His passing skills look outstanding. Unfortunately, his footspeed seems poor. He would likely help the big club's possession game, but he wouldn't make the team any faster. Unless he replaces Alzner. Also, from the clips it looks like he plays RD. I was assuming this whole time that he was LD and could pair with Weber.

It seems to me that Joe Morrow, Davidson, Alzner, Petry and Benn are so much better than Jerabek that there's no way he'll be called up. AFter all, Carr's 15 points in 16 games, can't match up to Nicolas Deslaurier's 5 points in 14 games. Meritocracy reigns supreme in the Habs organization.

I don't know his preferred side but seem to recall him making plays from both sides in clips I saw from the KHL. He may not be blazing fast but he's considered a very mobile defender. Subban doesn't have top end speed but his edge work, leg strength and ability to change speeds and accelerate quickly make him elusive.

Rocket lose to the Manitoba Moose today 5-2. Not a good day for Jerabek (-3) and McNiven (5 goals on 34 shots .853 save %). Rocket now 3rd in North Division with .556 record. The loser point adds about .5 to an average team, so looks like the Rocket are an average team, for now. Give Lefebvre some time and I'm sure he can get that down, aided by his Justice League colleages, Nic Carriere and Donald Dufresne. Wow, what a talented coaching staff. PS. McCarron had two assists. theahl.com/stats/game-summary/1017355

Carr always seemed like a Gallagher type. He had that fast start a couple of call-ups ago, but fizzled and never really seemed to be able to keep up. Given the way the season is going, I'd consider calling him up at some point. If a proper short term sell off occurs, it would make sense to bring him up in a middle six capacity.
We've got the danglers, and Galchenyuk has really improved his passing this year. this last stretch hasn't shown in points because we don't have enough natural finishers.

Bad news: Laval lose 3-2 in OT to Belleville Sens.
Good news: Juulsen played his first game.
Foxhole news: Sly is still the coach.

Peter Holland has been traded to the Hartford Wolfpac (Rangers) for Cracknell. A 32 year old with 2 goals and 1 assist. I have no idea why we are trading a guy with 18 points (8g, 10A) for a guy with 3 points.

I have no idea why we are trading a guy with 18 points (8g, 10A) for a guy with 3 points. Holland was helping the Rocket, especially with so many of their top guys either injured or called up. This may be a minor league deal, but it is a head scratcher for sure. A talented, skating centre with size for a grinder winger. Okay then.

There 2 benefits 1. it gets Montreal out of the second year of Holland's deal. 2. Holland was due to paid the full amount of his deal regardless of whether he played in the AHL or not. This year he gets 300k in the minors.
Still, it's a lot of offense to trade away.

Sly's team is back in familiar territory, with a .500 record. Adjust for the loser points and it's .475 or something like that. They sit in 5th in their division, just out of the playoffs. Can't blame goaltending, since Lindgren's been there most of the year. On defence, of course, Eric Gelinas is a disaster, but then Lefebvre doesn't have to play him. He has lost a lot of his offense, with Carr being called up and Hudon sticking, but he's got a much more experienced team than he's had in the past too. It seems lack of discipline is still a factor as the team takes more penalties than they should. Wonder why that is?

I'll echo what was said in the Wings PGT (iirc). He's in a tough spot. With Hudon, Byron, Gallagher, Shaw, etc. there really isn't a winger that deserves to be sent down. Julien likes 4th liners who play with jam. Carr has a pesty nature, but Deslauriers has size. Carr isn't a center. So he can't take Froese or DLR's spot. Wait till we get Lehkonen back. The winger logjam will only increase.

Looks like Fucale will be back, after getting two straight starts in Brampton. Looks like they were just trying to get him more ice time for a short stint.

Another factor in the Carr debate. He is a guy who I think they would lose for sure on waivers. At least one of the 30 teams (and likely more) could use him.

Very much so. He'd look good in Vancouver, for example. But he can't crack our line-up. Hmmmmmm. I realize we have a lot of decent wingers, but that's the opportunity for a trade. Carr in Edmonton for example? Maybe as part of a Patches, Lindgren, Carr deal for RNH and other(s). It makes so much sense for both teams.

The depleted Rocket lost 2-1 in OT to the Bingo Devils last night. That is only 2 wins in their last 10 games, although a few have gone to OT to give them some other loser points. As it stands now, they are still hanging on barely to the fourth and final playoff spot in their division, mainly due to being in a weak division (familiar story, right?). The concern is they are losing and giving up ground to the teams below them. They have seen a loss in personnel due to call ups and injuries, and trading one of their few scorers like Holland also hurts a bit too.
McCarron should be back soon after getting his ear sliced in a game recently (he required emergency surgery...scary stuff). Scherbak will eventually get healthy and they Habs will have to make a decision on someone like Carr/Froese soon once Drouin is cleared to play. Juulsen is finally playing so their defense is improved, but it would have been boosted even more with the addition of someone like Morrow had he been the one to have been waived.
The team is not scoring much and folks who regularly watch too feel the games are becoming a tad boring as the team tries to defensively hang on and rely on Lindgren, Fucale and McNiven to hold down the fort. A familiar refrain but one I thought would be less of an issue with some of the good free agent adds in the offseason. The problem is that injuries with the Habs have forced some key call ups of the better AHL scorers, and some of the extra early season depth on defense with the Habs did not cascade down to Laval as expected with Streit being cut and Davidson being lost on waivers.
The hope is that when Drouin, Lehkonen, Hemsky and Scherbak are healthy again, the Rocket will end up with a much more potent punch up front. Until then, they will continue to watch every point be a struggle and potentially see themselves outside looking in before too long. Sly is used to that view (zing!!).

The Rocket play the Marlies tonight, and it is on RDS for those so inclined. The main prospects to watch (and there are not a lot these days) are Juulsen, whatever goalie plays, and McCarron if he is back and recovered from his sliced ear injury.
The Marlies lead the division and have won 9 of 10. It may not be a pretty sight tonight.

Good thing the "no excuses" sign is down. Now Sly can slam the annual teddy bear toss for ruining the flow of the game on Friday against the Marlies. (Hey Sly, don't both teams have to deal with the delay? Seems like an even playing field to me.) Those evil teddy bears!! On a related note, the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) had over 18,000 fans in attendance for their annual teddy bear toss on Saturday, December 2nd. The team has been sucking pond water in the standings, but the new Rogers Place was packed to the rafters for a chance to chuck those stuffies onto the ice after the first home goal. Now that is a long delay with oodles of teddy bears, but the fans have an absolute blast. The atmosphere is great. A lot of less fortunate kids benefit from the event as well when they get their teddy bear over the holidays.
