This game should be fun. With last place locked up I can finally hope for Les Boys to win. Likely Fla does not dress it's full squad so winning is likely.
So, there is a very real possibility that the best team in the league will lose to the worst team in the league, even though the best team has 69 more points than the worst team. We gotta narrow that gap to 67 points!
Go Habs Go!!!

Maybe the game will still mean something to the Panthers...if they need a point or two to edge Colorado for the President's Trophy.
They both play tonight.

Panthers are not playing their 'A' lineup against the Sens. Not only is Bobrovsky resting, there is a long list of guys taking the night off (Huberdeau, Barkov, Weegar, Gudas, Forsling, Lundell). I would suspect the Panthers' coaches play almost everyone tomorrow in order to keep guys sharp considering they will have at least two or three days before the playoffs start.
Hopefully the boys can go out on a high note (two game win streak) and reward the fans. But needless to say it will not be easy.

Panthers up 3-0 and in control.
We'll see what the Avs do at home vs. the Preds--who may play hard to avoid those same Avs in Round 1. (1 vs. 2nd WC). If the Avs win, the Panthers will want to beat the Habs to ensure the President's Trophy.
If the Avs lose tonight, it's over.
Another interesting scenario brewing.
Boston's going to win tonight to move within one point of Tampa, who are losing to the Blue Jackets late in the third.
Boston faces Toronto tomorrow night. If the Leafs lose and Tampa loses to the Islanders, the Leafs will face Boston in Round 1.
Who would Leafs' fans prefer: Bruins or Bolts?

Florida have clinched the President’s Trophy. I expect they rest a bunch tonight and just go through the motions. Our boys have a chance to finish on a high note. Go Habs Go! They got this!

There is that history with the Bruins but IMO they are not the team that TB is. And the last time the Leafs played the Bolts last week Tampa steamrolled them 8-1.

Knight played last night and got the shutout. I wonder if he gets the call today. And Huberdeau can't catch McDavid for the Art Ross.

To think their season began with the resignation of head coach Quenneville. I guess the Preds want to avoid the Avs in Round 1. Ha! They came back from a 4-2 deficit in Colorado to win it in a shootout. 1 point in their final game against the Yotes tonight, and they'll get the Flames. ================================== Tonight will determine 3rd in the Atlantic and 1st WC in the East. Boston at Toronto. Tampa Bay at Islanders.

I did not know that Gervais was retiring this spring. I am sure he will be missed. By all accounts over the years, he was loved and respected by Habs players.
Regarding the games tonight, coaches and players are going to say it does not matter who their first round opponent is, etc. However, I cannot imagine for the life of me why Toronto would want to play Tampa. No disrespect to Boston, but why would the Leafs big guns be worried about Swayman or Ullmark, two guys who have zero games of playoff experience. I know playoff hockey can be unpredictable, but beating the Lightning seems a lot more daunting when you see a guy in the prime of his career with a couple of Cups and a couple of Vezinas in the net.

3 ways Boston takes 3rd tonight.
Boston 2 pts. Tampa loss in regulation.
Boston 2 pts. Tampa 1 pt. ROW tie-breaker.
Boston 1 pt. Tampa loss in regulation. ROW tie-breaker.

Can't see Toronto putting in a lacklustre effort in the hope of playing Boston. They could lose to Boston and still play TB if the Bolts win tonight, correct?

I know playoff hockey can be unpredictable, but beating the Lightning seems a lot more daunting when you see a guy in the prime of his career with a couple of Cups and a couple of Vezinas in the net. Not to mention Stamkos and Kucherov being on an absolute heater. Stamkos has 23 points in his last 8 games, and Kucherov has 21 in that span. Avoid at all costs if I'm Toronto with their questionable goaltending.

Yes, if Tampa wins tonight they'll play Toronto in Round 1, no matter what Boston does. The Bruins can take 3rd in one of the 3 scenarios I posted earlier. Otherwise, they play Carolina.

Caufield's goal, his 21st of the year, is his 41st point. Ties him with Nick Suzuki, for 24th on the Habs all time rookie scoring list
Nick Suzuki finished his rookie season with 13 goals and 28 assists. Only one other player in NHL history finished his rookie season with 13 goal and 28 assists. Can you name him?
Hint. He is one of 10 players to have his Hall of Fame waiting period waived.
Answer: Bobby Orr

Maybe the Bruins, down 3-1 in the third in Toronto, will get some motivation knowing that the Bolts are down 3-1 to the Isles to start the third.

Caufield with the hat trick and now tied for 2nd in rookie goal scoring behind Tanner Jeannot. Even an average 1st half ( as opposed to the abysmal period under Ducharme) probably would have been enough to win him the Calder.

Well, this was certainly a fun way to conclude an otherwise nightmarish season. Not only was it great for the fans, I am sure it was nice for the boys to get a win for Price, properly send off a great guy like Gervais, and pad their stats a bit.
I had the volume off during the first intermission on TSN during the Gorton interview, could anyone discern if he was back in North America or still over in Bavaria? With the season over, I know there are a lot of issues to work through -- exit interviews (some of which could be impactful in terms of providing strategic direction), contract negotiations with RFAs, trade talks, and most importantly finalizing draft preps.

Well. that was fun. Haven't enjoyed a game like that in a very long time. Nothing riding on it and Habs playing an AHL team. But lots of positive stories: Cole hat trick; Carey gets a win; Harris gets his first; Pitlick gets his first goal as a has; Gally finally scores.
And the best of all: Habs score 10, and the crowd starts a "Guy.Guy" chant. It's been a rough season but man I love being a Habs fan!

Anyone else find it odd that for the ceremony, Bob Gainey comes out in his Habs jersey with the C, and Shea comes out in his civvies? Has Shea vowed never to wear a Habs jersey ever again?

Gorts answered like a politician: vague ambiguous and non-committal. But I am banking on significant changes. I see at least 2 of the forward vets earning more than $4 million being moved. Likely Hoffman, Drouin, or Gally
