Let's hope he's more loyal than Souray. (Sorry, still a sore spot). I shouldn't blame the player, though, given the management teams in place at the time. If I was a player, that would weigh heavily in my decision as a UFA. We were screaming to trade him at the TDL and management didn't. The usual judgment skill in its full glory.

Hoffman on the top line tonight. Well, that surely cannot hurt the tank.

IIRC, Sheldon Souray passed on the same money they gave to Roman Hamrlik (4 years/$22 million), and then went to the Rangers, only to be passed over there ... from NY, Souray went to San Jose, and after little-to-no interest, he eventually signed with the Oilers ... eventually, he wore out his welcome in Edmonton, as well ... "Although they were paying him $4.5 million, the Oilers told Souray they were sending him to the minors. But that wasn't it. They didn't want him around their young players, so they were loaning him to the Hershey Bears, the top farm club of the Washington Capitals."Cheers.

I can only imagine how good X could become if we had Markov.
I'd trade Edmunson if we can get another top AAA prospect.

I was trying to remember if Souray played the right side with Markov, or not. I don't think so, but Andrei turned Souray into a PP monster. Man, Markov was underrated by so many. Great photo of Perreault, Tardif and Houle. Tardif was my favourite Hab for a couple of years until he left for the WHA. That was some juniour line.

Dvorak gets an assist on the Gallagher goal. It's his 1st point of the season.

Id be posting more but can’t pull up the game. We’re being outshot by a wide margin so far in the second.

After playing a solid first period, the boys got dominated in the second. The Sabres were skating and first on almost every puck.

All three of Anderson’s goals this year are game winners.
Correction - 2/3

Buffalo came in with plenty of confidence in the young season. It is nice for the boys come into their barn and take the two points.
Montembeault was excellent. The defense gave up a lot of shots but mostly kept the crease quiet. Guhle must be pumped up.
The Habs still have no answers on the power play (Hoffman on the point is plain silly) and, in general, continue to struggle offensively. The Dvorak line was very good tonight. The Suzuki line had its moments too. The bottom six was a muddled mess.

I didn't get to see the game but I see Monte was the first star and stopped over 40. Did he steel this for us?
Can't have goalies steeling points if we want this rebuild to work!

Yeah, Monetembeault was outstanding but I would not really say he stole the two points. He was moving very well laterally, almost always under control. But there were not a bunch of ten bell saves.
