Muller better rely on Ducharme and Richardson

Hopefully he will be fine. Going forward one hopes that Coach Julien listens to his doctors even it means staying away from the grind of coaching in the NHL.

Get well Julien.
Bergevin. We need a French coach . Remember the last anglophone?? He got booed out of town. If it wasn’t for COVID and no fans and barely no media, you’d put Ducharme in ... do it now toooooo

I don't want to speculate beyond what we know, but the fact that they're already saying he won't be back before the end of this series kind of seems bad. We're not talking about accidentally getting the extra spicy wings when you ordered the super-mild here. This is something that they are concerned could be exacerbated were he to get behind the bench again. That doesn't seem good.
I wonder how much control Muller will have? I get that he'll have to manage the bench, but is he making lineup decisions now? Or is that still going to be Julien? I would imagine it will be hard to keep Julien away, even if it is only by phone or text, but what are the doctor's orders?

He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the team. Even by phone. He's not at a great age, the stress of coaching this team is enormous. Everything points to a heart issue, and that is not something that clears up in a week.

If they took him to the hospital, he wouldn’t be allowed back into the bubble for 10-14 days

Yeah, that should be the case. However, my understanding was that after Muzzin was taken to a local hospital he returned to the hotel less than 24 hours later. I guess there is some nominal chief medical officer for the bubble who rules on it.
I know Julien is the type of guy who would be loathe to abandon the ship, but his wife, children, and grandchildren are probably pretty shaken up by this and no doubt wish he would return home as soon as the doctors clear him to travel.

In the end, this is about Claude the man and his family. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.
We will see what Muller can do, but you can see the influence of both Ducharme (in game adjustments, more aggressive taking time and space away) and Richardson (activate defence into transition) in how the team plays compared to before they were brought on.
Get well Claude.

From what I understand, the NHL has a dedicated MRI and technician at one of the hospitals. I doubt they’d have thought of possible heart issues. If that is the case

This isn't about hockey, this is about Claude Julien ... he's been through a lot in Montreal, and sometimes it just doesn't let up ... we don't know the extent of thing just yet, but the body can only take so much ... Ideally I'd like to see him back but at his age retirement should be an option, too ... all the best, Claude ...
Cheers.

I'm listening to some Greek rembetika (blues)....and thinking about Julien. Nothing, absolutely nothing is more important then his health.
If yesterday was the last game he will ever coach, so be it. There many things that are important in a mans life, coaching is not one of them. Nor money. Nor fame. Nor glory.
Perhaps this is nothing, perhaps this is the start of his new life.

The racism in the FRENCH PRESS is disgusting. To be clear, that's not what I meant. While I was trying to be funny, my underlying message is we have a coach that I believe to be way better than what Muller has shown. And if I'm being serious, this is precisely why we hired Ducharme. As everyone has said, Julien's health is priority #1. This could serve as a rallying cry to the troops ...

There goes what slim chance we had of beating the Philly I'm not sure, it depends on how the players respond. We have no idea what input Dom and Luke had on CJ. where they involved in moving Dano to the third line in the Pens series? I don't know. All I can hope for is a speedy recovery for CJ and for Kirk to listen to his assistants input. Maybe they can get the PP to start to click

Thoughts and prayers for CJ, most importantly. I hope to see him behind the bench again someday because I think he has shown to be a great captain of the ship. What happens if the Habs win the cup? Do they still fire muller because he’s English? The racism in the FRENCH PRESS is disgusting. To be clear, that's not what I meant. While I was trying to be funny, my underlying message is we have a coach that I believe to be way better than what Muller has shown. And if I'm being serious, this is precisely why we hired Ducharme. As everyone has said, Julien's health is priority #1. This could serve as a rallying cry to the troops ... As for Muller stepping up to replace him behind the bench, I think it's the right move. I feel like there is an assumption among the fanbase that the head coach makes all the decisions, but that's not necessarily the case. I'm sure that a huge chunk of the head coach's responsibility is to assign roles, keep the squad engaged, and hold people accountable. And at that, I think CJ is quite good. Despite the flaws in our team's makeup, commitment and team unity/effort are definite strong points. Like CJ, I think Muller's strengths (ie, leadership and people management) are better suited for the head coaching position. I'm 100% ok with getting him away from the X's and O's because you're right - Ducharme outclasses Muller as an assistant imo. Let Ducharme do what he does well imo.

Speed recovery to Julien. Glad they caught it.
=================
I think Ducharme should've been named interim head coach.
If Julien returns next season.....back to Asst. he goes.
If Julien decides to retire, Ducharme's the heir apparent, no?
He's 47....give him the reins.

I would rather Ducharme but it makes sense to have Muller as interim as he has seniority and has been a NHL head coach before. Once the season is over, if Cj is unable to return then it would be a good time to move Muller out. What I do like about Muller is he's a positive motivator which will be good for the kids and is something CJ does not excel at.
My bigger concern is whoever is interim is far less likely to think outside the box (Poehlng, Fleury, Juulsen) unless we go 3-0 and by then it will be too late to get the kids some decent experience.
