Hey cigar, I think my radio feed is a little ahead of your internet feed. The live radio feed is so fast that when I've taken my radio to Copps to see the games I can actually hear what happens before I see it on the ice .................. just kidding!

I was just reading some posts on the Bears' board. They are extremely impressed with Price. Here's a couple of quotes:
"This kid Price is by far the best goalie we've faced all playoffs... not looking good boys."
"This kid doesn't give up rebounds...unlike manchester's goalie."

I don't know the Bears but I already hate them.
Sloan cheapshotted Grabovski and now everyone is fighting.
The announcers think there should be a suspension.

All I can say is wow. Someone will be paying a visit to this Sloan guy...I hope. Either the league with a suspension or a taste of his own.
Price has how many shots? 43? 44? Ah 46! The Bears are no pushovers.

My 3 stars:
Price Locke Grabo with honourable mention to D'Agostini
Okay so, it was a 4 star game.
I recommend any Habs fan with the internet watch this series. It's definitely worth $6.00 a game.

Bit of a concern about the garbage at the end of the game. Grabovski and Stortini got instigator penalties in the last five minutes of the game, which is an automatic one game suspension. Sounds like some serious appeals should be in line if that's the case. How did Grabo get an instigator penalty?

Sounds like some serious appeals should be in line if that's the case. How did Grabo get an instigator penalty? Good news for the Dogs. I see the AHL website's game summary has been changed. No instigator penalties for either Grabo or Stortini. Instead they gave Louis Robitaille (the Bears' designated goon) an "abuse of officials" misconduct. That sure sounds like a suspendable infraction to me. Also, Sloan got a major for elbowing at the 18:56 mark of the third (which is what started all the garbage, I believe). Perhaps an intent to injure suspension for that?

As for the good stuff. Holy man, what a game by Price. Corey keeps scoring and proving that he can score outside of juniors, and Grabs gets a nice one and stands in there when their big goons come after him. What a heck of a start for the boys...keep it going!!

Thanks for this thread guys....I was out watching my son's band play tonight.
4-0. Outshot 46-21. Carey Price is getting it done. Love the quote from the Bears' coach.
Hershey, even though Brennan was tossed for the remainder of the playoffs, seems like old-school rough and tumble. Perhaps I will spend the 6 bills and watch the next one.
I live 40 minutes from Hamilton.....I should really get down there.

Bulldogs take Game 1
Habs prospect picks up shutout By PATRICK WILLIAMS – For SLAM! Sports

HERSHEY, Pa. –- The defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears have finally met their match, and the Hamilton Bulldogs are three wins away from bringing the Calder Cup back to Canada for the first time since 2002.
The upstart Bulldogs marched into a nearly sold-out Giant Center on Friday night and handed the Bears a 4-0 shutout behind a 46-save effort from rookie sensation Carey Price and a pair of power-play goals from Corey Locke. Dan Jancevski contributed a pair of assists fro the Bulldogs, who took a one games to none lead in the best-of-seven Calder Cup final.
The teams pair off again tonight at Giant Center before taking the series back to Steeltown for Game 3 on Monday night for the first of what would be three consecutive games at Copps Coliseum should the series reach at least five games.
“I think they outplayed us really bad tonight,” said Hershey head coach Bruce Boudreau, who must navigate his club through its first real taste of playoff adversity this spring.
Hamilton stopped a Hershey team that had rolled through the first three rounds of the Calder Cup postseason, going 12-2 in the process and losing only once on home ice. Both of Hershey’s two losses prior to Friday night had come in overtime, and the Bears had not lost since Game 4 of their second-round series against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Bears’ last home loss during the playoffs came back on April 19th when Albany pulled off an overtime win in Game 2 of the first round.
Quieting down the Hershey crowd and stalling the explosive Hershey offence from the get-go was part of the Hamilton game plan against a Bears team known for feeding off its packed building.
“We talked about how these fans are the best in the league,” Bulldogs veteran Ajay Baines explained. “Not probably, they are the best fans in the league. It was important for us to not get behind the eight-ball in the first 10 (minutes) and stick with it.”
Said Price: “We just had to weather the storm.”
Bears centre Matt Hendricks concurred.
"They came out and did exactly what we thought they were going to do, and they achieved,” said Hendricks, Hershey’s leading goal-scorer in the playoffs. “I don't think we played our game tonight."
A scoreless first period of play yielded to a three-goal Hamilton second-period explosion, two of those goals coming in the middle frame’s opening 3:54. The outburst, courtesy of power-play tallies from rookies Matt D’Agostini and Mikhail Grabovski, quickly silenced what had been a rowdy, rambunctious Hershey crowd of 10,257.
Locke then buried the Bears with the first of his two goals 7:41 after the Grabovski goal, leaving the Bulldogs owning a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. The speedy winger picked up the puck in the neutral zone and sped down the left boards and through the left circle before crashing the slot and back-handing a rising shot past Hershey goalie Frederic Cassivi.
Termed “fabulous” by Hamilton head coach Don Lever, Price, the 19-year-old first-round selection of the parent Montreal Canadiens in 2005 who joined the Bulldogs during the final week of the regular season, again impressed. Since then, Price, who led Team Canada to a gold medal at the World Junior Championship in January, has carried the Bulldogs to a 12 of their 13 postseason wins, and speculation exists that Price could earn himself a job with the Canadiens next season.
While the Bulldogs took away the middle of the ice from the Bears and limited the hosts to mostly perimeter shots, Hershey nonetheless did ring up 46 shots on young Price.
“He was stellar again,” Lever said.
Boudreau argued that the Bears managed to make Price’s life easier.
“We were shooting between the knees and shoulders. When you have a really good goalie and he is as composed as he is, he’s going to make those saves.”
The AHL’s hottest power play also went cold against the Bulldogs. Hershey, ranked first in the AHL during the playoffs on the power play with a 25.9% success rate, went 0-for-10 against the Bulldogs.
Two of those 10 Hershey power plays came at the 9:11 mark of the final period while the Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead. Minors to Jancevski and Maxim Lapierre sent Hershey onto a 5-on-3 power play for a full two minutes. The Bears managed to launch six shots at Price.
Twenty-three seconds after killing off the Hershey two-man advantage, Locke popped in his second goal of the night, lifting a shot under the crossbar from low in the slot just outside the left circle.
Hamilton, meanwhile, clicked on three of six man-advantages, the Bulldogs opening goals coming with Hamilton up a skater.
A line brawl broke out with 1:04 to play after Hershey’s Tyler Sloan delivered a passing elbow high on Grabovski inside of the Hershey zone.
The clubs finished with 127 penalty minutes for the evening, but Grabovski and Zack Stortini could have been missing from action tonight for the Bulldogs after referee Brian Pochmara tagged them with instigating penalties during the final five minutes of play.
The AHL, however, rescinded the instigating calls following the game, and Grabovski and Stortini both should be back in the Hamilton line-up tonight.
Now the Bulldogs have the series favourites potentially in a deep hole should Hamilton capture Game 2 with the series heading back to Canada.
"There's definitely a little sense of urgency,” Hendricks admitted. “We got beat 4-0. We know that it's a best-of-seven series.”
“They obviously didn't see our best. We've got to come ready to play."
The Bulldogs expect a better effort from the Bears in Game 2.
“We know they have a lot more to give,” Lever said. “That wasn’t their ‘A” game.”
