The NHL is so crappy at these things. Guys spend time thanking everyone and their dog before a selection. Check out the NBA. The Commush ( whonisnt booed) comes out and says “ the Toledo Mud Hens select....,” and it’s done. Five seconds max. Then a few minutes later another pick and so on. There’s time for commentators to interview, time to dissect the pick and then onto the next. Weirdly, I watched a bit of that last night. Brutal suits, but it moved fast!

Bergevin cannot even talk to Paul Theofanous and/or Pat Brisson until Sunday so it is at least a couple of days too soon to be talking about taking on a bad contract.
Frankly, there is not much runway from that right now, one season maximum. Many of the really bad contracts out there require a really unambitious club to waste their cap space for multiple years.

Exactly. If the cut out the long walk to the stage and all the bla bla with 20 guys there it would go so much faster. 1 represent from a team with Jersey and commish calls out the pick. Done.

Well I liked him better than Cozens but this is still bitbof a surprise. Great stuff! This may start throwing every list out of whack.

Berg not expecting to move ahead in the draft, and seems to think it's unlikely he'll be able to pull off an Armia/Mason type deal, though discussions have been ongoing. The uncertainty around the cap isn't helping. Uncertainty around the CAP? $1mM maybe? How much of an obstacle can that be? Not to mention they can be over till the season starts anyway. Maybe a team gives up a pick to free 1M with the lower cap, but not with the higher cap. After all, how much cap room did Winnipeg free from the Mason deal ?

Well I liked him better than Cozens but this is still bitbof a surprise. Great stuff! This may start throwing every list out of whack. Unfortunately it is just shuffling the top 12...so far! I like Dach. I had him in a bunch with Zegras and Turcotte and Byram. I had Cozens lower.

It should be Byram now. For me it should have been Byram at #3, but Chicago went with need.

Byram is a great D. He was amazing in the second half, and a stud in the playoffs.
He was NOT dropping past four for me.

Seider. Huge RHD. I figured he might go before us, but not this high. Wowza.
Played against men all year. DEL and Worlds. Big and mobile. Bonus for being a RHD for many teams.
