Welcome to the Twilight zone, namely, Sylvain Lefebvre's house of worship. There is an AHL rule regarding a maximum number of NHL veterans one can dress for a game, 5. It seems KHL players are equated with NHL players and both Jerabek and Gelinas fit the category. So does Taormina, of the defensemen. I can see dressing Taormina, who is an excellent AHL defenseman. So, then it comes down to choosing between Gelinas and Jerabek. Gelinas - big shot, great skater, Hockey IQ of a lawn sprinkler, entirely unlikely to ever make the Habs. Jerabek - Good skater and puck mover, needs to learn to play on smaller ice surface, development crucial to Habs. So, naturally, Lefebvre picks Gelinas. No, you are not hallucinating. There is no logical reason for that decision. I still have no freaking idea why Bergevin would even offer him an extension. I seriously wonder, despite the big improvement in talent on the roster, if this team can make the playoffs with Lefebvre as coach. He will find some way to derail the train. I'd love to know if Berg was aware that he was going to be breaking this rule before he traded for that new winger...

Baun is not an AHL vet, Martinsen was. Ditto with Redmond. Still puzzling about Jerabek, but the scuttlebutt is that he may be recalled for one of the Habs weekend games. We shall see. Morrow is not an AHL vet by the way. Schlemko is practising, so someone likely has to be sent down. I really don't see Jerabek going up as they could have 9 healthy soon without Jerabek.

3-0 good guys. Goals by Big Mac, Audette and Deslauriers. Lindgren with the SO.
The top line last night was Terry-McCarron-Scherbak and put up a strong performance. Good to see from two guys who need to show something this season. Nice to see them playing with Terry, who was the consistent sniper last season.
The second line will be interesting to watch, assuming Sly keeps them together. Holland and Froese are good young vets to help rookie Reway as he gets back into game shape as his long recovery from last year's lost season due to his severe ailment.
Little Audette should benefit from easier matchups if he stays on the third line.
Taormina and Lernout were the top pairing. Playing with the AHL top defender last year should really help Lernout's progression. Of course, the D pairing will shake up once they get Juulsen back from injury, Jerabek plays, and Morrow and perhaps one other is sent down once Schlemko is cleared to play.

Rematch against the Baby Sens is tonight, and it sounds like Jerabek will play.

Reway getting the night off, as they likely are going to manage his usage until he is back in game shape. Jerabek in.

6-2 final. Goals by Holland (2), Leblanc, Gregoire, Petti, Eisenschmid. Lindgren with the win.
Jerabek with two assists, Holland with two goals, Gregoire and Petti both 1+1 nights. Scherbak with a beauty assist in a two on one with Holland.

Can't imagine it's long before Jerabek gets the call. The guy was a KHL all star last year, had three assists in his last pre-season game and had two helpers in his AHL debut. I think he might be starting to adapt to the smaller ice. Oh yeah, and he is much more mobile than a certain guy named Streit. He was the easy guy to move to Laval because he does not have to clear waivers, but if he keeps this up I imagine he will have to get the call.

Highlights from their home opener 3-0 win. Lindgren looked solid and what a play by Scherbak on McCarron's goal. youtu.be/-7IemrFR5pg

Oh yeah, and he is much more mobile than a certain guy named Streit. He was the easy guy to move to Laval because he does not have to clear waivers, but if he keeps this up I imagine he will have to get the call. I read a story yesterday where he was interviewed and while he refrained from criticizing anyone, he was not happy at being scratched from the first game. Can't blame him in the least. The absolutely only explanation I can come up with is that Levebvre was playing a Therrien. He scratched him because he could, and dressed Eric freaking Gelinas instead. IN order to call up Jerabek, they'll have to do some winnowing at the NHL level. Someone else (Streit, Morrow) will have to be put on waivers. Mete has been in the Habs top 3 dmen in the first two games. There's no reason to send him to London. The kid can play. Jerabek looks like he can too. That instant touch pass to Froese was really smart.

He likely called Marc Bergevin right after that to request an extension to his contract.

Schlemko being sent down for a conditioning stint. That is progress for our mystery man. At least someone will see him play a real game lol.

I think we should temper our expectations for Schlemko. Even if he is a decent player, you can't expect a guy to be at his peak after one AHL game. It's going to take him at least 3 or 4 games to get his timing, touch, etc.

It's going to take him at least 3 or 4 games to get his timing, touch, etc. Expectations are very tempered, I must say. Let's recap Berg's free agent D signings at this point: The best looking guy is playing in the minors. The old guy just got waived. The mystery man has yet to play a game. The other guy who struggled to get ice time in Beantown with our new coach looked really bad in pre season and has yet to dress. Very tempered.

Schlemko is considered the cream of that crop, though, no? If only it was easier to spell his name. I'm expecting him to be an ok 3rd pairing dman, much like Davidson has played the last couple of games.

17 GF in their first three games, and good crowds in their new barn. Great start for the franchise, but likely very difficult to maintain. They are back at it against Bingo this afternoon at 3:00 pm ET. If anyone has RDS2, it is televised.

Laval lose 6-5 in OT to WBS Penguins. Michael Sprong with the hat trick for the bad guys. Lindgren gave up all six in the loss. Scherbak with two assists. He now has 8 points in 5 games and sits 7th in league scoring. Terry is 8th and Taormina is 12th. Jerabek has two assists and McC had a 1+1 night.

Fucale makes good on his first start this season. It was his second appearance as he did come in relief for Lindgren and picked up the win then. Rocket beat Bridgeport 6-3. Carr with a three point night, Taormina with two more assists, Parisi with two goals from the blue line, and Scherbak with an assist, his 9th point in 6 games.
