Suzuki with one heckuva game today. 2 goals and 4 assists. Some chatter on hf indicates that Ikonen may have been injured again. Can't find a source though. It would be a shame if true. Hopefully not long term either.

Nick Suzuki and his linemates are ripping it up in Guelph of late, just in time for the fast approaching playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, a bunch of our CHL prospects have clocked their ticket for the post-season. Only two are with teams yet to be confirmed for the show.
In the playoffs as of today:
WHL: Fonstad (Prince Albert), Walford (Victoria) OHL: Suzuki and Hillis (Guelph), McShane (Oshawa) QMJHL: Teasdale (Rouyn-Noranda), Houde (Chicoutimi)
Yet to clinch:
WHL: Brook (Moose Jaw), Tyszka (Seattle)
I expect Moose Jaw should clinch fairly soon and Seattle also has a bit of a buffer on the 8th and final spot in the western conference.

Poehling with two assists yesterday. That is the end of regular season play. The Huskies start their conference playoff drive next weekend as the top ranked team.

I don’t tend to focus on fifth rounder Houde much, but he had a great weekend and is getting hot as the playoffs approach. He had a five point weekend and the game winning shoot out goal over two games. Here are his three points from last night. He is #88 in blue. He has already set career highs for points and assists, and will do so for goals with his next snipe.

With their OT win tonight, the Seattle Thunderbirds booked their spot in the playoffs. Tyszka had an assist, but more importantly, now all seven of our CHL prospects will get to see post-season play. They will have a tough first round matchup though. As the #2 wildcard spot, they will face the top seed in the western conference.

McShane with a nice play to lead the transition and then great eye-hand coordination to bunt in his 32nd of the year.

Primeau with 41 saves tonight. A 2-1 playoff win. It was not expected to be this close. Let’s see how Northeastern does tomorrow night.
Our two other NCAA prospects still in the playoffs both won. Poehling scored in a 5-2 win, so top ranked Huskies are up 1-0 in their best of three conference playoff series. Ditto for Denver, with Stapley back from injury.

Tenacious checking, taking time and space away, turning the puck over and converting it to his 41st goal of the season. 41 goals is pretty decent for an undrafted free agent. Will be interesting to see how he does and if he can translate some offence in Laval next season. A lot of his goals come from hard work and going to the net. Not always pretty, that’s for sure.
He is on the top ranked Huskies team. They have their sights on the Memorial Cup for sure, so he could have a very long season if he plays in May. He did start with Team Canada in the summer at the Junior Showcase, so that is a lot of hockey if he makes the Memorial Cup.
