Sounds like Drouin could be out for the season. Nice to see Ylönen get another shot. Emergency call up due to the Pezzetta and Pitlick (Tyler) injuries last night.

Another 4 point game. We gotta start losing these or we will be out of the top 5 picks.

Monty makes great pass to Hughes. Oops. 1-0 Devs.
See, why should the 5 guys on the ice get charged with a minus? It’s dumb.

I would say because it's partially their fault that Monty misplayed the puck. Romanov gave no sign as to which side he was going to peel off to. Monty started showing forehand, but then Romanov went the opposite way. Communication failure. And Byron came straight down the middle behind the Devil rather than provide a pass option. Savard was nowhere to be found as he had just pinched high in the NZ. Imo, it was more a failure to provide clear options than it was puck mishandling failure.

Another last minute goal to at least get a point. You do have to admire it though. What a pass by Dvorak.

I was pretty pissed off when they scored with the goalie pulled. This was a nothing game in which we played like crap. and to walk a way with a point will hurt us.
It particularly hurts when you see all the great young talent on the Devils which was acquired by very high draft picks - including two #1.

Barron sure looks raw but one can see the talent and potential. And leaps and bounds better than laggy.
And what happened to PK. Didn't hear his name until the 3rd period. He did not play at all in OT. Is a shadow of his old self. Will be most interesting to see what he signs for during the off-season. Hope he's ready for a significant pay cut.

Caufield's assist tonight was his 33rd point, which ties him with Dickie Moore and Jack LeClair, for 43rd on the Habs all-time rookie list

He'll be a very sought after commodity, I can see NHL netwrork and the US networks wanting him, he might sign with Sportsnet/TSN in a Don Cherry type role (in PKs unique way)

Caufield's assist tonight was his 33rd point, which ties him with Dickie Moore and Jack LeClair, for 43rd on the Habs all-time rookie list Caufield and Pitlick are now 8th and 9th in rookie scoring, having played the fewest number of games of the players in that top nine. This also is considering that Caufield essentially dried up on offence for his first 30 games (no need to expand on what happened there) and Pitlick had been used sparingly in the games he played with the Wild. Over the last 20 games, Bilbo would be staring down the list at everyone else. What is more important is that they are playing with confidence and look to both be part of a strong young core going forward and seem to be developing into their respective roles at the NHL level.

One remarkable thing about last night’s game. MSL started an unproven 20 year old defender in OT and used him on three shifts in OT. No past head coach with the Habs in recent memory would even have considered doing this. As assistant coach Letowski said recently, he really does see/think the game differently than so many established coaches.

MSL really is a breath of fresh air. I watched a bit of Steve Dangle and he basically said he doesn;t want to talk about what the habs were like during the Ducharme period, he basically said ignore that time and focus on the MSL time because the Habs a vastly different team.

The days of battle axe coaches died over a decade ago, I honestly thought Ducharme was part of the new breed of coaches, but what a disappointment he turned out to be.

I wonder if getting away from Ducharme made the difference for Danault. He has a career high 21 goals and is also only a couple of points away from another career high.

Watching the game on my DVR, I can't help but not notice Subban.... like, ever. I used to be open to signing him for a year or two, moreso if Petry was moved without a RD returning, but he sure isn't showing me much of anything.
It's interesting how Weber and Subban are basically a wash at this point, I have to think Subban's injuries and possibly lack of commitment to offseason training, led to him losing too much of his skating to stay an impact player, even though he should still be in his prime.

From what I've seen and heard, Subban still works out really hard. IMO, the issue with him as it has been with so many guys, is that the NHL has sped up and while Subban is agile on his skates, he was never a speedster and it's taking a split second longer for him to get from A to B and he's being beaten there and can't get the angle and leverage he used to get. The same thing was noticeable with Weber. Subban still makes excellent long breakout passes. I've seen him do that numerous times this year. He certainly isn't a good fit on the Devs, though. I agree on the trade being a wash. Subban was better the first two years (Norris finalist, SC finals) and Weber was better the following 2 years. I also think both play better on a competitive team. There's more incentive and neither is great enough to drive play on bad teams. Weber rarely drove play throughout his career anyway. Excellent support player and great with Nashville when Suter was his partner and was the zone exit guy.
