd better be the leader of their core for quite a while.
If he turns into a Kessel-type, they just handcuffed themselves for a long time !

He's the first since Ovi 8 years or so ago to have at least 37 goals and have the +/- he had. I think he's going to be a ppg player for the length of the extension. I'm not sure Armstrong is the right guy to surround the player with talent, but he's the focal point of their top 6. Pietrangelo is locked up to a similar deal for $6.5 million a year. Build around those two, who are 23 and 25 respectively. Barbashev might be Tarasenko's future center. Steen is a quietly consistent 60 point player. Statsny is eating a huge hole in their budget and under performing. He's got a NMC/NTC, which is a pity. Best thing for the Blues would be dumping his last 3 years on a cap floor team. Backes and Berglund are good enough for 2nd and 3rd line duty. Imagine if Tarasenko had that center, and they still had Bishop. With Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, Shattenkirk, and Gunnarson, they're pretty solid on defense. If Statsny played like a #1 center they'd be in really good shape.

Just as soon as I heard of the deal I thought about Max Pacioretty ... imagine what the numbers might be once his deal expires after the 18/19 season ... Cheers.
