That was FUGLY. Back hand, soft, pass to the half wall without looking. Man. I had switched over & was watching live. Reilly had lost his helmet & was on the bench. The announcers were making a big deal about it because the trainer couldn't find him another. The trainer put a helmet with #20 on his head but he took it off. They seemed to think that if Reilly were out there the turnover wouldn't have happened. IMO, if he really was eager to be out there he would have put anything on his head & jumped on.

Pitt shuts out the Canes 5 - 0. Now 1 point behind MTL with a game in hand.

Tinordi played his first game with Arizona I think. Played 15 minutes, finished with no points and even at plus minus. Not bad, against the Kings. Certainly better than Barrley has been for Montreal. .

I cannot stress this seriously enough. As a result of the league not taking serious action against this player, if I was on the ice and he did that to a team mate of mine, I'd McSorley him. I don't care how it would be perceived. I'd ensure it was the last time he took a liberty like that again. If he's gonna act like a cave man on the ice, he's gonna see the worst a cave man can do.

I'd say "enough is enough", but it isn't. liberties left and right, every game. Wasn't Weiss "gently nudged in the nads" last night in front of the ref? nothing happened -- no penalty, no retribution. as long as guys are going to get away with garbage they will -- Habs excepted, they just skate away from anything and everything.

Lucic's glove was almost at ice level when Connauton went for the puck....bang-bang play. I don't think it was an intentional slash to the wrist at all.
Milan's first response is usually the sucker punch....cave man, indeed.

Perhaps, if you want to say goodbye to your career and have to defend yourself in court. There's a double-standard and because Lucic has done this so many times it's easy for them to shrug and say, "Oh, it's just Milan."

I'm almost 40. My career would be at an end (lol), and that joke of a suspension is while he'll keep on doing it.

Phaneuf fights tonight and fights 2 games ago. The common theme - Phaneuf fights with full visor on.

Wideman with some feeble thinking....cross checks linesman, Henderson.
Looks to me as Wideman was thinking...."I've just been hit hard....I'm angry, perhaps hurt....I'm going to the bench....this dude keeps backing up, cutting off the route I wanted to take....get the $@#% out of my way....!"

I only just saw this on Twitter ... I really believe this was deliberate and that the NHL's credibility is on the line ... Weidman would have been penalized if he did this to another player ... being an official should not make it different ... Cheers.

Suspended indefinitely. Won't play for a week at least.

It's completely out of character for Wideman. There's an angle from in front of the linesman, and it looks less intentional. He went up to the entire officiating crew during the game an apologized.

out of character or not, he hit an unsuspecting (on-ice person) from behind. suspension warranted.
a non-tongue-in-cheek real one.

Wideman gets the max....20 games. Rightly so.
Dirtbag Gudas tries to take out Lessio's knee.....well, there's some grey area there, even though he's been suspended before........nothing.

I just get the feeling that if it was a Bruin, it wouldn't have been 20 games. We've seen how much the league doesn't care about repeat offenders. Bruins players have inadvertently punch linesmen in scrums and got nothing for it.

hockey play gone bad . . . Have you seen what their argument is, Franko? ... man ... intent to injure? you can throw Max into the turnbuckle and it's nothing though. you can take Lessio out and it's nothing. not that Wideman doesn't deserve something, but 20? the joke that is called the NHL continues.

I said "rightly so" for 20 games because it's in the rule book….and Wideman was clearly annoyed that no penalty was called when he was hit just before that.
You can't just knock an official down because you're annoyed…from behind no less. It's gonna cost Wideman $500,000….that's why he's appealing.
Hey…what a novel idea…..make players think twice before they do something like that.
But, yes…there is definitely an Animal Farm element at work when it comes to certain players and certain teams. Too many slaps on the wrists….and not enough Widemans.
The league should value its players as much as it values its officials….

I don't think the NHLPA is arguing that Wideman was annoyed at the officials. The Medical Evidence clearly shows that Wideman was suffering from a concussion. I'd guess that they are arguing Wideman had no idea where he was, and was doing he best to get help for himself as quick as possible. The counter arguement will be the arm extension clearly shows intent. I've never had a concussion so I've no idea what kind of a fog Wideman's brain may have been in. Tangential to this discussion, perhaps if the refs actually called the rule book , this wouldn't enter players minds (if it was on purpose)

If he was concussed, and his vision blurry, he could have thought it was a player on the opposition. Maybe.
I've had 2 concussions. The first was a grade two (blow to back of head). The second was likely a grade one (blow to front of head), but it was one I did see stars on. Things went black very briefly with white points of light. That was a very short instance though; just a couple of seconds. Neither concussion caused me blurred vision. Concussions to different parts of the head cause different symptoms and affect each person differently.
I don't recall whether Dennis was removed for concussion protocol and tested. It's impossible to know, if he in fact had blurred vision, how long it was blurred. It wasn't the whole game because he finished the game. If he was removed for protocol, and a vision test was done, they could have determined affected vision. He'd have been removed from the game though. If he wasn't removed for protocol, the Flames should be fined for NOT administering the tests to a player claiming to have been suffering symptoms.
