I wonder if they can push this onto Berg and Timmins... need to try and keep the kid... maybe at the rookie camp HuGo, Machabee and geoffey can have a press conference about it extolling what Logan has done and how the knight and Habs gave worked with him

If he has actually embraced and learned from the programs and counselling he's been taking, then I like his chances of sticking around. But I don't see Hurts sugar coating this if his 'maturing' is just smoke and mirrors.

I agree but it's just not on the kid only, once the knights added him to their roster and the habs drafted him, the habs and knights each have 1/3 ownership of this situation... they shouldn't pawn it off... they talk about a class organization, this is what they should do... regardless of what jack Todd says

He is talented (in particular his offensive tools are intriguing), but there is no way Mailloux is NHL-ready any time soon. I even have my doubts about whether Guhle should skip a developmental step (AHL). Basically I see 2022-23 being something of a mess on the blueline. Not getting into where each guy will slot in, the left side is basically Edmundson, Romanov, Harris, and Schueneman. Maybe Chiarot or Kulak comes back but I doubt it. The right side is anyone's guess since Petry has a foot out the door. Savard will be there and I assume Barron is ready enough to cut his teeth in the league. I do not like his game much, but it would not surprise me if Wideman is re-signed. Because, really, what is there on the right side in Laval? Brook is not convincing enough now and I am not sure he ever will be. A Euro like Norlinder can supposedly play the right side without much drama but is he strong and determined enough to break through in the NHL. I would imagine that Hughes gets some kind of established NHLer via UFA to plug in on the right and give the young guys some cover. While Harris is left handed, he has played right defense through his NCAA career. Right defense is his normal slot and it might be a mistake to play him on the left.

Harris has 20 points in 38 games playing for Northeastern University. Basically he is playing in a league where 80-90%, will not even get a sniff from an NHL scout. And not exactly dominating Guhle has 40 points in 42 games in the WHL ... widely regarded as the "toughest" (as in most physical) league. Oh .. and Guhle's plus-minus is over double Harris' ...

They polled the kids at the CHL Top Prospects Game who the toughest player to play against was. Guhle was tied for first. Xhekaj just behind. You play Guhle where he looks ready to play. He may not be quite ready yet, but he is the closest IMO. He hates people being in his end. And Edmonton has taught him the benefit of activating along the boards when it makes sense.

Good points, NW. I was mostly just thinking that Harris is going to get games with the Habs when Northeastern is eliminated. I have no idea how he will look in the NHL.
In terms of 2022-23, I am basically imagining that a guy that projects all day as a top-4 like Guhle could benefit from playing top pair minutes on a winning team in Laval. Whereas, Harris could possibly hold down a bottom pair spot on a losing Habs team since he is a couple years older and has a more modest ceiling.

He can benefit from adapting to this next level (bigger tougher opponents, less time and space, etc.) just like a big beast like Guhle, who has different things to work on that reps in the AHL can develop. I am a bit tired of the team rushing players that are not ready. Put them in a position to succeed and support getting them to the next level. I have so much more confidence in HuGo getting this more right than wrong than Berg.

My sense is Barron is ahead of both Guhle and Harris and will definitely get time with the big team over the next 6 weeks. I like our chances of on of those 3 being legit top 4 and perhaps 2 of them. If we can hit on all 3 then we have our Big 3 II.

I also can see him starting with the big club sooner since he has already been in the AHL
