Poor Buffalo is riding an eleven game winless streak (0-9-2) into New Jersey tonight. A couple of years ago I remember some dude's call to a local Buffalo radio station went viral because the poor guy was screaming and borderline crying. I wonder what those fans are thinking right now.

Where would the Oilers (7-0-0) and the Canucks (5-0-0) be without the generous Ottawa Senators?

Quite a night in New York. The Rangers score 7 in the 2nd period & beat the Flyers 9-0.
Zibanejad with 6 points. A nightmare game for Sanheim & Myers, each guy was -6.

According to a Leafs' board....Galchenyuk's starting with a Top 6 slot tonight vs. the Flames. Playing with Tavares and Nylander.
Also, Simmonds is back.
Toronto's too good to be playing as they have of late.
Pretty much Chucky's last chance to show what he's got. Didn't work in Pittsburgh with all that talent.
History says don't bet on it...but he just turned 27. Still in the prime window.

You mean Jared McCann and Sam Lafferty ? .... his linemates I always laugh when I hear people talk of Galchenyuk as a bust ... 255 points in 418 games, 108 goals ... mostly from the third line ...

For whatever reason(s), Skilly, he's been moved around a lot. He has, for now, quality linemates in Toronto tonight. That's what I mean by his last chance...i.e. after a few fails, the time to hit is now with this chance at this stage of his career. I know it's the Leafs...but I wish him well.

I know you are referring to his time in Montreal but overall hockeydb has him at 321 points. The only one from the 2012 draft with more points is Filip Forsberg at 380. In fact I think they are the only 2 players over 300 points. Hardly a bust but the constant movement is puzzling.

I watched a couple of his games with the Marlies vs the Rocket just prior to his call up. He can still play and his lethal shot from the right face off circle still is top notch. Add me to the collective that just does not fully understand why he has moved so much. It seems to me, that for a million bucks, a team can do way worse. Is his Dad listening?

Props to the Sens and whoever that goalie is. They did the Habs a serious solid tonight.
Those four games Montreal has coming up consecutively against Ottawa will be huge. I would not feel good about things going forward unless the Habs take at least six of eight points.

Sooooooo, Tim Peel confirms what we’ve know for many years. Refs are biased and call the game based on vendetta’s and personal gripes. Reffing is all about how a ref wants to manage a game and not calling infractions based on the rule book.
The Preds-Red Wings game Peel is caught on mic saying to his refereeing partner, after making a penalty call against the Preds in the second period ... “it wasn’t much, but I wanted to call a f**king penalty against Nashville earlier in the game”
And the NHL is investigating, but I have no doubt this was league directed. If I’m not mistaken, a few years ago, a ref let it slip that the NHL Head Office directed them to ref to keep games close.

Dustin Tokarski, remember him? He's starting tonight for Buffalo & has not been in the league since 2016-17.

Brady Tkachuk being the A-hole in the case of the puck in Primeau's first win and then ironically enough he is the guy going nuts about Andersson stealing the puck the other night.
Speaking of Ottawa, the Senators worked their magic again tonight against the Flames. This is huge for Montreal. The morale of the story seems to be if you cannot somehow manage to score against Ottawa they have a chance to dig in and make life miserable for opponents.

Sabes shutout by the Pens for their 16th loss in a row.
The last time Phily played NY, the Rangers won 9-0 & Zibinajad had 6 points. Well, last night the Rangers beat the Flyers 8-3 and Zibinajad had another 6 point game.

I would have thought that the Oilers with some time off this week & smarting from the humiliation that the Leafs handed them last month in Edmonton would come through last night. Instead, they blow a 2 goal 3rd period lead & lose in OT.
Does this team ever rise to get occasion? Ever?

At least the teams chasing the Habs have been losing in regulation every night, if only the teams above can stop with these three point head to head matchups. The reality is that big movement in the Canadian division might be hard given how each team has to play its direct competition so often. The odds favour points getting sprinkled around, unless you are the Oilers and keep handing the Leafs gimme points every matchup. Painful.

The 1st was a great back pass to Tavares in the slot. The 2nd was a pass from behind/beside the net out front. It hit someone and went to Nylander. Speaking of bounces... Matthews hit two pinball bumpers on his OT winner.
