Cheers.

I'd certainly rather play Philly than Caps, Bruins, or TB. While Philly is a solid all around team they don't have the superstars of the other 3 teams. So I'll take my chances with our somewhat all around team against another. It's the superstars and their PP that always hurt us as we are unable to counter.
Hopefully Carey can school the other #31 who worships Carey!

If Hedman and Stamkos are indeed out, even if only for a couple of games, then I would have preferred them. Even if they weren't, I still might have preferred them.
Philly is a good team. They just took out Boston, Washington, and Tampa, all in a row. They're big, fast, and tough. Their problem, as it always has been, was goaltending. Carter Hart seems to have solved that problem. They're lacking an elite defenseman, which may be their one remaining weakness, but even at that they're not exactly hurting.
This is going to be a tough one. Way tougher than Pittsburgh, I think.

Well done, Dis. I love those o-pee-chee team cards.
BC, I agree with the points you make. Philadelphia could really wear down Weber, Petry and Chiarot as the minutes pile up.

I hope we do win this series otherwise defeating the Pigeons was an excercise in foot shooting.

This should be a tough series. They're a very well coached team, and actually have credible NHL goaltending for the first time in ages (feel like their need in net has rivaled our need at center over the decades). We likely won't see the questionable intensity, defense or goaltending that the Pens offered up. The hope is that their young netminder struggles under the pressure of a first playoff appearance and facing his idol between the pipes at the other end of the rink. Maybe Carey can pitch a shutout early and get in the kid's head.

Habs struggle against big teams Flyers are big all around especially on the wing ... this is again on Carey how well the D can hold up and they need all lines to chip in ... let’s hope their G can’t match Carey ...get by Philly Habs might just be able to make that miracle run.

Well done, Dis. I love those o-pee-chee team cards. Thanks, folatre ... I've been using the same site for a few years now and linking to the older sets is no problem ... however, they're using a different format that magnifies the card (like eBay images) and that prevents me from linking directly to the image ... I'll be contributing to the site once I organize my material ... there's about 8-9 years worth of Habs postcards I'll be uploading to the site ... all that said, thanks for the feedback and I'm really glad you enjoy them ... keep well, now ... Cheers.

Tale of the Tape
Nov 7th, 2019 - Philly 3 Montreal 2 OTL (Hart vs Price)
Nov 30th, 2019 - Philly 4 Montreal 3 OTL (Elliot vs Kinkaid)
Jan 16th, 2020 - Montreal 4 Philly 1 (Price vs Lyon)
So our players, outscored their players 9-6 in the regular season.
In the 3 game round robin, the Flyers leading scorer was Scott Laughton. The Flyers only deadline pick up was Nate Thompson

I think a key factor in this series will be faceoffs. We did really well against the Pens and it allowed us to control the play more than we normally do. They'll have to try and match the Flyers centremen who are very good in the face off circle. Giroux and Couturier are around 60% and the other centres are above 50%

The Flyers are a bad match up for Montreal (in ways that Pittsburgh wasn't), for all the reasons BC and others have mentioned.
The key is probably Carter Hart. I don't think we are capable of outplaying the Flyers, but if Price outplays Hart by a wide enough margin we have a chance. If it's close to even I think this could be a short series.

We going to be in for quite a battle. Way Flyers handled Tampa Saturday night. They manhandled all three of the top seeds in the round robin. They were on a big roll before the break. This is likely the team on the strongest run right now and they also did not get goals from a number of their top guys in the round robin or from their PP, so they can get better too. Vigneault and his two experienced assistants are pushing a lot of the right buttons for this talented and deep team right now. We are really in tough.

None of the teams in the round robin played with any urgency or fear … they knew they could not be eliminated, and they didn't even know if they played good (or bad) who they would end up facing. I don't put much stock in the round robin games.

And just to pour some cold water on the Flyers hype, this is a franchise that had missed the playoffs in four of the last seven years going into this one. In mid February, before going on that impressive 9 game win streak, they were a middle of the pack team in the east (tied for 4th in the Metro). I'm not yet convinced that they're in the same class as Tampa, Washington or Boston.

Hopefully Carey can school the other #31 who worships Carey! Honestly, the way the Habs played against Pittsburgh, I really thought they had a good chance against Washington, déjà vu notwithstanding ... with Carey Price playing the way he is, it might've been interesting to see if he'd pulled off another Halakian run ... I remember that run not only for what Jaroslav Halák did, but the Habs, for the most part, were literally playing every second day, even between series ... they may have gotten a practice in before the conference final, but they kind of schedule kept them in game shape ... anyway, they've got their work cut out for them against the Flyers ... my hat goes off to Philly for picking up where they left off prior to the pandemic ... like, they haven't missed a beat ... and my hat also goes off to the NHL for getting the tournament off the ground ... they missed the boat on the draft (IMO), and they're facing the heat for that now, but I'm impressed with the whole bubble concept ... the players are tested (daily?) and they seem to be respecting their bubbles ... you probably already know this, but the Habs used to sequester their teams during the playoffs ... they'd stick the team in a hotel, and isolate them from friends, family, night-life ... if I find a link I'll post it, but sequestering teams has its merits ... hopefully it helps our club ... Cheers.
