We need another loss

We need Arizona to beat Toronto tonight. Schmaltz scored 7 points against Ottawa just a few days ago and they just hammered Detroit 9-2 in thier last game. But who knows. They are facing the Leafs stellar D corps and that wall named Jack Campbell.

Dubas will be forced to make some dumb trades ...

Maybe just tell the leafs they're playing the Habs... lol

Campbell is now out for a few weeks, but Dubas no doubt still feels that they don’t have an issue in net (he and Holland should compare notes).

This has to be a must lose game. We are like 7 points back from dropping out of top 5.

Yeah this is a first of B2B games against the two teams that I think are playing the worst right now in Seattle and Philly. I know it is a B2B, but does Hughes risk continuing to play Chiarot against bottom feeders? I would be pulling him now. Seattle, Philly and Arizona are the next three. Who knows what the standing might look like in a week.
Ron Francis, what were you thinking with the expansion draft? I know you value cap space, but you also want to be remotely competitive too.
I expect the boys to win this.

I am sure Francis would say hey being league bottom was always in the realm of possibilities and we are playing the long game with roster architecture. But I agree with you, NW, that Francis was not entirely astute in the expansion draft. I think he asked enormous return in exchange for taking on bad contracts and he would simply not relent, so basically his phone stopped ringing and he went on to pick one offensively challenged hockey player after another.
I do not know if it is fair to blame him about Grubauer because the guy was a Vezina finalist. But one thing that I would not cut Francis any slack on was his choice of Hakstol. Hakstol had generally decent talent in Philadelphia and got mediocre results. I really do not think NHL players relate whatsoever to this guy.

Now is the ideal time to pull Chariot. 1) He has played great the last few weeks so his value will never be higher. 2) if he gets hurt before the trade deadline we will lose our asset for nothing. 3) Were need to lose these next few games. Each game (Philly, Sea, and Ariz) ia a 4 point game for the draft lottery. We need to sit Chariot and perhaps Petry. We ain't winning with Wideman and Clague in the top 4. Let's see how astute Hugo are!

Paquette did not practice today. Sounds like he will be the guy put on waivers today to make room for Edmundson. I guess this means Poehling, Pezzetta and Dauphin survive this round.
Given the body of work this season for these four, this is the move that makes sense.

And Seattle scores on the BS power play.

5 of 7 Habs' shootout attempts were very weak.
I think Byron was the only one who actually got a hard shot on Grubauer.

The boys played okay. But, granted, Seattle is such an abysmal team that I am sure what it means.
Grubauer swims around like Mrazek in net. And the own goal on Larsson was rather amateurish. I have no idea how NHL refs could take Anderson off for roughing without Jarnkrok (maybe it is the European exemption whereby the officiating fraternity presumes Europeans cannot by nature engage in belligerent actions on the ice).
The shootout says a great deal about the lack of high end talent in this game. That was painful.

A game on paper that I thought the boys should win. Almost the only gimme left on this schedule. Yuck though. No cohesion at all. The OT and shootout was bad. Painfully bad. The Marty bump may be wearing off. They were all over the place tonight with no rhyme nor rhythm.
I really want a top pick for having to put up with season, but this is a bit pitiful as I think Seattle is the dog’s breakfast of this league. Good for them tonight. Too bad the boys did not up their game in front of their first full house since two years ago.

I'm watching the shoot out and Marty's picks, and can come to no other conclusion than Marty is all for the tank: Byron, Armia, Pizza. Sure he doesn't have a lot to work with but Josh must be WTF. Same with Gally. I'm good with the loss as when the boys came back I didn't want them to score to win in regulation as I wanted Krak to get at least a point. And then in OT I was OK with losing so Krak would gain a point on us. No problem with Marty tanking the shoot out. Very strange watching these games from a hope to lose perspective.

Yes...at this point, a single-point limit is the point.
