Who is Montreal's goalie scout? They've been doing a hell of a job. Edit: Had to look it up. Vincent Riendeau. Yeah. Not sure what thread I posted it in after Hughes was hired, but he is one scout they should not touch!

He was brought in after Waite was fired as director of goaltending I believe. Is he still on the payroll? Haven't heard anything about his role with the team or what it entails. There was a recent comment from Waite about how Primeau hasn't seen any improvements in his game in 2 years which is concerning. I'd imagine that Burke would have responsibility in overseeing his development.

Before they replaced Waite with Eric Raymond, he was pretty actively involved on the ice at Habs practice. He has also been busy with his outside activities. He was one of the five finalists for the Vancouver GM job and has been involved with Hockey Canada not that long ago. Not sure if he still has an ongoing role with them, but he did mention at one point that he appreciated the Habs support in being able to support both organizations.

A couple of guys busy over in Europe today. Kostenko had two assists in a 3-1 Khimik win. Just my luck, I decided to watch some USHL game on demand this morning instead of watching Kostenko’s game live. I might go back and watch it to see how he looked.
Across the border in Finland, Kapanen played for KalPa’s junior team today as the 1C. He had two goals and an assist in a big 8-3 win.
Edit: Olofsson also found the back of the net today with a goal in his Allsvenskan team win. 4 points in 7 games with his new team, although three came in one game. He just has not been able to find that offensive consistency. I expect that costs him and ELC this summer (meaning I don’t expect the Habs will offer him one as of now).
Guhle plays later today. I am debating about venturing out in the chill to go see the game. There are a few Oil Kings doozies coming up in the next few weeks that I will not miss if at all possible: against Regina (Bedard) and Winnipeg (Savoie, Geekie and the top ranked CHL team). I believe TSN will stream both those games on its app. Way more fun seeing those stud players live though!

Can you do a full scouting report? I wish I was out there because Guhle would be worth going to games. Last time I did that was for Komi'waste and unfortunately, he never got better then his AHL debut. On the other hand, I have huge hopes for Guhle!

Only one goal after 20 minutes in Edmonton. Guhle on the PP though!
Edit: Nice game by the big guy. 1 goal and 2 assists and third star.

A few lads in action tonight. Gordin had the GWG for Kapitan in the MHL.
Vrbetic was in net for a 26 save win 5-2 over the Soo tonight. I recorded the game, so will finally get to see him play a full game and also see a few draft prospects from each team including Ty Nelson. This 2022 draft has some really fun offensively minded defenders scattered all over the first two rounds. Pretty decent crop.
Sobolev had an assist in a 5-2 Windsor win over Guelph.

It really adds a nice dimension to his game. Playing with guys like Guenther, Neighbours, and Sourdif does not hurt one bit. I don’t see a big offensive guy at the pro level, but he is more than just a big stay at home guy.

We need an offensive guy in there. Both Guhle and Romanov are stronger on the defensive side and while they're not David Savards offensively, they are not Cale Makars or Quinn Hughes either. If Norlinder would work out that would be very convenient.

Dobeš with a 43 save effort in a 4-3 OT win.
Pitlick with a 1+1 game in a 4-2 Minnesota win.
Vrbetic and North Bay beat high flying SSM two nights in a row.
Tuch with the primary assist on the GWG in a 4-0 BU shutout.
London played but Mailloux was a late scratch. Undisclosed injury per local media.
Roy and Sherbrooke were the first of the Habs prospect teams to play in the QMJHL restart. Roy had a goal and an assist in a big 7-3 win.
London (without Mailloux) beat Windsor 5-1 and Sobolev had no points, but was even on his +/-.

Stapley with 2 goals and an assist in a wild 8-5 #3 Denver win over #5 St Cloud State.
His 33 points so far this season are a new career high and he set a new career high for goals a long time ago this season. He has 12 goals this year and had a total of 14 over the three previous NCAA seasons combined. Another seventh rounder going to squeeze an ELC out of the Habs? I would expect so based on his performance and how highly Ramage seems to always talk about him in interviews about the prospects.

It has definitely been a bounce around season for young Finnish forward Oliver Kapanen. He has played with four club teams in three leagues (Liiga, Mestis-2nd league, Junior league) as well as stints with the national U20 team at tournaments and the short WJC. Oh, and he missed time this fall with injury. Not an ideal development year as it is hard to build consistency being with so many teams and different players, systems and ice time usage.
He just played two back to back games on loan with Liiga (top league) team Kärpät. He almost doubled his usual Liiga ice time with his contracted Liiga club team (KalPa) and was used as the 1C, which was a bit of a pleasant surprise to me. He was held without a point yesterday in a 5-2 loss but had two assists today in a 5-0 Kärpät win. Pretty good showing for his two game loan. Let’s see what happens with him as the rest of the season unfolds.
Like a lot of young prospects, he does need to mature a bit physically and gain strength. With the added leg strength down the road he should have a more dynamic skating pace. His mechanics look decent enough to me (unlike a few other prospects these days and over the years), but he lacks the requisite added strength that should come with time and off ice training. With a late July birthday he is actually the team’s second youngest prospect (Joshua Roy is a week younger).

Do as i did in Hamilton. Concentrate on him and his every move. Change positions to view him. One period center, one period behind his zone and one near the bench. Remember Mr Scout, this is not about the game, it's about the player and details down to skate lacing....lol Concentrate on his flaws and his decision failures. One that i detected all too often was pulling himself out of position to make a hit. The other was too slow thinking to distribute the puck in tbe offensive zone.

Did not know that Pitlick broke a bone recently. That explains the time he missed. He did score earlier against the USA NTDP U18 team, but that was an exhibition game. Glad to see him pot one last night.

All four of the Q prospects in action this afternoon.
Simoneau scored a goal and Trudeau assisted on said goal in a 4-1 Charlottetown win.
Kidney had two assists in Acadie-Bathurst’s win.
Roy’s game is later tonight. Myšák and Xhekaj are underway right now.
Mailloux missed today’s game for the second night in a row. Hopefully he is back by next Friday as they are on TSN that night.

Getting caught up with a few other matches from last night and this morning.
Dobeš continued his impressive freshman season with a 26 save effort in a 6-2 win over Wisconsin. That was his 20th win of the season and his record is now 20-6-2.
Pitlick had another assist last night.
This morning (late in the day in Sweden), Olofsson seems to be taking advantage of his increased usage with Björklöven (he lined up at 2C again today) as he scored a goal in a 5-4 OT loss.

More stuff happens on Sunday funday.
Myšák with a three point game. Two goals and a helper. Xhekaj with a shortie too.
Simoneau with a three pointer today, chasing Q leading scorer Joshua Roy! One goal and two apples in a 8-1 blowout.
Vrbetic gave up two goals but won big against Shane Wright (he scored one late) today.
London played three in three. Mailloux still out. No word on severity of injury.
Sobolev and Windsor underway.
