There was no question who was the better team, but there is also no question who fought harder.
Jesus Price...was a blessing tonight. Possibly the best game in a long time. Rebound control was fantastic.
Suzuki...he's already a veteran playing all minutes.
Tatar...brought his lunch pail.
Kk...pretty good.
Drouin...what will ignite him?
Domi...he's trying but he's not what we had last year.
The team played hard and wanted it more then the pens. Of course some didn't bring their best game but overall, there is not much to complain about.

Forgot about the game lol.
Looks like Price stole this one (which he'll have to if they have any sort of chance).
How much ice time did the kids get? They likely don't win this series, so I'm hoping they got to see a lot of action.

I actually feel bad for Jonathan Drouin ... he knows he's under the media/fan microscope, and he'd have been a hero had he buried that penalty shot ... Sydney Crosby gets away with quite a bit ... ditto Shea Weber ... Weber with 31:35 TOI, Nick Suzuki with 23:10 TOI ... one stat that jumped out at me was Artturi Lehkonen with 20:18 TOI ... they needed Carey Price big-time in the 1st pd, and he was steady for the rest of the game ... the Penguins had their moments, but I thought the Habs overall compete-level was there tonight ... what a change from the Toronto game ...
Cheers.

Some players struggled:Byron, Domi, Wiese (get Poehling in there), Weal, and Armia was so so. But Drouin should be ashamed. Never engaged except to take dumb penalties, and he plays with our best offensive centre in Suze who was spectacular in all aspects tonight. Then Drouin's big moment comes with a penalty shot which is his forte given it's no contact and you don't have to hustle or get engaged, and he muffs BIG TIME. That was his moment, and nada.
But watching Suze and KK was amazing as they held their own against Pens stars. It was also good to see the boys being quite physical, really liked the way they protected Carey, Shea showing leadership, Sid and Malkin were getting it constantly.
Will we win the series? Not likely. Do I want to win? Not really. We're not winning the Cup and i'd rather get Lafreniere or 9th overall. But to see the experience our youngins are getting is wonderful. Gotta get Poehling in there. Wiese will be with the team for another week or two. Peohling hopefully will be with us for a decade and he would benefit from the experience. Of course CJ, being who he is, will not change the line-up after a win.

Habs have a fast exciting team. I usually don't get hyped, but watching last night was pretty cool.

Both penalty shots must have been ugly ... I haven't seen a highlight pack that showed either

Hab fans after Petry scored... After the first 10 minutes or so I thought it was a pretty evenly played game. And further proof that Gainey wasn't completely wrong when he talked about Playoff University. How can you not watch Nick Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi last night and not think this play in is going to help them immeasurably, no matter what the ultimate outcome of the series will be? Suzuki in particular, went toe-to-toe with Evgeni Malkin and more than held his own. Seeing him out there killing that 5 on 3 AND playing in the dying minutes of the third period was exactly what we've been clamoring for all these years. Now granted Julien didn't have much choice, given the lack of options he has down the middle at the moment - he has to play a kid - but still. Suzuki not only survived the first test, he thrived. Playing these games for that reason alone makes it all worth it. I've said it many times, but Phil Danault is terribly underrated by many Hab fans. I think he's slightly below Ryan O'Reilly in terms of game impact, and only slightly. Calling him "a good third liner" is to really underrate him, if you ask me. He didn't even have that great a game last night, and he still kept Crosby largely in check. I don't think we're going to win this series, but if we do it will be because of guys like Suzuki and Kotkaniemi, and that in itself will be a good thing.

Watching the replay on SN East and during the 2nd period they showed the inside of the arena and on one of the screens they showed the Roadrunner holding the cup... never in my life would I have thought that would be shown in an arena in Toronto

They likely don't win this series, so I'm hoping they got to see a lot of action. I didn't see all of it, so I missed most of Price's great saves. I did see the Pens hit a few posts and then miss some really clear chances (can't recall the Pen, but wide open at a bad angle to Price's left with Price looking right early in the first and he missed the net. Then there was Crosby missing a lot of open net when he shot low into Price. Yep we won, but could very easily have lost several times. As an aside, if I'm playing the Habs in OT, I'm putting a shadow on Petry. How many Ot goals is that now this year? 4? 5?

'Playoff experience' is useful, no doubt, but this year at what cost? Many Cup winners win after losing not just once, but many seasons (Islanders - Oilers - Caps - Blues -I could go on and on). Just how much playoff experience losing do you need? And I can always point to various players (Claude Lemeiux, St. Patrick) as not needing any playoff experience at all to succeed. I just think you've got it or you don't. Jonathan Drouin had 23 games of playoff experience and it showed last night (cough). Some players don't let the moment get to them and raise their game (PK - and he's another who needed no playoff experience to do well) while others fight it all the way. I'd much rather have that 12.5% chance at Lafreniere and a sure 9th overall pick for a team that will gain plenty of playoff experience in a couple of years, than one that misfires along but with a few extra games of 'playoff experience'.

Don’t sleep on the experience Suzuki earned last year in the OHL playoffs and memorial cup, he was an MVP and carried his team on his back, I am sure those reps and that experience came in handy yesterday and it’s a good argument for not moving your kids up until they’ve truly dominated the lower leagues. Whether it’s the CHL, Worl Juinors, or AHL.

Suzuki played 23 minutes, 6 minutes on the PK including the crucial kill 5 on 3 and scored a wicked goal.
He played against either Malkin or Crosby all game and didn't look out of place. Kid is special.
