Juulsen named captain of the Everett Silvertips. The Tips are off to a great start with 9 out of 10 possible points in their first five games and 18 gf and 9 ga, so a lot more offense (so far) than they showed last season. If they continue on this track that can only help Juulsen's continued development and provide him an opportunity to develop both sides of his game.

Juulsen played his first game yesterday. Had an empty net goal and a PP assist. At this rate, should get 100 points this year.

Addison with a real nice debut with Windsor last night after a long camp with the Habs. He had 2+2 in a 4-2 win. Second Hab prospect to have a four point night so far this early season as defender Simon Bourque had four helpers a week or so ago.

Good night for our OHL kids. Addison and Bitten each with a goal and an assist and McNiven with the shut out.

A good night indeed ... like hearing Michael McNiven doing well ... can't have enough options at goal ... Will Bitten is highly touted ... why did Jeremiah Addison leave Ottawa, though ... was it just a trade ...
Cheers.

For Ottawa, he was an overager and the Habs could have signed him to play in the AHL since he turns 20 before the end of the year. They got some return for him. For the Spits, they are Memorial Cup hosts who follow the normal trend of loading up the team depth for a good run at the Cup next May.

Simon Bourque is quietly off to a good start offensively. The 19 year old defender has 9 points in his first 7 games. He also happens to wear the "C" for Rimouski. He is not talked about much, so just giving him a bit of air time!

I see two d-men quietly having pretty good seasons ... Noah Juulsen has 2G and 5A in 6 GP and Simon Bourque 1G and 10A in 9 GP ... Cheers.

I just checked on that, Dis and see that you beat me to it. I think the concerns about Juulsen's offense were overblown. That was a really low scoring Everett team last year. One year later, with more maturity and better players, Everett is scoring more, but still defending as well as ever and are one of the top WHL teams. Juulsen was also named captain by Kevin Constantine, citing his maturity. He's a keeper.

Was getting a little concerned a year ago. If he keeps it up Everett should have good team this season. Besides Juulsen they have good goalie

Besides Juulsen they have good goalie They are being led offensively by Patrick Bajkov, a late 1997 birthday who was not drafted last year. They have some promising young defensemen who are playing well, Juulsen is starting off great, and Carter Hart is the last line of defense in net...and he is a really good one. Kevin Constatine is always going to be preaching a strong defensive approach, so they likely won't give up a ton of goals. The change this year is they are popping a few more in the other net. They have the best winning percentage in the WHL right now, so things are just ticking along nicely so far in the early season.

If not, the Habs likely drafting late first round and 2 second rounders any chance they end up a Hab?

Victor Mete with a big night for London, with a couple of helpers and the GWG in a 5-4 win. The small, smooth skating defencemen is having a good start to the season.
Last night, Matt Bradley had a goal and a trio of assists in a big Medicine Hat rout of Kootenay. He will probably need a good year to get a contract next summer.

Mete maybe another Gostisbehere? j/k His game is all about his elite skating, but there has been some recent acknowledgement about his defensive effectiveness as well. TT gave some hints about that after the draft when he talked about Hunter using Mete in key defensive situations in close games. He will never be the big crease clearer because of his size, so he has to rely on good body and stick positioning to break up zone entries and rushes. On the offensive front, his shot is seen to be quite weak for a defenseman, so he will need to work on that strength to be more effective from the point. He is definitely worth keeping an eye on. He was expected to be drafted before spot #100, so he is good value for the Habs so far.

A beauty goal by Juulsen.
A nifty behind the goal pass by NCAA prospect Jake Evans (#16 in white).
A great job by Mete to sneak into a great scoring position and snipe one home on the PP.

Next month's annual Canada-Russia super series will have some Habs' flavour to it this year.
Team WHL includes Noah Juulsen.
Team OHL includes Michael McNiven, Will Bitten, and Victor Mete. Bitten gets to play in both games, the others are just in for one of the games each.
Team QMJHL has not announced yet and should do shortly. Our only Q prospect this year is defenseman Simon Bourque who is having a very good start to the season.
