Some non-roster news: Weber is hanging around the team in YVR. Some lineup news below. I'm not sure if that helps or hurts. To me, at this point, he's not going to lace them up so it's more of a "meet the buddies" then any motivator.

Maybe I am missing something, but why is there any great pressure to trade Weber to Arizona? During the summer clubs can be 10 percent over the cap ceiling, so that means Montreal can carry a shade over $90 million in the offseason and toss him back on LTIR when the season starts.
Sure, I get it if Arizona actually wants to give the Habs a little something in order to help them get to the cap floor. But I do not see the need to give anyone anything to take Weber.
It should be interesting tonight. Two teams playing good, enthusiastic hockey lately.

5 in 5 games for Lehky and an assist over that stretch. Nice to see. Oh, and I fully expect that Hughes’ phone is getting busy on a player that Kent says he does not want to trade, unless…
11 more days of not knowing who is going to be left is very intriguing for sure. At least they are a watchable product again!

He will always be a great 3rd liner and PKer. And may become more. He's only 26 and going into his prime - shows up every game and is rarely injured. The return better be very good. Who I would love to unload are Hoffman and Drouin - both are overpaid and can not be relied on when the going gets tough.

Boys must have had quite a fun time in Vancouver with the rookie party and all as they were very sloppy. Worst game in last 9. Petry in early season form. Gally continues to be ineffective. Cole fumbling the puck again.
Perhaps we will get 1st overall after all - particularly if we can unload Chariot and Petry. Wideman and Clague would be our 2nd pairing - would be unwatchable.

I just wonder how much they can pay a guy like him with other bottom six guys sucking money and term and doing way less. Those other guys you mention would be gone if the right deal came along, but no sense dumping Drouin until he can come back and shine under MSL for a while and raise his value. He would get nothing much right now. Don’t sell that low.

The Western Canadian road trip has often been a tough one on much better versions of the Habs than this one. Going .500 was respectful and gave signs of life without totally messing with the chances to still get a good draft position at the end.
The Suzuki trio with Caufield and Anderson has been very good of late. It was asleep more than usual last night, but then another line that has been playing well was the best in Vancouver: the Lehky-Pitlick duo seem to really be gelling right now. Lehky on a five game scoring streak (6 goals and 8 points). For a guy forever cursed to miss far more scoring chances than he converts, this Lehky 2.0 is a very complete player that all teams (including the Habs going forward) would like to have. The defense has been improved, although this bunch will never be world beaters. And other than in the Peg, Monty has been more full than not. He may be an option as a backup going forward if and when this team’s confusing goaltending situation and dilemma gets sorted out in the future. Yes, Carey, I am talking about you.
The players are giving Horton (seventeen prefers HuGo) and Marty lots to work with in terms of assessing what they bring and how that might fit into the team philosophy and architecture going forward. That information is gold for a new GM who seems to have a real plan and some patience in which to execute it. Not sure we as fans have been able to say that for a while.
Thanks for visiting us out West, Habbies! Come again.

And a little shout out to an opposing player last night who is very 🔥 right now. I am sure trade speculation on his fate is alive and well in Canuck Nation. I have never really given Miller enough credit for some reason.

He can be a Jekyll and Hyde. I've seen him have some horrendous turnovers, but then he makes a great play. Overall, a very good year from him and one wonders where the Canucks would be if he wasn't having this kind of year. It isn't even a contract year. There's luck too. He made an everyday pass to Pettersson, who makes a great play and Miller gets an assist. In an earlier game, though, Miller picked up the puck behind his net from Hughes, went through the whole team and scored a spectacular goal. All his, and Hughes gets a primary assist.
Lately, Pettersson has really picked his game up. He is so shifty.
It's unfortunate the team just didn't click with Travis Green. He's a decent coach, but it sure seems that today's players prefer someone less rigid. Boudreau is similar to Marty in that he's willing to give players more freedom to do what they do best. If their play results in 3 goals for, but causes 2 against, he doesn't sweat the 2 against. Other teams focus on eliminating the 2 against and all they do is affect the 3 goals for.
Demko didn't shine in last night's game, but he has been spectacular otherwise. Some of his games have been like Price's back in 2014, intimidating shooters so they try to be too fine.
It's been fun watching Vancouver try to get into the playoffs. They are 3 points out but Nashville and Dallas have 2 games in hand. I'd love to see Edmonton and Vancouver beat out those two. Go Canada!
