That is crazy. Second year in a row they are top ranked and don’t get out of the regional.
Sign Poehling and Jimmy Schuldt (UFA LHD). Onwards. Jackson scores goals. He has attended camps before. Why not?

Now that Poehling's season is over, what are the Habs waiting for in signing and sending him to Laval. He could use a little pro experience. God knows that Laval could use an infusion of talent for the improbable playoff push. . . . . . . . . . . . It worked for Brook. Can it work twice?

The “it” factor with Ryan is him playing with his two brothers. He wants to win with them. His team has had two straight performances where they have not even made the Frozen Four. Crazy.
At some point he has to cut the cord. He will be an NHL regular. Not them.

Tyszka with an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Giants. One heckuva series so far. Closer than most predicted. Tyszka and his mates now face elimination though next game up, down 3-2.

So if Ryan Poehling has used up three years of NCAA eligibility, aren't the twins done yet? I agree, though, regardless of how disappointing this is for Poehling and St. Cloud, Bergevin needs to make him feel excited about taking the next step and being a pro.

All three brothers are juniors (one more year of eligibility). Ryan graduated high school early and skipped going for a year in junior hockey to start the same year as the twins.

He supposedly didn't look good in that elimination game, which tells me they rushed him back from his injury because they needed him. I suspect he's not 100% or maybe even 75%. Not that that should prevent a signing, but it's not worth him playing in Laval for 3 meaningless games and possibly aggravating the injury.

Stapley and Denver only NCAA prospect left and playing in the Frozen Four.
McShane, Suzuki, Hillis and Fonstad all booked for round two. The Guelph London series should be a good one.
Seattle lost their series. Should watch for some Tyszka news soon. He had five assists in six playoff games.
Walford and Victoria now up 3-2 in their series with Kamloops. Same with Teasdale and Rouyn Noranda. Both play tomorrow night.

Houde is a bit of a fringe prospect, but he can get some experience joining the team for the rest of the season before he goes back to junior next year.

Not surprised. Last night there was a pic of him just off the ice surface in St. Cloud, in civvies, taking a picture of the arena. It yelled out "I'm taking this photo because it's my last game here'. Expected something like this. Hope he's healthy as he may have rushed back to help out the team.

Do you mind if I put the Habs twitter post in with the Poehling signing thread? His contract appears to be a PTO this year and the ELC officially starts in the Fall. That differs from Poehling's deal.

Teasdale and Rouyn Noranda win big in game six, 8-2. Teasdale with one goal, one assist and the first star. Off to round two they go.

And the final series has been settled for our prospects. Victoria beat Kamloops 4-1 to win their series in six games. They meet Vancouver in round two. Bring on the Ferry Series and the Battle of the Georgia Strait. Walford had an assist in the game.
That means that six of our nine CHL prospects are still playing in round two of the playoffs: Teasdale, Suzuki, Hillis (inj), McShane, Fonstad and Walford.
Most second round series start on Friday. More to come.

Hillis made his return to action last night, finally recovered from his broken collar bone. Apparently, he looked pretty good for a long layoff.
All our six CHL guys left in the playoffs were in action last night.
Winners were Fonstad and Teasdale (both teams are up 1-0).
Losing their first game were Suzuki, Hillis, McShane and Walford.

Our CHL guys have all played two games in their round two series. Here is where folks stand:
Teasdale and Fonstad both up 2-0.
The rest are down 2-0. McShane had the only goal in a 5-1 loss yesterday, and London totally overpowered Guelph 7-0 to take a big 2-0 lead in that series. Fonstad was held scoreless but his team came back from a 2-0 third period deficit to win 3-2 (the game was on Sportsnet, as is game three tomorrow night). Vancouver heavily outshot and outplayed Victoria, but the Royals stood behind amazing goaltending to take the game to OT, finally losing 2-1 to get down 2-0 in their series.
Finally, one has to wonder if Montreal will even sign Tyszka now that his season has been over for a while. Normally you would see some signs that they get CHL guys whose seasons have finished off to Laval on an ATO. Nothing but crickets with Tyszka. Given our lack of LHD depth amongst prospects, I am a bit surprised by this. We also have lots of extra contract spots open as we are nowhere near our 50 maximum right now. Anyway, they have until June 1st to offer him an ELC or he could go back into the draft.

Guelph up against the wall after another lopsided game tonight, this one 7-4 for London. Suzuki with a goal and assist. The Knights are up 3-0 and Suzuki’s junior season and career are on the line on Wednesday. Of course, he could always join Laval for their last weekend too.

Romanov and CSKA win the decisive game 7 to move on to the Gagarin Cup finals against DD and Emelin. Romanov returned from injury part way through this series, and was dressed as the seventh D, but did not play. Nice to see the coach have confidence in having him dress as the 7th D over others, but I guess he was truly held in reserve for injury to one of his teammates.

Three CHL guys in action last night. Teasdale with two assists in a lopsided 8-0 win, as Rouyn Noranda take a commanding 3-0 series lead. Fonstad was held scoreless, as were his whole PA team as Saskatoon scraped out a 1-0 win at home to close the gap in the series to 2-1 in favour of top ranked PA. I watched the game and Fonstad had some chances, but the Blades' goalie had a heckuva game. Walford had two assists, but his Royals still fell 5-4 in OT to Vancouver, who now hold a 3-0 series lead. His junior career could be one game away from ending.
Suzuki and Guelph are up against it tonight as London holds a commanding 3-0 series lead, and have dominated all three games. Fonstad and PA are right back at it tonight against Saskatoon.

Just a reminder that we do have one prospect still playing in the Frozen Four. Stapley is a centre with Denver and they are on TSN2 tomorrow night (Thursday, April 11) at 8:30 ET in the second semi final. If they win, they will play in the national championship game on Saturday at 8:00 pm ET, also being broadcast on TSN2.

A couple of finals so far tonight, and both good news for our lads.
Teasdale had the hat trick, one assist and the first star in a 6-2 Rouyn win. Pull out the brooms, they sweep their way to round three (just like my Oil Kings did last night in the Dub).
McShane had a goal in a big Oshawa 7-3 win over Niagara. All tied up at two games apiece.
NCAA semi on right now on TSN2 with Stapley and Denver down 3-1 after forty.
Walford up later trying to avoid da sweep. Oh oh, Vancouver up 3-0 after one.
