Continuing my Twitter story, I got more derisive replies to my negative comments about the Bruins playoff chances. Stu Cowan was the most balanced one by far, stating he thought the Bruins could win the Cup (I'm still thinking Colorado if Lehky is back) or get bounced in Round 1. Myself and one other guy were not complimentary of the Bruins' future, as they gave away a fair number of picks and haven't done a very good job with the picks they kept. Did that raise a ruckus! What a hoot. One guy gave me a list of names that are no doubt going to power the Bruins into Purgatory. John Beecher was on that list....a first rounder having difficulty in the AHL who likely tops out at a 4th line centre. There are NO elite centres in their pipeline and maybe one Dman I'd be interested in...Mason Lohrei, playing for Ohio State right now. Their first rounder this past draft, Matthew Poitras, is putting up points in Guelph, but he's no Patrice Bergeron. Lysell is a bust, IMO (62 points in 53 games last year for the Vancouver Giants in his D+1 year....not inspiring). Anyway, those replies were humourous and I muted one who couldn't get the point. Bruins fans....equal only to Leafs fans. Keep poking that dumbass bear 17...

I think that Parros' body of work is evidence enough that the NHL's continued use of employing tough guys to handle discipline is a disaster. Hard to believe a vicious cross check to the face causing injury gets 1 game while a spit to someone's visor gets 3 games. There shouldn't be any tolerance of either but I'm guessing if asked Hoffman would tell his dentist and the doctor suturing his face that he'd rather be spit at. To get a sense of how vicious this was ,watch the video and listen to the raucous Bruins crowd which goes silent as soon as they see the cross check. Even the homers in the stands recognized this has no place in the game regardless what colour jersey your wearing. Although I must say, I thought for sure that with the long standing league officiating love for the Bruins, the refs were going to reduce the major to a minor. Should be grateful for these small blessings.

The next 3 guys chosen after the Boston picks were Kyle Connor, Matt Barzal and Thomas Chabot. Not sure of the exact order but imagine how much better off they would be with 2 of those guys in the lineup. I wonder who the genius was that advised on thise picks.

Good for him. Its about time someone called out these morons. Clever on Hoff's part as he actually never says anything negative but only poses the question in such a manner to point out the absurdity of the 1 game. This sort of indirect mocking will have the morons a the league office confused as to how to respond. I'm guessing there will be no response as they don't want to draw further attention to this absurd 'ruling'.

I think Sweeney had just taken over as GM a month before the 2015 draft, so despite the fact that generally speaking responsibility resides with the GM on first rounders, it reasons that he may have deferred to the Head of Amateur Scouting (Keith Gretzky).
But yeah, for sure, Zboril and Senyshen were total busts. And although Sweeney has made solid trades to fill holes in the roster, those trades cost considerable draft capital.
I suppose Bergevin can commiserate with guys coming up empty at the draft, since from 2012-2017 he managed to get it wrong with almost every single first and second round pick the Canadiens had.
