Both the OHL and QMJHL final series could wrap up today.
Bitten and Hamilton are up 3-2 against SSM. They play today at 2:00pm EDT and it is on Sportsnet360.
Alain and the Armada will be fighting to avoid being eliminated by Acadie-Bathurst, as they are down 3-2 in their series. I believe it is on TVA Sports for those in QC.
The Memorial Cup starts next Friday, and Cale Fleury and his Regina Pats will finally get a meaningful hockey game again after a long wait.

From looking at the A-B Titan roster, there's very little there for a scout to be excited about. Noah Dobson is about the only guy. It's a veteran team with a lot of 19 and 20 year olds and not a very high scoring one. It might be the least exciting team to come out of the Q (if they beat the Armada) in quite a while.

Hamilton wins the OHL. Bitten is off to the Memorial Cup. Yes! I saw highlights of the 5th game and unfortunately, Bitten was nowhere to be seen in any of them. I'm beginning to lose faith as one of 'my' criteria for prospects is improvement in the playoffs. His ppg in the playoffs is substantially down from his regular season.

There will be some junior hockey worth watching with the Memorial Cup starting tomorrow. Both our prospects participating will be going head to head as the tournament opens tomorrow night with host Regina Pats (Fleury) taking on the OHL Champion Bulldogs (Bitten). Here is the schedule of games, and all will be on Sportsnet. We will have a prospect on TV every night of the round robin except for Saturday night. Enjoy!!

Regina defeats Hamilton 3-2 on a late goal. Neither Bitten nor Fleury were involved in the scoring. On the good side they weren’t on for any goals against.
Les Titans take on Swift Current today.

Any speculation about what the plan for Fleury is this fall? I know the Rocket have sign a number of forwards, but defense looks like an issue and if this kid is AHL eligible, I would estimate he possess tool set to make the jump.

I expect he will get signed to his ELC this summer. He saw some really nice progression this year.

Here is Cale Fleury making a great defensive play in the last minute of a tied game on Friday night, and then moving the puck up which lead to the game winner with 33 seconds left. He also had some very nice crushing hits in the game, rubbing guys out into the boards.

It's great to see these types of plays.

Nothing confirmed on this side of the pond, but it is reported in the Czech sports media that a couple of defenders have signed with Montreal. Both guys are young left handers (we are weak on that side) and both played for the Czech Republic at the recent World Championships.
Michal in 23 and has decent size, David is just 21 and is undersized. Don’t know anything else about them other than their stats. Once confirmed over here, this is AHL depth move no doubt.
Hopefully the Habs get free agent LHD Olivier Galipeau signed now that the Memorial Cup is over. Those rumours have been around for a while now.

A small quote from Cale Fleury about the possibility of turning pro. The Habs will have lots of time with him with the summer development camp and the fall rookie camp/tourney. There is no rush to sign him.

I'd like to know the reasoning here. Maybe he's a guy that our team doesn't really have room to develop, yet who's ready to go pro ?

He's younger, they have more years before they have to sign him if he stays in school. I'd say Primeau is close to passing him on the depth chart.

I think that Primeau's projected development path caused this trade. It will be interesting to see how both goalies progress now.

Hopefully there will be a few spots open at centre in camp that haven't been filled by the club's Pro Scouting Dept ... I'm thinking Jake Evans might be more NHL-ready than Jesperi Kotkeniemi, but we'll see ... I'm hoping Evans establishes himself in camp and eventually wins a job ... don't want to see them rush JK ...
Cheers.

I'm hoping the pro scouts get us guys to fill the slots, but guys who can be pushed aside if a kid is ready. I have no problem with signing Peter Holland, Logan Shaw or their like to filler contracts, and see them get buried if a kid is ready - and also see them fill in at the NHL level if the kid isn't. I just don't want to see long-term assets wasted to acquire filler, or long-term contracts given out to UFAs to attract them, which stop the kids from progressing. Of course, that requires that some kids actually be ready, which is a whole nother ball game.
