You can see the smiles from all the Toronto Sports Network guys when they put this up on their socials. I can only imagine how often the HNIC crew tonight will bring this up. Should be a fun broadcast listening all about Giordano and how underrated the Leafs goaltending is. Need to stock up the fridge for this one 😆

Sounds like Lagesson in with Petry injured.
Barron, Clague and Perreault not playing tonight. They really should send Barron to Laval soon as they need healthy D.
Allen gets the start.

I wonder if TSN will put something like that notice up when the Leafs are the 1st team eliminated once the playoffs start.

We are pretty depleted but still competitive. Proud of these guys. And really enjoying watching the games. But it sure is odd hoping for them to score and stay in the game but not win or pick up a point. The other night against Fla, was taxing with our goalie pulled: wanting them to score and then breathing a sigh of relief when they shot it wide. Won't mind picking up 2 points tonight (lottery pick be damned) just to hear the embedded announcers whine and watch the Leafs fans confusion at having the best team in then league year after year but no Cup in 64 years and counting..

The record since St. Louis took over has been, but this is a really tough stretch of games over the next 7-10 days. I think the losses will start piling up again, though I do expect the boys to maintain the compete level.
If I could pick, I would love a victory and a loss tomorrow in New Jersey.

Yeah, I want the top picks as much as anybody and it would be a shame to mess it up this late in the season. I am full on tank for this year. But cheering for the Bruins or Leafs to win games against our lads is just so unpleasant. If it happens though and the boys are competitive, then all good!

St. Louis has done an excellent job considering the circumstances. All his previous experience was coaching pee wees. With all the injuries he has much less talent to work with than his previous coaching experience.

Yikes, Lagesson is what I thought he is. With Harris on the way and Schueneman looking decent, I really cannot imagine how this Swede is getting a qualifying offer.

They won’t play him enough to avoid being a UFA at the end of the season. He will walk. Fills a depth gap right now, nothing more. If he suddenly becomes a legit NHL player, oh well.

Transition game nonexistent today. That should get better with the new generation, when it arrives.

Wonder if Lagesson isn’t comfortable on his off side? When he’s out with Edmundson that’s the case.

Was that not interference on Dauphin by Blacktwit. Interference, for sure, in the form of a slewfoot. CBC called in a heavy hit.

Not impressed with Lagesson. Carried out of his end, and passed the puck to the left winger who had a Leaf all over him. No options for the LW.

All in all, that was a weak twenty minutes by the Habs.
I know the 18 skaters for Montreal are not even close to the quality of Toronto, but nevertheless I would imagine the coaches are going to tell the boys they need more purpose and confidence on the puck.

I am sure it is not ideal to use Lagesson on the right, but I saw a number of games in Edmonton where he played his strong side and he looks the same. In other words, the combination of being slow and panicky with the puck is a bad combination no matter where the coach lines you up.

In the last few days, the slumbering giant Armia has woken up. He has the talent to at least come close to justifying his contract if he actually focused, crashed, and banged on a regular basis.

Savard has been playing well since his return from the ankle (?) injury. Dauphin is also making a good argument that he can play in the NHL (though I think his skill set limitations will dictate no higher than the 4th line except on an emergency basis. He is faster and harder on pucks than I thought before this season.

Anderson draws a penalty, but geezes can he not make a simple breakaway pass? Caufield displays his sniper skills vv
C’mon Leafs, we don’t need a win, but against the Leafs it’s forgivable.

Schueneman is a keeper. How was he kept in the AHL for this long? He’s a smaller version of Giordano the way he plays.
