Do we have anything to give to Colorado to get this guy? When healthy they have more than enough offensive punch without him. Are they in need of a good checking center?
I think he would be a nice fit on one of the top two lines. What do you guys think?

Tanguay: Top 5 scorer in league. Young, Cheap, Colorado going for the cup now.
We wouldn't be able to pry him away from COlorado right now.

I suggested pursuing Tanguay last summer, before he was re-signed by Colorado. Was told at the time that he was too soft and reliant on Forsberg for his performance. He's virtually untouchable now.

Last summer, Tanguay was discussed as an element (along with Morris) in a trade for José Théodore. I don't recall rumors about Tanguay being available outside that context. Please remind me.

My bad, I should not have said "suggested", but rather "lobbied" for Tanguay in a Habs jersey. Tanguay had 36 PIM to "Rock" Brisebois' 32 last season. Players of Tanguay's skill set are not a dime a dozen.... Nothing is guaranteed. But Tanguay is 23 years old, and is generally considered to be among the best LWs in the league. True that playing with Sakic or Forsberg will not harm anyone's performance, but neither should playing with Koivu and Zednik.... - habsrus.proboards4.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&n=1&thread=8421Tanguay/Morris for Théodore/Brisebois? Tough call, but I'd do it.

Wow - I didn't realize he was their leading scorer this year.
I was just thinking that over the past couple years he has been called over rated because of who he was playing with, and with the addition of Kariya and Selanne he might be expendable. I say expendable in the sense that they have quite a few quality scoring forwards, but might be missing some pieces elsewhere to make a real run at the cup. The most obvious being goaltending.
Not that I want to trade Theo, one all star/franchise goaltender to Colorado was enough.

it's interesting how you don't hear Hejduk being called over-rated and he's been playing with those same players. same with Drury even though his numbers have fallen since leaving Colorado.
and I can't remember any of the posters who called Tanguay over-rated defining what exactly was that suppose to mean?

*Sigh* I won't get into the flying frenchmen again.
But if we are going to go after a player on Colorado, why Tanguay? Why not go after Hejduk. Tanguay is obviously better than him, so Colorado won't part with him. Wait until the deadline and if the Avs haven't traded for Kolzig, then offer them Garon and Komisarek for Morris and Hejduk.

Wait until the deadline and if the Avs haven't traded for Kolzig, then offer them Garon and Komisarek for Morris and Hejduk. you're kidding, right? Colorado is obviously going for the Cup this year so why would they want to trade their 1st line winger and top 4 dman for a backup goalie and a prospect dman who is at least 3-4 years away from cracking the top 4? besides, Colorado is apparently looking to upgrade their offense (Spector) so trading their best goalscorer for the past 2 seasons doesn't make sense from that standpoint also, especially since Sellanne and Kariya are struggling heavilly. Morris I could see get moved in a deal for Gonchar. R.
