Mind you, I said the same thing before the Leafs game. But Bruins are a good team. Leafs have some studs and when they don't show, they got nothing. Bruins are deep and dedicated.

Weise getting under Lucic's skin. Those were good times.
Today is an entirely different panorama. Boston is riding high, playing off the excellence of their vet core and whether they want to talk about it or not all the guys playing for Bergeron (and Krejci too). Montreal is rebuilding.
If the boys stay out of the box, skate hard, and Montembeault is among the game's three stars, then it could be a good game between the Original Six rivals. If not, well, then it could be tough to watch.

The Booins went from a cup to the basement and back to contenders...while we went from mediocre to the basement and back to mediocre and basement.
But of course, Dear Molson went from $600 million to $1.5 billion value and profitable every year.
Whose fault is that?

It's hard to take but the Bruins are where we would like to be.
They won the Cup in 2011, went to the Finals in 2013,won the Presidents Trophy in 2014 and went back to the Finals in 2019.
Now in a season when we thought they would take a step back, they are the best team in the league. They have been consistently good over a long period of time.

They've done very well (lucked out) with their draft picks. If you look at their 3 strongest players right now: Marchand was drafted in the 3rd round, 71st overall; Pasternak was 25th overall; and McAvoy was 14th overall. Pasta is 4th in league scoring which is ridiculous for 25th overall, Marchand is an all-star which is crazy for 71st, and McAvoy is a top 10 dman. To put things in perspective, Habs had next pick after Pasta, and MB chose Scherbak. Damn! If only Bruins had picked someone else, I'm certain MB would have been all over Pasta. And don't look now, but Bruins could tie or break Habs record for fewest losses in a season.

They have also survived draft screw ups like 2015. That's the year they had 3 consecutive picks in the middle of the 1st round. the only guy of that trio to turn into a decent player was DeBrusk. Believe it or not but they passed on Matt Barzal, Thomas Chabot and Kyle Connor. I guess its good for the rest of the league that they whiffed on those picks.

Mind you, I said the same thing before the Leafs game. But Bruins are a good team. Leafs have some studs and when they don't show, they got nothing. Bruins are deep and dedicated. Beware. They started the year off without Marchand and McAvoy as they recovered from injuries. Other than that, their team has been remarkably healthy. Their top 14 scorers have lost a combined 43 games between them. That's equivalent to each missing 3 games. But wait. Marchand and McAvoy account for 21 of those games, so really their top 12 guys have missed 22 games, or less than 2 games each. That's like taking a game off to heal a bruise. No serious things that hamper your performance. No need to juggle lines or have some guys playing out of position. They've had a Goldilocks start. As a comparison, look at Calgary from last season. Remarkably healthy. Then they finally face adversity in the playoffs and 'boot'....out you go. Then consider what Marty has had to put up with. Different, huh? Or Bednar in Colorado. Nicushkin alone has missed as many games as those 12 guys on Boston. Rodrigues has missed 11 games, MacKinnon 11, Josh Manson 24, Bowen Byram 35 and Landeskog hasn't played a game yet. I'd take a healthy Avs team over Boston 4 straight in a series. Frankly, it isn't as worrying as it might be if Boston had the same record with at least an average amount of injuries. They have faced zero adversity so far. It's been honeymoon time, but honeymoons end and then the marriage starts. In April.

And don't look now, but Bruins could tie or break Habs record for fewest losses in a season. It's a long season yet. To compare this Bruins team with the 76/77 Habs is a travesty. Besides the health aspect, they've play 6 more home games than road games. The key to Boston has always been Bergeron and Chara. Chara is gone and when Bergeron leaves the Bruins will go through a prolonged down period. Their prospect pipeline sucks. Lysell is a bust. Beecher is a 4th line centre. They have 7 UFA's next year. Krejci will be 37. Bergeron (if he doesn't retire) will be 38. Marchand will be 35. Pasternak is going to reset their CAP standards, so no longer will they be able to hold the line using Bergeron as their team CAP maximum. The Jacobs' are notoriously cheap, so without young, inexpensive guys to fill positions, they'll have to pay more money to be competitive and that won't happen. I'm looking forward (much as I have with the Patriots and Red Sox) to a long period of losing for the Bruins. Hopefully, they will stay in that Purgatory area of just missing or just making the playoffs and never getting a high enough pick. Since Keith Gretzky went to the Oilers, their drafting has not been good (along with trading away a lot of picks of course). McAvoy was the last good one....6 years ago. The waterfall awaits

Monty gets unlucky and has the shot go off Savard's skate and bounce to Hall who has an empty net ... 1-1
For anyone not watching, Monty is playing like a Vezina caliber goalie in this one. This game could easily be 6-1 Bruins

Nice work on the power play and Dach made no mistake. Of course, frickin' Hoffman has to take a stupid stick infraction 200 ft from his own goalie.
You are right, Willie. Edmundson let him off the hook there. But there have been some nice hits delivered. Guys like Anderson, Xhekaj, and Pezzetta have been involved physically.
I know the coaches will not want anyone to take an extra two while the Habs are in such a tight game, but it would be nice if the context presented itself where either Forbort has to drop the gloves or else a Habs hitter blows up a Bruins skill guy three seconds after the puck is gone.

I hate the Bruins and their fans.. But, we didn't need the 2 points. I took satisfaction in beginning to see streaks of domination out of Dach at centre. Just leave him there please. And I really think RHP is an nhler and should stay up, even in a fourth line role. Great work ethic, great speed

Thanks to Monty for keeping it close. He has been amazing... he better not get pushed aside when Allen returns... I'd actually trade Allen at the TDL
