If you are not confused yet, let me try to really blow your mind .... and that's why I quit in the other thread, before my head exploded.

Boo!! Leafs are in. Pittsburgh gives up 3 goals in the last 5 minutes & loses 5-3. it had been a good evening before I saw that. so I am about to do something that I've never done in my life: cheer for the Leafs and the Bruins. the Bruins so we can beat them in the division final. the Leafs so we can beat them in the conference final (that one's a real stretch, I know). and if both teams get shellacked in this first round I'll cheer loudly as well.

Depending on how things go tomorrow, Leafs will play either Ottawa or Washington apparently. Andersen has had a couple of blows to the head in recent games, and not looked good after any of them. He's not playing against Columbus. He needs a serious evaluation re concussion protocols. The Leafs would need him to stand on his head to beat the Caps. I don't see them winning more than a game, honestly. The Bruins? Hard to say. I don't believe McElhinney can do enough to keep it close. If Andersen is cleared to play, you can bet the Bruins will be running him. I think the Bruins are beatable.

I don't see the Leafs (nor the Bruins)beating Washington. I don't see the Bruins (nor the Leafs) beating Ottawa. I know the Leafs "have a history", but the "Battle of Ontario" is history. Anderson > Andersen, if both of them can play.

Foligno, remembering being 5 years old and seeing the Leafs lose to LA in '93 . . . even though the Leafs were the best team in the playoffs. I guess you have to hold on to something

Just had a look at the standings and the goal differential column. My jaw dropped when I looked at the Avs. They are - 112. They scored only 166 goals. With those top picks it looked so promising a few years ago.

ANA and LA off to OT, so that gives the Ducks the division and the Oil will finish second.

Edmonton wins 2-0 with 2 shorties. But Zach Kassian was hitting everything he saw, and on at least two of his hits, he clearly left his feet. The playoff double standard is alive and well, ... time for the NHL to release that playoff rulebook

I saw those hits. The 2nd one was suspension worthy but I don't think he even got a charging penalty. The guy is a goof yet they were full of praise for him. IMO he's just another Raffi Torres. He's really going to hurt someone ( he's served a lengthy suspension in junior) & everyone will be wondering why. It's because clueless referees let him off the hook. Here's an article on the junior incident. www.thewhig.com/2010/01/22/injured-kennedy-says-kassian-20-game-suspension-no-concern-of-mine

AFAIC, it's sadly nothing to do with the playoffs. We see that go uncalled in the regular season as well.

Why can't the blindside referee's whistle be over-turned by the other ref when the puck clearly isn't covered?
I guess because the other team could say they let-up when they heard the whistle....whatever.
Preds just got ripped on the opening goal...

And in typical NHL fashion, the genius that makes that call won't have to explain it. He'll just slink away. A potential Cup Final altering mistake.

No goaltender interference. Unbelievable bounce and timing for Hornqvist....while Nashville can't buy one.
Oh well...the Preds did all they could.
Had Johansen not been injured...who knows?
The Preds will be solid team for a while, yet....just starting.
Congrats to the Pens.
Murray was really good tonight. Interesting to see who gets the Conn Smythe...

2 biggest calls of the game & Pittsburgh gets them both. They also got a HUGE break in Game 4 vs. Washington with the Bonino head-snap on the Oshi phantom high-stick. Negated any advantage with Holtby pulled. Pens go up 3-1 in the series. That's what I like about the NFL...the officials take all the help they can get. Kevin Pollock blew it....literally. And the NHL is just fine with it. I'd be livid if I was a Preds' fan.
