Yeah, but is it more fun knocking the Leafs out on the last day? Leafs can still go 0 for the next little while and either the Isles or Bolts go 3-0.

He should get 5 games ... but I'm willing to bet the NHL only gives him 2 (ie, the rest of the regular season)

I'm thinking last two regular season games (keep him stuck at 39 goals) and the first two games of the playoffs.

Not surprising that the Leaf commentators are now screaming for a Marchand suspension. They were no where to be heard when he had his fine rescinded, or nothing was done to him when he slew foot 2 players in a very short timeframe this year.
Marchand will argue that Crosby did not get suspended for a similar act. That's fine, but the NHL better take into account that Marchand has gotten away with way too much for far too long and hit him with at least 1 playoff game.

I see 2 games, max.

TSN has video and articles pretty much touting the Leafs as having already clinched a playoff berth. They likely will, but they haven't clinched yet.

They were no where to be heard when he had his fine rescinded, or nothing was done to him when he slew foot 2 players in a very short timeframe this year. Considering how the Leafs may face the Bruins in round 1, of COURSE they're now concerned about Marchand's shenanigans. I mean, what are they worried about, they have Kadri who leaves his feet to hit and only when the numbers are facing him.

Happened again in Toronto.
Hunwick lifted Drouin's stick which came up and hit Drouin in the face.
The refs were going to call a penalty on Hunwick.
Again....they confer....the main scoreboard video shows the replay. Crowd yells its disapproval.
No penalty.
If an official replay can't be used...then rinks shouldn't be allowed to show a replay while the officials are deliberating. If human error is allowed, then allow it.

Sens clinched with at least a single point vs. Boston.
That leaves Toronto, Tampa, and the Isles.
If the Leafs get a point against Tampa tonight, Toronto gets the final spot.

Leafs down 3-1 to Tampa with about 16:00 left in the third.
Should the Bolts hold on, they'll be very much alive tomorrow night.
Sure would be nice to end their season.
But...it would also be nice to prolong Toronto's agony....
Dilemma.....

Matthews was given a really rough go tonight in Tampa. Expect worse in the playoffs, kid.

Matthews was given a really rough go tonight in Tampa. Expect worse in the playoffs, kid. Yes. Dotchin, the victim of Marchand's spear, went knee-on-knee with Matthews. That went uncalled. Later in the game, Coburn gave him a good run from behind into the net. That earned Coburn 2 minutes for interference.

I'm loving it watching leaf fans squirm. 40 foot trailer going over the cliff? They're 3 points ahead of the Islanders. They both have 2 games to play. Islanders finish at NJD and home to the Sens. Leafs host the Pens and Jackets. Think the Sens would roll over, now that they've clinched, in an effort to keep the Leafs out? lol Better question is how do the Sens have 96 points and a -2 goal differential?

If the Leafs get a point against Tampa tonight, Toronto gets the final spot. Nah, the Leafs need two points to clinch. Both Tampa and the Isles would hold the tie-breaker against them if they end up tied. Scenario if Leafs lost last night in OT Leafs 94 points (38 ROW) Tampa 90 points (36 ROW) NY Isles 90 points (37 ROW) So if Leafs lose to Pitts and Columbus; 94 points (38 ROW) If Tampa wins out in regulation or OT ; 94 points (38 ROW) Won head to head vs Toronto ... If NY Isles win out in regulation or OT; 94 points (39 ROW) Gets the #8th seed based on ROWs However, Had the Leafs lost in a shootout. Tampa would have been eliminated. They would have had 90 points, but only 35 ROWs ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you are not confused yet, let me try to really blow your mind .... Let's assume that all three teams end at 94 points and 38 ROWs ... So the Isles win one game in a shootout, and Toronto loses one in OT/SO. Who gets in? Well that one is pretty easy. Since Tampa won the season series against both Toronto and the Isles, they get in. BUT if the Isles end up tied with Toronto, foolishness comes into play. The season series was @ Isles .... NYI W @ Isles .... NYI W (OT) @ Toronto .. TML W But since they played three games, the first game in the city that hosted the most DOES NOT COUNT. So even though the NY Isles won 2 out of three games, Toronto would get in since they got 3 out of 4 possible points in the other two games.

There was a scenario prior to the Leafs last win where it could have come down to goals for/goals against .. And even that's close between TBay and Toronto. The NHL's site doesn't say how they break a tie breaker if the goals for and against are tied, I guess it's a coin flip?
