Poulin. Not a ton of talent, but a hard worker.

If we want to gamble, our two seconds could get us a decent guy late first now. Hmmmm.

Poulin. Not a ton of talent, but a hard worker. Like his dad. Size of his thighs is ridiculous. Listed at 212lbs.

Yeah, not sure what Pittsburgh is thinking. I guess if you say, at #21 the objective is just to get a kid who is likely to play in the NHL, then Poulin makes sense. But if you want to aim for a top six forward then I do not quite understand the logic.

Should I be disappointed that we didn’t get Cam York? It’s not like we don’t have some interesting D prospects but you can never have enough depth on the blue line and York seems to have all the tools,
But he seemed to slip further than I thought he would and the Habs looked happy after York was taken.
If Caufield is the guy they have conviction on then that’s good for me, The size thing doesn’t bother me if the dude can score. Johnny Gaudreau is pretty small as well and he can light up the arena.
Seems like a possible steal at #15?

Seems like a possible steal at #15? I think Debrincat is the real comparison. Same height. Alex scored more than 40 goals this season. Some reading around indicates he might be an even better scorer at the pro level. If that's the case, look out.

Is Poulin the first guy drafted from the Q or the OHL?

I like Bjornfot, but thought he was a second. I was hoping around 46 lol.

Is Poulin the first guy drafted from the Q or the OHL? Harley OHL. Next year the OHL will smoke the USNDP.

Thanks. Wish that 46 was low 30's. We could do something a little more interesting.

Wow, Lavoie will be the third guy from the Q. I had seen some folks on HF predicting this against all odds.

We must be going LHD with one of our seconds if this keeps up. No real picks outside of the third tier yet though.

It will depend on who Timmins is targeting tomorrow. If he sees a big time talent that Montreal believes in he could move up into the 32-36 range by dealing both second rounders.
But at the rate things are going, he may just like the kids in the middle of the round and figure that two cracks beats one.

I'm looking at the board, and I gotta say the Pens pick sticks out as a stinker to me. That group is old. They need to inject young skill going forward.

Lavoie or Kaliev? Both with intensity issues.

Foote? Wow, he had dropped on most lists. Another scorer with question marks.

Those two seconds are decent asset value this draft. There are lots of guys I like between now and 46, and that is without unexpected picks. And there will be some tomorrow morning.

Foote rated 37 on the NHL combined list. www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectbrowse.htmThere's gonna be some 'first round guys' potentially around come the second that we might only have to give up one of our seconds (with a third) to get if a specific target is there.

I wish tv hosts would look to see who Dubas might be talking to on the phone (it's likely someone in the room...)rather than just talking on...

Poulin is certainly going to play in the league. He won't be a bust. But his ceiling is not particularly high. Though in fairness, maybe Rutherford feels like the Penguins cannot afford to swing and miss considering they have very few guys in their system who will ever play in the NHL.
