Just read that the winning team in the All Star game splits a million bucks. These guys are all millionaires. Wouldn't the optics be better if that money was donated to a deserving charity?

It's so stupid, how many homeless can have a bed in the middle of winter with that money... McDavid got a mill for himself....

Kucherov was involved in this & was tanking it so obviously that he was booed by the fans. If we weren't sure, we are now certain that this guy is a total d!ck.

The guy can't even get motivated by a million bucks.
Maybe if they were playing for a worthy charity he could get his butt in gear.
Fans pay a lot of money for these events & they deserve full effort. Maybe the league should step in with some punishment.

Leafs seem to be struggling to stay in that wild card race. I wonder how long before Treliving's patience runs out.

Don't think it's Treveling making the final decision. Not trading any of the big 4 + Reilley screams Shanahan's hands are all over it.

Leafs seem to be struggling to stay in that wild card race. I wonder how long before Treliving's patience runs out. Just one or two expected playoff or quasi-playoff teams dropping out of the playoff race early could completely change the outlook for the deadline... hence moving Monahan the second the offer for a 1st was out there.

Cant watch the Leafs ' Stars game. Dont have the channels. But just 52 seconds after Dadonov ties itin the 3rd, it's 5-3 Toronto. Game ends 5-4 Leafs.

Matthews' goal was one where he was chasing a Star up the right boards in the Stars zone. Wasn't able to catch the guy, but distracted him enough that Tavares came in and was able to swat the puck off the Stars' stick. Matthews grabbed it, drove to the net with a dman in front going down to block a pass to Marner swooping in from the right wing. The dman was on his hands and knees, the puck hit the back of the Dman's skate blade, which was perpendicular to the ice and deflected into the net. The goalie was playing the pass and was therefore, completely out of position. To Matthews' credit, he didn't celebrate.
The announcers, however, were giddy over Matthews's board battle to retrieve the puck. I'm shaking my head over their stupidity and they're praising Matthews to high heaven for his tenacity, hands, etc. Such suckholes. Now that's a word I haven't used in a long time. Appropriate.

It's unwatchable... Simpson and Cuthbert are brutal homers, they make Joe Bowen look like balanced coverage

Ugly and clearly extremely painful. I hope it looked worse than it was but I can't help but wonder if he's able to play at the same level ever again. Hoping for the best for him.

Based on what I remember, I was dopey on adrenalin for about 2 hours and it wore off when I was in the hallway at a hospital... it hurt like hell, they then took me in a room, knocked me out and cranked my ankle back in place... my right foot was turned 90 degrees to the right and 90 degrees downward. My wife saw them crank it back, she almost heaved... still can't talk about it.

Lol... it was a tough stretch for sure... it's why I hope for Sergachev they can get everything done properly... the big issue was the tearing of everything... the broken leg healed fine. The one thing I remember was nurses and paramedics stopping in the hallway to look at my ankle...

That will teach you to chase woman in farm fields! Sorry to hear that. Those kinds of injuries are lifelong reminders and problems. I remember in high school where 17 year old guys had huge scars with knee surgeries playing high school football. That scarred the heck out of me and put an end to college football fantasies. Even normal working life like seamstress on sewing machines left my mother and cousin with lifelong knee/foot pain. Best of health to you.

The Tax code blows and designed to help the rich... If he wins his appeal and only pays 15% on his signing bonus, this is a big F U to all regular Canadians who pay tax. Doesn't surprise me... only little people pay taxes

Doesn't surprise me... only little people pay taxes I can't see how that is even possible on "earned" money. The lowest is 26.5% on capital gains and this ahole wants 15% on a bonus? So every manager will work for minimum wage and get their true monies in bonuses.

This Tavares thing shows you where the Leaf priorities are.
The core 4 are all about maxing their earnings and the personal records - hence no max term contracts accepted by Matthews or Marner and now 4 players who will earn over 10-11 million dollars each.

I hope they turn him down and penalize the Saperlipopette out of him so no other athlete, celebrity or entertainer tries this.

I don't know where he pulled the 15% from but I can't see RC letting him win the case because it will break open the system to massive abuse. The last bonus I got ($10k) was very early 90s and I'm pretty sure it was fully taxed. I hope they make an example out of him. We can't let "famous" aholes cripple the tax system or give them special favors.
