Wow what a night. I haven't yelled so loud, so many times, in a long time!
Always fun to see Cole snipe one.
Great to see Gally get one - he's skating much better this season!
And then the yelling really got going with the trifecta:
1) Xman just let the whole league know Habs now have an answer. I don't normally get too excited about fights but 1) I never liked Kassian and his goon play; 2) never liked the dance when the players size each other up, throw a few, and then hold on to each other for the refs to come in. Xman was having none of that - kassian challenged him and Xman said let's go and he went right after Kassian and schooled him.
2) Slafs with a beauty on so many levels. He'll have to be told not to taunt after he scores. I'll cut him some slack as he's just a kid and was no doubt excited about scoring and pissed about the cheap shot but just do the celly and enjoy.
3) Suze with one sweet move.
I know it was only the Yotes, but starting to worry we will not be finishing in the bottom 5.

4) when Brown hit Slaf with a shot to the head, Axe went after Brown and nailed him, meanwhile Slaf gets pissed off and scores... I think the Habs need to get Slafs angry more often

Besides, no one on the yotes would have done anything to them after Kassian got destroyed.

So darn cheeky. Can’t use that Pavel move for a while now.

So darn cheeky. Can’t use that Pavel move for a while now. True but it's now in his arsenal and goalies will have to watch for it which means they will leave themselves vulnerable to some other shiftiness from Slick Nick.

I'm finding the anointment of Xhekaj as the next great heavyweight a little premature for my liking. Kassian is tough but I've seen him get rag dolled a lot over the years. I like what I've seen from Xhekaj b/c Montreal has been lacking a deterrent for years and I like that fact that he has some skills even more. Curious to see how he fares against the Reaves of the league and hoping he continues to develop as a player.

I wish I knew how to post from Twitter …
Eric Engels posted
Xhekaj was asked how the fight with Kassian started.
“I was smiling at him on the face off. He asked me what I was laughing about. I said “You”. He gave me a shot, I asked him if he wanted one. He said “Sure”.
Asked Xhekaj if Kassian said anything after
He said “good fight”

Classic, Xhekaj is a beauty.
And Kassian has never really rubbed me the wrong way. The guy was a first rounder who never really had the skill set to justify where he was picked, plus he had substance abuse problems. But since he went out West (Vancouver and Edmonton), Kassian carved out of respectable NHL career and seems like a stand-up dude, basically a good teammate and mindful of his past issues.
The Suzuki penalty shot is so smooth it almost defies description.

I agree with some of the sentiments above. Kassian is not one of the real heavyweights of the league. Unless a spark is needed, it's unlikely those guys fight each other. It's useless and with all the evidence over head traumas caused by numerous fights, it's unlikely to see the big boys go after each other. There are cases like the Rangers needing a deterrent for Wilson but once they got Reaves, I think the two may have fought once and it can't recall for sure, but I don't think it was much of a fight. It's just a message to stick to hockey. That's fine by me because in a few years, the talent level on the team will be pretty good. We could sure use another elite guy, though. Buffalo's farm system is pretty good and they're coming into their own. We'll have to have answers for them.
