Neither were offensive threats much, but they were stalwarts defensively.

I wouldn't call it a trap either. They pressured the puck all 3rd period. It wasn't until Erie pulled their goalie that they got consistent pressure in the last period.

Sergachev named to Mem Cup All Star team... good for him... great confidence boost He played with what I would call quiet confidence the whole tournament. Not flashy like Chabot. Smooth, quiet, steady, and chipped in where it made sense. He showed a lot of poise. I can recall only one mistake tonight, and he still got the puck out of the zone. He made a play where he tried to evade a checker behind his net with one hand on the stick. He wasn't able to cleanly skate away from them, but he was able to shovel the puck out of the zone despite being angled towards another Otter player.

Strome fooled him on one play in the first. The puck was shot into the corner and Sergachev beat Strome to it and dared him to try bodying the puck off him. Strome faked pulling up and then spun around him and stoke the puck. Quite a smart play.

Honestly guys, I wasn't as impressed with Sergachev as I hoped to be. He rarely outskated anyone out of his zone and seemed to lack intensity. He's a very good passer and has a heavy shot. Did anyone notice examples of a good IQ?

Marc Bergevin gave Brett Lernout a big pat on the back today, as well ... Bergevin was quite high on him ... mentioned that they liked what they saw in his game in the short time he was with the club ...
Cheers.

Both Victor Mete and Will Bitten have been announced for the tryout roster for the 2018 Cdn WJC team. Bitten's probably a long shot, but I think Mete has a chance. It would be nice if both made it.

Mete hung around for a while in the final selection camp last year as an 18 year old. He was really solid with London all season long. He has a decent shot at a spot. He is likely the best skating D in camp. Nice to see Bitten get an invite. Hamilton changed his role last year and there are some good draft eligible forwards at camp this year. It will be competitive for sure.
