Some lineup news for tonight. Play Allen, trade him on Monday and go with Monty and burglar next year and get another high first rounder...😁

Danny Grant and Claude Larose for first round pick (Dave Gardner). I'd do that over again. Pollock wasn't perfect.

Allen looked sharp in the first. The Stars just cycled the Habs' third pair to death on the goal at the end of the period.

Dallas needed the extra point way more than the Habs. Good on the kids tonight.

Cole and Suze are magic together particularly when they ignore Armia. Normally I'd be going nuts with Armia spoiling that line. But I'll accept that Marty, and likely Hurts, want to see if Armia can get out of his funk for the ultimate evaluation. Or perhaps they've made that evaluation and they are trying to showcase Armia. Don't think we'll get much, but we could dump another dumb contract by MB.
I've said for a month now how much I like Shunny. If Lechy were a dman he's be just like Shunny. And Shunny got his first NHL goal tonight. Such patience and smarts.

habsorbed I watched a lot of the Rocket last year and Corey was their most consistent defender. Just goes about his business very efficiently and quietly. Not flashy. Not overly big and physical. It was not a total shock that they signed him to a NHL deal although I am typically very stingy with the idea of giving a AHL “vet” a first NHL deal and hoping he is a rare late bloomer (it just rarely happens). Here is your guy posing with his first NHL goal puck.

Here is your guy posing with his first NHL goal puck. Tx for posting that NWT. Just checked his bio and did not realize he was 26 years old, which may explain some of his poise for a 'rookie'. He was also undrafted which says a lot about his determination and perseverance. I suspect there were many times when he thought he'd never get to the NHL, let alone score a goal. Good for him!

I have the same concerns about 25-26 year old minor leaguers suddenly "finding their way" in the NHL. It's usually a short sample, fueled by something that doesn't last. Guys usually find that missing link earlier in their career. I haven't paid attention to him, but looking at his profile, he spent 4 years in the NCAA (Skilly throws beer glass against wall), with unremarkable numbers and then 2 seasons with Calgary's farm team (another Calgary castoff....has to bode well). His second season there, he put up 21 points in 44 games and was +29. That was a good showing off his final college year. Six feet, 196 lbs, so decent size. He's certainly worth keeping around to see if he shows consistency as well. Those abilities are evident in solid 3rd pairing guys. If he can bring .4 to .5 ppg with him, that moves him up a pairing. Still a long shot, but good first impressions. I'll have to watch his game carefully.
