Good for our lottery chances. Marty makes some strange decisions. I would have sent out Struble before Armia, Anderson or Gallagher. Kid can shoot and is smart.

What an ugly display.. no scorers at all. Deserved that loss I said during the game that while we can play well 5 on 5, and even dominate the play, we can't win becuase other than Suze's line we have no goal scorers regardless how many grade a chances we get. And i don't mean not good scorers. I mean no scorers. And then the shoot out made it blatantly clear. Once we got past our first 4 shooters there was no one for Marty to send out there. And Pens kept putting out decent offensive players. Armia and Dvo are your 5th and 6th best shoot out options? Really? Poor Monty!

Struble with another great game. Love this kid!
And as I've been saying for a few weeks now: Guhle is exhausted. Was playig way to many minutes. He used to be our best dman but now he is a liability. Can't play his physical game and way too many mental errors. That cough up goof play for Pens first goal was pathetic. Guhle is playing more hockey than he has ever played in his life and he is too young to withstand the game to game wear and tear. A young dman might be able to pay those minutes it if they are a good skater. But a young dman playing Guhle's game just can't maintain itself. Maybe in a year or two. Problem is that this is not good for his confidence, and will likely end up in an injury. Marty has to smarten up!

So a full 2 minutes of 4 on 3 in OT and NADA. When will Buroows be shown the door. Not to mention the anemic PP with 3 minutes to go in the game. Anyone else notice that once again Marty had the scornful look on his face as Burrows was instructing the PP during the time out. And once again, Marty barked out some instructions out as soon as Burrows shut up. I think Marty is losing his patience. Can't come soon enough. Specialty teams cost us that game!

This may come as a shock to everyone, but our first line in not scoring. People say it's all we got. I'm not sure where they are getting that. We have 76 goals. 22 from defensemen. We have 15 on the PP by forwards Of the 39 other goals, Suzuki and Caufield have 5 of them, 5 v 5 If it wasn't for 3 v 3, our "elite sniper" would only have 4 goals. But hey! At least they are crushing those Expected Goals!

The Struble thing is bizarre but I like him too. I saw him a few times in person when he was at Northeastern. As a freshman I thought he was better than Jordan Harris and he reminded me of PK Subban. Big, thick, good skater, likes to carry the puck and played with an edge. But he never really grew from there and I was expecting more. But he clearly looked like an NHL prospect with an NHL body and has probably passed Jordan Harris.
I also like Matheson. I know he can be sloppy and do too much but he’s clearly got a skill package we need and is in demand around the league. If nothing else he’s got trade value.
I thought Jake Evans had a good game. Marty seems to trust him in tight spots.

Hockey games always have an ebb and flow, so I am willing to accept that the other team plays too and they are going to push back. But, man, it is disappointing the way the boys played in the second period (of course the power plays near the end of reg and in OT were also nauseating to watch). I mean the Habs, Guhle's gaffe notwithstanding, had played a good first period and went to the room with a two-goal lead. So the parade of penalties, dumb hockey, and passive penalty killing in the second period just stands out in the worst way.

Its the passive PK that kills me... other teams have figured out if their PK pressures us, were screwed, but out braniacs behind the bench can't figure that out?
