Gerard Gallant, Lindy Ruff and Barry Trotz all up for the Jack Adams ... here's the link ... Cheers.

Even though Washington enjoyed a 19-point improvement this year (from 101 last season to 120), it was bolstered by a strong season from Holtby.
Why wasn't Therrien up for the Jack Adams last year? (Rhetorical question.)
Both Ruff and Gallant missed the playoffs last season...
Florida went from 91 to 103 (12-pt. improvement). Luongo had a strong year. Dallas went from 92 to 109, (17-pt. improvement) with arguably the weakest goaltending of the 3. Niemi and Lehtonen had numbers similar to Condon.
My vote would go to Ruff.

Well deserved nominations all around, especially for Gallant. I think the Habs really missed his presence behind the bench when he left. Lacroix does not seem to be in the same league from what little this fan can see/assess/surmise.

He's able to say "yes, boss", much more convincingly than Gallant ever could.
The Jack Adams seems to have evolved into the "greatest improvement from one year to the next" trophy. If you miss the playoffs one year and make them the next, chances are your coach is going to be nominated. Consistently good coaches rarely win the Jack Adams. It also explains why so many winners get fired shortly after. The improvements are not sustainable because the team was never that good to start with. I'd guess most winner's teams had high PDO's that year...high save % and high shooting %.
Cynical 17.
While I'm trashing the trophy selection process, how about the Bob Gainey trophy for best defensive forward? It seems if you don't score 50 points at least, you don't qualify, no matter how good you are defensively. Takes a lot of good players out of the mix. Gainey would never win the award today.

I can see the voters using this reasoning.
Ruff has already won the Adams (2006).
Gallant was head coach in Columbus about 9 years ago...and is in only his second year as head coach in Florida. He's the new kid on the block among the nominees.
It's Trotz's 3rd nomination. He coached 15 years in Nashville, and has been regarded as a solid coach for years....he'll get it simply because "he's due".
If he's not going to win it after a President's Trophy, when will he?
