Marchand's predatory, blindside submarine on Borowiecki.... With his past, especially his similar 5-gamer on Salo in 2012, he HAS to be slapped with 10 games. He's a disgrace to the league. He could've broken Borowiecki's neck....let alone taken out a knee.... His explanation is just as rat-like: “It was simple play,” Marchand said after Tuesday’s 7-3 Bruins win at TD Garden. “I was trying to get to the puck-carrier, and I turned up ice, and (Borowiecki) was kind of standing there. I just turned up and tried to go after the puck-carrier.”Right....he didn't see him....just like Chara didn't know Pacioretty was on the ice or where the stanchion was.... Two guys I wouldn't mind seeing having career-ending injuries resulting from "unfortunate hockey plays".... Julien must be proud.... Marchand gets three games

He's just a little guy ya know. Has to protect himself against bigger players.

“I just want to acknowledge the situation that I’ve put my team in for being undisciplined and affecting the game for them,” Marchand said Thursday morning before the Bruins took the ice for practice at Gillette Stadium. “Taking away from the excitement of the fans, being a part of this rivalry, taking that away from them. And also for affecting this game for myself and putting myself in a situation to not be part of this. So I want to apologize, and I truly am sorry to everyone about this situation. It was not my intent to make a hit or try to injure anyone on that play.”
In Marchand's world, you can be undisciplined and still innocent….

I can tell you there are a lot of people from NS that would like to find a way to disown him.
He should have received a minimum 10 games. It's the second time he's submarined a player. First time he did it he got 5. Repeat offenders are supposed to get more games with each infraction, not less. Add in the spear later on, and the league continues to show that it's a joke.

The league probably considers the Winter Cashgrab a more valuable game so in their justification it counts for more than a 'regular' game.

Florida Panthers have given Gerard Gallant a 2 year extension. Congrats to the former Habs assistant!

Hits like that could end a guy's career...as Alain Vigneault once said when Marchand did that to Salo. Bruins tried to sell it as Salo making a run at Marchand but was quickly called out on that nonsense. I've noticed Bruins fans shaking their heads at this one, too.

LOL at Julien's frothy protest of Marchand's 5-and-a-game Salo submarine...

We are now 2 points from being out of the playoffs. Tampa is one point behind us, no games in hand, but they've been on a roll and I fully expect them to make the playoffs. Boston is 2 points behind us and has 2 games in hand. Boston plays Philly tomorrow and could be tied with us. No wonder Therrien's collar is getting tighter and tighter. What if Carey comes back and we make no progress?

What a brutal hit by Hendricks on Ekblad…. 3 games….and it wasn't even called 5-and-a-game by the refs…. Hendricks comes off looking a little "nuts" in this one…..

Easy target. Prior to that Gudbranson laid out Taylor Hall just as he took a pass and turned up the ice. Hall was looking back for the pass and got nailed good. No reaction from the Oilers but I understand the message. You go after our star we go after yours. I think that was what Hendricks was delivering. Frontier justice.

Lots not to like about that. Left his feet. Hit was high and from behind. I can't speak to the hit on Hall, but hitting a guy accepting a pass is far more a hockey play than running a guy from behind. All Hendricks did there was dump it in for the sole purpose of running a guy. What else don't I like? How easily Ekblad's helmet came off. That's a joke.

Here's a real cheap shot by Devils' Bobby Farnham. No word yet on discipline, but I believe there will be a hearing.

The guy's making 4 million & on pace for 40 points. He's 25 now. Where do they go? Seems like a lot of money for what he brings.

Tootoo got pasted for sure. I think the real damage was done before he went to the ice. Daneyko is providing 'expert' colour commentary. He's as bad at as Farnham is at hockey.

I understand the rationale for Hendricks (an eye for an eye), but much of all this is happening because the NHL wants it to stay. The refs don't penalize anyone and the NHL doles out these mickey mouse one and two game suspensions. The first 82 game suspension will stop headshots in their tracks. The NHLPA isn't complaining and the NHL loves blood. The Roman emperors wanted to satisfy the crowds' bloodlust, not have it pointed at them and the NHL is using the same philosophy.

I was watching that on a Twitter attachment. After the Farnham hit, Tootoo got in as well, but he picked the wrong guy. I think Tootoo even threw his gloves off first and took a swing that missed. Reaves didn't miss and nailed him good. He hit Tootoo one more time before realizing he was out of it and then immediately stopped. Daneyko was all over Reaves until it was replayed and he saw the truth and even then defended Tootoo. Those homers. Call a spade a spade.

After facing 40+ shots in a 2-2 tie….under a minute remaining….Bernier also gets wires crossed a bit with his d-man, Marincin, behind the net. Marincin was on his backhand…and just blindly fired it towards the boards. It gets picked off by Marchand who pots the winner into an empty net because Bernier wasn't quick enough getting back in position. Starting at 10:11 of the clip.
