I expect a drubbing in this one Don't worry. Pretty sure Nilan said Drouin will be pumped to play against his former team to show them they made a mistake, if only he wasn't injured.

The Habs will see Elliott in net. Of course, facing backup goalies has been a common occurrence this season, and needless to say it does not always translate into wins.

Jordan Harris makes his NHL debut . Let's see what all the fuss on this kid is about I'm interested too. Never seen the guy play but his stats etc don't look particularly impressive. While I like to have faith in Hughes' judgment, can't help being concerned with an MB draft pick.

Expectations are too high already. I'm hoping he can be a #4 Dman in a couple of years. Allowing for all the development mistakes and learning about to take place, I figure if he can look like a bottom pair guy who can move the puck, that's good. It's not like he's debuting with a strong southern US team that can support him while he learns and they use their CAP advantage to dominate the standings (Yeah I have a very hard time letting go of the leverage Bettman has given his pet teams) .

Aside from leadership (he was captain), in the few games I have watched nothing really stood out about Harris. Against NCAA competition, he was good in all phases of the game. But I am not convinced that any particular attribute or tool in the tool box is elite, which makes me wonder if Habs fans should just be thankful if he develops into a 4/5 d-man. Look, we know he is not Makar but we would hope that he can be something more than Will Butcher. Time will say.
It sounds as though Allen will start again tonight. In the last seven days, he has faced like 140 shots against elite opponents (Toronto, Florida, and Carolina).
It is nice to see that Poehling is back in the lineup. Injuries have certainly impeded his development.

Savard does a good job of turning something into nothing.

The Habs are playing relatively well. Unfortunately the best scoring chances fell onto the sticks of Savard, Hoffman, and Byron.
It is easy to blame Barron for getting out-muscled and out-smarted by an elite goal scorer like Stamkos in front of the net. But most breakdowns involve multiple failures and on that play the Habs right wing clearly gave Hedman too much time and space to find Stamkos' blade.

C'mon man. Cirelli's stick jammed up against Allen's pad and pushed him. No interference, really?

Cmon Dvorak. If you cant score on Brian Elliot you may as well retire.

Hoffman and Anderson defending. Yikes Neither would be on my team. Hughes has a big job ahead of him. So many guys dressed who simply aren’t NHL players.
On the plus side…
Romanov will easily be a top pair guy. He’s really impressing me with his improved panic threshold.
Savard is better than I thought. Solid #4.
Harris looks calm and composed.
I hate Tampa. How is Elliott playing like St Patrick instead of St. Sieve?
Barron has potential but needs to get stronger and get used to the quicker pace.

Cmon Dvorak. If you cant score on Brian Elliot you may as well retire. He’s another guy I don’t want. He doesn’t drive offense and he’s not fast enough.

C'mon man. Cirelli's stick jammed up against Allen's pad and pushed him. No interference, really? Yeah. Another NHL HO product. They must literally have a Wheel of Fortune in their ‘office’. Right next to the well stocked bar. We could have a fun thread suggesting what the wheel might stop at. First possibility. “Good goal by Matthews”.

Yeah, the Cirelli goal really does not make a whole lot of sense. If a guy can essential push the goalie's pads over the goal line like that, then I am not sure the goalie is getting a fair chance.
Romanov is not sheltered at all and plays huge minutes in all situations (except power play) and the fact that he can hold his own really bodes well for his future.
I like Anderson 5v5 (should have kept him with Suzuki and Caufield in my opinion), but if he is going to get power play time the only role for him is front of the net. His first touch is not good enough to play the slot.

I kind of wish Montreal had a slick LH stick passer to play the right half wall because a guy like Suzuki could be a menace in the slot because of his sense of time/space and sneaky lethal shot. And then you have Caufield over there on the left side.
Who knows, time will say, because I am sure different pieces will be subtracted and added. The one thing we know the power play cannot continue to be bottom quintile in the league season after season if the plan is to eventually creep back into playoff contention.

Stamkos on the left, firing right-handed one-timers. Kucherov on the right, firing left-handed one-timers.
Like a wicked table-top hockey game.
