My gut feel right now is that the Hawks aren't winning a 4th cup in 7 years. The CAP does make it tough to keep key guys together.

Lol. ...one of those your going to regret this in the near future type decision The Ducks have Andersen, Gibson, Vatanen, Lindholm, Despres, Rackell and Sekac who are all RFA next summer. Significant enough money will be needed next season...yikes!!!

Kesler's deal is ridiculous. It doesn't kick in until he's 32. He's already showing signs of slowing a little (during the season at least). His kind of game doesn't lend well to post 30. Even if he managed to be productive half way into that contract, and I don't think he will, nearly $7 million a year for your second line center is too much. Just look at the spot the Pens are in with Sid and Gino, and they actually have two #1 centers.
For the 16-17 season they'll have $23.75 million committed to Perry, Getzlaf and Kesler. They haven't signed Hagelin or Silfverberg to extension yet. I don't expect the latter to be cheap. Bieksa, Fowler, and Stoner are now your top 3 defenders in salary. Vatanen, Despres and Lindholm will all need extensions next summer. They're still going with Khudobin and Andersen in net. Andersen looks good, and won't be cheap to extend next summer.
That Kesler contract sets them up for cap hell, because with the cdn dollar where it is I don't see the cap growing in leaps and bounds any time soon.

Yeah, ANA will be the next team to have to dump promising young players who are poised to price themselves out of the Ducks' price/cap range.
