Sergei continues to light it up like mad.
In 27 games, he has 16G and 28A for 44 points.
We all know that OHL success doesn't mean a long career in the NHL, but this is certainly incredibly exciting to watch. Hopefully he won't suffer in the AHL like Corey Locke is right now.

Sergi has already doing something that his brother never did, play an entire season for one team! I'd love to see tham both with the Hab's. Richard's, Mahovlich's, what was our last brother act?

I was at the IIHF site checking out the WJC-B tournament stats. Belarus beat Kazakhstan 5-2 to finish first overall, they’ll move to the big tournament next year. Siarhei had 2 goals and an assist, named player of the game for Belarus, 5 minutes for high-sticking, a 20 minute misconduct and kicked out of the game. In the second last game, Siarhei had a goal and two assists, named player of the game for Belarus, 2 minors and a 10 minute misconduct. He led the tournament in scoring with 9 points (4g-5a) and led in penalty minutes with 43.

A nice little read...
Saturday, March 18, 2006 Kostitsyn impressed by Datsyuk By RYAN PYETTE, FREE PRESS SPORTS REPORTER
As a Montreal draft pick and the younger brother of a Canadiens player, you have to go fairly big league to impress London Knights forward Sergei Kostitsyn.
But the 18-year-old Belarussian was clearly thrilled to chat with Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk in his native tongue earlier this week when several Knights trekked to the Motor City to watch Corey Perry and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks play the Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
"Russian and Belarussian are almost the same," Kostitsyn said. "He asked me where I was playing and how I liked it. It was good (to talk to him)."
The 27-year-old Datsyuk, who hails from Sverdlovsk, Russia, isn't the biggest player, but he has a boatload of skill, something that didn't go unnoticed by the talented Kostitsyn.
"Good hands and a good head," said Kostitsyn, referring to Datsyuk's smarts on the ice.
After the game, Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan brought the Knights into his club's dressing room for a look around and to meet some of the players.
"It's good -- better than ours (in London)," Kostitsyn said with a grin, "But it's not as nice as Montreal."
The Knights were then taken to dinner at Cheli's Chili, a downtown Detroit restaurant owned by ancient Wings defenceman Chris Chelios.
"We were brought to the second floor for our own private meal and it was great food," Knights forward Jordan Foreman said. "In the parking lot, there were unbelievable cars like Beemers, Bentleys and then there was our big white van."
It's all different stuff for Kostitsyn, whose homeland's government was recently described as one of the "last outposts of tyranny in Europe" by the United States. The eastern European country goes to the polls tomorrow to elect its president and the U.S. has been highly critical of "attempts at intimidation, electoral abuse or violence" in the name of longtime leader Aleksandr Lukashenko.
Though he is old enough to vote, Kostitsyn said isn't all that interested in politics back home.
"Lukashenko was good for hockey," he said. "But I don't care about who wins or anything."
Kostitsyn meets with a tutor in London at least once a week to help him with social interaction, including skills native Londoners take for granted, like placing an order at Tim Hortons.
"We hear Sergei is ahead of his brother (Andrei) in English right now and his brother played in (Hamilton) last year," Knights assistant GM Jim McKellar said. "He's a good teammate and one of the most popular guys in the dressing room. The guys actively seek him out to do things, which really helps."

Young Sergei loses out to "exceptional" wonderkid Tavares in the OHL rookie of the year race. Tavaras as a fifteen year old has made quite a splash in the CHL debut against much older players. Kosty's consolation was winning the actual regular season rookie scoring race over the youngster by a mere couple of points. Kosty was named to the OHL first all-rookie team, so that is something to be proud of as well and is way ahead in the rookie playoff scoring race. With his team now up 3-1 in the semi series, there is a darn good chance he will win that rookie scoring race running away.

The leading OHL playof scorers are
1. Schremp
2. Kostitsyn
3. Hunter
4. D'Agostini
Schremp is eight months older than Kostitsyn, and was thought to be one of the most talented prospects in his draft year.. Hunter is nearly two years older. Kostitsyn is shaping well, and D'Agostini not badly either.

Sergei finishes off the playoffs second in scoring behind Schremp. Sergei gets two more points tonight in a losing cause as his defending champs London lose to Peterborough who sweeps them in four. Sergei ends up with 37 points in 19 games, with an incredible four games in the playoffs with four or more points (wow). www.ontariohockeyleague.com/stats/gamebygame.php?id=4243Hab prospect Greg Stewart had a good game and scored a goal in the Pete's win and will the lone Hab prospect at the Memorial Cup.

I didn't see the series. What caused London to lose? Lack of defence?

London lost cause they were outmatched. The Petes depth gave them an edge that London didn't have. Plus some stupid penalites are the wrong time hurt.
I watched last nights game and Kostitsyn was easily one of London's most effective players. First his pass to Schremp showed some nice hands. He took it into the O zone made a move but brought the puck back in close to him, then dished it right away to Schremp who fired a great shot. Then later on he scored on the PP from a really nice point shot. He was also physical, he did get nailed once but bounced right back up. He hit Dowine good, knocked him to the ice then hit another guy a couple seconds later. The good thing is he saw a lot of ice time so likely had a great experience.
Stewart had a really tough playoff but he seemed to wake up last night, he got a goal by driving hard to the net and stuffed it home. It was more his strength that got him the goal and his willingness to get his nose dirty. He also had a huge hit on Pelec (sp?) he came flying down the ice and just crushed the kid. Hope he continues to play like this at the memorial cup cause he's gona need to impresse Gainey to get a contract out of him before June 1st.
